Chapter 1142: The Talisman Glows Again
"Of course I want it!" The man instinctively replied.
But as soon as he realized the voice was that of a girl, he froze, "Who's there!"
The others immediately stood up as well.
Ye Lingfeng pinched the bridge of his nose, feeling frustrated.
He couldn't believe it; he'd just lost track for a second, and his little girl had dashed out.
Fine, let her go. He was tired of listening to these pests.
He had expected something serious, but it turned out to be just a bunch of lowlifes.
With a flick of his wrist, the fire talismans in their hands shot out immediately. They ignited without any visible flame and landed on the Enchanting Bugs, sending them scattering in all directions, creating a clear path. A faint smell of roasting meat wafted through the air.
"Go." Ye Lingfeng commanded.
In the blink of an eye, several figures dashed forward, subduing the men with swift strikes.
As for the Love Bugs on their bodies, a quick fire had driven them off.
The men's clothes caught fire, and they screamed, rolling on the ground in panic. In the process, many of the bugs were either burned or crushed to death.
The foul stench of the bugs soon filled the air.
Zhouzhou took a few steps back, clearly disgusted.
The men continued to roll on the ground until they finally managed to extinguish the flames.
Before they could even catch their breath, Zhouzhou walked toward them, holding an Enchanting Bug in her hand.
The sight made them freeze in place. Though they weren't overly afraid (after all, the bugs wouldn't harm their owners), they were nonetheless uneasy.
Zhouzhou was aware of this.
She placed the Enchanting Bug on one of them, but it wouldn't go inside.
Her brows furrowed, and she coldly said, "If you won't go in, I'll send you on your way!"
She sounded fierce, but the men didn't take her seriously.
"Ha, she thinks she's the Bug King, huh? No way those Enchanting Bugs would listen to her."
However, the next second, the Enchanting Bug, as if terrified, dove straight into the man's body without hesitation.
Zhouzhou nodded in satisfaction, grabbed another bug from the ground, and placed it on another man.
Their faces changed instantly.
These two bugs were Love Bugs!
There was no way out now. Love Bugs were the best-selling kind.
But the trouble was, they were all grown men!
They widened their eyes in fear, trying to shake off the bugs, but once the Love Bugs entered their bodies, they started to take effect.
The men stared at each other, their eyes growing increasingly glued to each other.
Their dark faces flushed with shyness.
"Second Brother, I love you."
"Third Brother, me too."
Before long, they were hugging each other.
Zhouzhou instantly stopped cracking sunflower seeds. This was way too uncomfortable to watch!
Ye Lingfeng's temple twitched. He should've just killed them first!
He darkened his face and covered Zhouzhou's eyes, scolding, "Stop dirtying your eyes."
Zhouzhou obediently stopped trying to pry his hand away.
She too found the scene revolting, with no sense of the refreshing bond shared between Sister Marvelous and Uncle Wan.
Such a pity they wouldn't even look at each other now.
What a shame.
Ye Lingfeng dragged Zhouzhou out, throwing a glance at Chen Tuo, signaling him to handle things from here.
Before long, the smell of roasted meat wafted from inside, mixed with the scent of the Enchanting Bug King they had burned as well.
Zhouzhou sniffed the air and couldn't help but swallow. Turning to Ye Lingfeng, she asked, "Dad, do you smell something good?"
Ye Lingfeng replied, "...I'll take you to barbecue later."
As if he were lacking in food. Why was she suddenly craving all kinds of meat?
He sighed deeply, shaking his head at his little girl with helplessness.
Hearing his response, Zhouzhou nodded eagerly. She wasn't even interested in the current situation anymore.
Eating bugs was just too gross.
Before long, Chen Tuo and the others had wiped out all the Love Bugs.
The culprits were dragged out.
"Just as they said," Zheng Yu typed rapidly on his computer. "They nurtured the Enchanting Bugs for money."
Soon, he found a list, one he had traced back through their bank transactions.
"They are all the buyers."
Zhouzhou quickly leaned in to take a look, her gaze landing on a person named Lan Rourou.
It seemed she was the one who planned to use the Love Bug on Sixth Brother. Zhouzhou didn't know if she had succeeded.
Thinking of this, Zhouzhou grew anxious. "Dad, I have to hurry back to check on Sixth Brother!"
Although Sixth Brother was a bit of a fool, he was still manageable.
The bigger issue was his lovestruck mind—it was a money pit!
Sixth Brother had always had a poor head on his shoulders, and if he got into trouble with the Love Bug, the entire Qin family would be sold out!
But that wasn't going to happen. No way!
Determined, Zhouzhou clenched her fists, nodding with resolve in her eyes.
Ye Lingfeng nodded as well. "Alright, let's go. I'll take you to the airport."
Just as they were about to leave, a group of people suddenly approached.
It was the police.
Behind them was someone Zhouzhou recognized: Luo Jin.
She glanced at him and, though she wasn't initially planning on engaging, her eyes brightened. "Brother Fox!"
Zhouzhou rushed forward, her expression full of joy.
Luo Jin looked at her, raising an eyebrow, surprised to see her here.
Ye Lingfeng stepped forward, asking in a low voice, "What are you doing here?"
Luo Jin tilted his chin slightly, replying casually, "I came to help."
Upon hearing this, Ye Lingfeng understood immediately.
Luo Jin was in charge of handling supernatural events for the Spirit Group. However, this time it was about the Enchanting Bugs, not the Mystery Sect's business.
He couldn't handle it; it was up to his daughter, who was truly talented.
Luo Jin rolled his eyes, seemingly annoyed by Ye Lingfeng's unspoken thoughts, but didn't bother to address them.
The police who had come with him handcuffed the suspects and led them to the police car. The men kept resisting, unwilling to part, even shouting "I love you" to each other as they got into the car.
The police, disgusted, nearly vomited.
Annoyed, they shoved them into the vehicle, and then turned to Luo Jin, respectfully saying, "Master, we'll leave the rest to you."
"Mm." Luo Jin nodded indifferently, remaining aloof in front of outsiders.
The police didn't mind; as they walked away, one couldn't help but mumble, "It'd be nice if we had a dedicated unit to handle these kinds of cases."
They were committed to a materialistic worldview, but sometimes, when faced with strange incidents, it was hard not to wonder if there was something supernatural involved.
They couldn't say that out loud, of course. If they did, they'd just be laughed at.
It was embarrassing to think about, too—blaming ghosts when they couldn't solve a case.
And if they couldn't break the case, they'd blame ghosts. They didn't want to be the laughing stock.
Maybe they needed a special agency that handled supernatural cases. That would be so much easier.
At this moment, Zhouzhou suddenly felt her bag heating up.
She reached inside and froze for a moment.
The talisman from the Ancestral Master had started glowing again.
