Chapter 7 - Punishment (2)
An Yun suddenly felt that the reason why he had been able to run around the whole yard was not because of his thick skin, but because he did not have a clear understanding of the era, he did not know the heights of the sky, and he still believed that everyone here was equal. Just like in modern life with human rights.
Therefore, in An Yun’s own subconscious mind, he felt that he would not face particularly serious punishment for wandering around like this, just like in modern civilized society, if he went to the wrong place, the most serious thing would be to be scolded.
However, feudal society was not modern. There didn’t have human rights or equality. Everything was set based on their status. If he crossed the line, he had to pay the price recognized by the superior.
An Yun felt a little scared, and a chill came directly from his back, making his whole body tremble.
An Yun even had some doubts now, whether his plan to get close to Young Master Zang was right.
An Yun was afraid that he did not have the ability to ask Young Master Zang to give him freedom. Instead, he would anger Young Master Zang in advance and make Young Master Zang end his second life prematurely.
Perhaps he was very frightened, and An Yun’s body and bones were not in good condition. Before An Yun had time to think about it further, he started coughing again. This time, the cough was so fierce that it seemed as if he was going to cough out his lungs.
An Yun coughed so much that he could not take in enough air, which made his face turn red and he looked in pain.
At this moment, An Yun’s usually quiet courtyard suddenly became noisy.
At this time, An Yun could no longer distract himself from thinking about who came in and why they came to him. At this time, he only felt that he was extremely uncomfortable, so uncomfortable that he felt like he was about to suffocate.
Those people seemed to have arrived at his door, knocking on the door first, but then there was no response from inside, and soon they heard movement inside again.
“Quick, kick the door!”
“Yes.”
The sound of the door being kicked open came, and then An Yun noticed someone rushed in, then came to him and stuffed a pill into his mouth. His cough was soon suppressed.
After An Yun’s condition got better, he looked up at the people who had come in, and realized that these people were actually the doctors who usually treated him, as well as the maids who often came in and out of his place.
Seeing An Yun awaken, those people had happy expressions on their faces.
The doctor touched his somewhat gray beard and sighed: “Fortunately, I arrived in time, otherwise I’m afraid he would have suffered more. Please extend your hand, I’ll check again, and then I’ll administer some medicine.”
An Yun hadn’t figured out why they were here, but when he heard this, he subconsciously reached out to cooperate and received the doctor’s approving look.
The doctor took his pulse, asked about his detailed situation, gave him an injection, and then had someone prepare a tranquilizer for him.
Looking at the busy people in the room, the bloody scenes he had just seen faded from An Yun’s mind, and he began to wonder, “Doctor, how did you come here?”
The doctor finished attending to his needle, put it back into the cloth bag, and handed it to the medicine boy next to him for safekeeping. Upon hearing this, he turned to look at An Yun. Seeing the confusion in his eyes, he said softly, “It was the attendant next to the young master who asked me to come here.”
An Yun didn’t expect this answer. He didn’t understand why Young Master Zang had done this and was stunned for a moment.
It wasn’t until he finished drinking the decoction and went to sleep that An Yun began to understand the answer to his question.
.
On the other side, after Zang Ya watched An Yun left, he felt a little unhappy when he thought of the scared look in his eyes as he had left, and those wet eyes that seemed like they could cry at any moment. This made him feel a little irritable.
At the same time, Zang Ya recalled what Song Lin had told him — that pets would get sick if frightened and could easily die from illness. Seeing how fragile his little shuanger already was, he feared that another fright might be fatal.
Since An Yun was the pet his father asked him to keep, Zang Ya felt obligated to take good care of him. Therefore, he ordered his attendants to escort him back.
Staring at the thin white figure of the young shuanger as he left, disappearing like a ghost under the moonlight, Zang Ya couldn’t shake his unease. He quickly summoned attendants to fetch the doctor.
After the two attendants departed, Zang Ya pondered the advice Song Lin had given him. He decided to have his little shuanger’s place tidied up the next day to ensure he wouldn’t be exposed to extremes of temperature.
Once everything regarding his little pet was settled and Zang Ya felt he had fulfilled his responsibilities as a master, he turned his attention back to the people before him.
Zang Ya glanced at the man who had been restrained and gagged after screaming, and then at the other trembling people nearby. He thought if they made as much noise as the man had, they might frighten the shuanger in the next door.
After some consideration, Zang Ya decided to detain the main culprit while releasing the others.
.
When he woke up the next day, An Yun was roused by a knock on the door.
As An Yun awakened, he felt a bit confused at first, then realized he had been overly anxious the day before and had fallen asleep in that state.
Looking at the maids who entered to bring him something, An Yun wanted to ask a question but couldn’t decide what to inquire about.
It wasn’t until they left and Xiao Cui arrived with his medicine.
Xiao Cui was unusually cautious as she entered. Upon seeing An Yun sitting there, looking paler than usual, concern washed over her.
“Fulang, how could you be so daring last night, going to the young master’s place? If young master didn’t feel sorry for you, you might have suffered greatly.”
Hearing this, An Yun sensed that Xiao Cui knew something definite. He first apologized to the caring maid, then asked, “What happened yesterday? Why was the young master so angry?”
Xiao Cui pursed her lips, reluctant to speak, but seeing An Yun’s pale face and fearful expression, she couldn’t keep it from him. “I’ll tell you, but you must promise not to tell anyone.”
An Yun listened attentively. In response to her plea, he managed a wry smile and said, “Even if I want to share, besides you, there’s no one else close to me in this courtyard. Who else would I talk to?”
Upon hearing this, Xiao Cui blushed slightly, despite knowing he was a shuanger.
After a moment, Xiao Cui composed herself and recounted the events to An Yun.
