Chapter 3
This was a naturally formed cave.
It was large, clean, airy, and comfortable.
Due to a substantial amount of treasure piled up, countless huge luminous pearls rolled randomly in the corners. Despite being a semi-enclosed space, the lighting was quite good.
There were no weeds, no mosquitoes, and the cave was so clean that not even an ant can be found.
The only perilous element was the long, thick black snake that lazily laid in the mud, often flicking its tail to gaze at itself in the mirror.
At this moment, it was gracefully twisting its huge snake body, admiring itself in the mirror.
During the night, it slept on its side atop the treasure mountain, maintaining the same posture as when unconscious.
Covering his face with his hands, Wan Zhong breathed as calmly as possible, observing the surroundings through his fingers. He pondered repeatedly, considering the possibility of escaping from this place.
Although the cave’s environment was excellent and appeared safe, no matter what the advantages, it couldn’t alter the fact that this was the lair of the black snake.
Wan Zhong found sharing a room with a giant snake, capable of devouring him at any time, was a constant challenge for his heart. If this continued, he feared he would eventually suffer from cardiac arrest due to excessive fright.
Pinching his palms, he tried to dismiss the black snake with its peculiar behavior and terrifying size, focusing on the hole allowing a trickle of light.
‘To escape:
1. Descend from the high treasure mountain.
2. Navigate around the large, mysterious pool in the cave’s center.
3. Walk approximately a hundred meters along the stone wall, almost reaching the cave entrance.’
Wan Zhong went unnoticed by the black snake. With thoughts of escape, Wan Zhong planned to wait for the snake to leave in search of food, seizing the opportunity to slip away.
It was time to act, to gather strength, and strive to survive.
Eyeing the basket of snake fruits on the ground, Wan Zhong unconsciously swallowed. Just as hunger struck and he contemplated eating, the snake, playing in the mud, discarded its mirror, straightened its body, and focused its gaze on him.
.
Wan Zhong closed his eyes, his stomach betrayed him with an unsatisfied “Gulu~” sound.
In the darkness, the noise of the black snake twisting and crawling on the ground echoed. The scraping of its scales against the ground sent shivers down his spine. After a while, the black snake crossed the pool and approached him.
Wan Zhong considered pretending to be asleep, but as the snake looked down at him, water drops fell on the snake’s face and body, carrying a faint earthy fragrance. Even without looking, he sensed the bloodthirsty and indifferent dark green vertical pupils of the black snake staring at him.
He was so scared that he instinctively curled up and buried his head in his arms, trying to reduce his presence.
But then the black snake realized he was truly awake and immediately tapped him twice with the tip of its tail. It then lowered its head, rolled up a fruit from the basket with the snake tongue, and fed it to him.
It was hard to be in a room with a beast, he couldn’t ignore or pretend it didn’t exist. When he felt the black snake poking at him with increasing force, he no longer dared to hesitate. He opened his eyes, with trembling long and thick eyelashes, and carefully picked up the fruit rolled on the tip of the tongue.
“Thank you… thank you, thank you,” Wan Zhong said with a bit of flattery and a bit of a stutter.
However, he didn’t expect that the black snake would not accept this trick. It slapped away Wan Zhong’s trembling hand with the tip of its wet and slippery tail, handing the snake fruit rolled on the tip of its tongue to his mouth, as if asking him to pick it up with his mouth.
Wan Zhong felt a thump in his heart. Seeing the black snake fed him in the same way that ordinary animals fed their young, he immediately understood that the black snake was raising him as reserve food. While feeling furious, he became more determined to escape.
He tried to refuse: “No, don’t bother, I, I-”
The black snake didn’t wait for him to finish speaking and immediately wrapped its tail around him, sitting him up. In Wan Zhong’s extremely frightened eyes, the snake used the tip of its forked tongue. The snake opened his upper and lower jaws and stuffed the fist-sized snake fruit into Wan Zhong mouth.
Afraid that he wouldn’t be able to eat enough, the snake thoughtfully put the tip of its tongue against the fruit and pushed it in.
They were so close at that moment.
Wan Zhong could even see the black line in the black snake’s green vertical pupils.
He opened his mouth, about to be dislocated, and used the tip of his tongue to resist the fruit stuck between his teeth, being pushed in by the black snake. At the same time, as ten thousand grass and mud horses galloped inside his head, he really wanted to risk his life and work hard against it!
But… he was timid and didn’t dare.
Wan Zhong stupidly held the fruit that was about to burst his mouth. He saw the black snake holding the second fruit and wanting to feed him again. He immediately started struggling, and the shirt were all covered by the black snake. Two of the sharp scales on the tail scraped the shirt off.
“Woo~!” He was really anxious.
A pair of bright and hooking peach blossom watery eyes condensed a speed visible to the naked eye. At the same time, the ends of the eyes were also stained with crimson wet marks.
Small blue veins popped up on Wan Zhong’s fair and slender neck. The veins went down along the beautiful and uneven collarbone and extended into the messy neckline tightly wrapped by the black snake’s tail. The whole person looked pink due to congestion. When he shook his head pitifully at the black snake, a small whimper came out of his throat.
The black snake felt the blood flow in Wan Zhong’s body soaring rapidly. When its tail was warmed by his body temperature, it relaxed unconsciously.
It bent down a section of its snake body and looked at him. Its dark green vertical pupils were like two large green lanterns, reflecting the embarrassed Wan Zhong into a its eyes.
Wan Zhong only looked at the black snake for less than a second before he rolled his eyes and fainted again.
.
This time, he slept for a long time before slowly waking up.
Happily, the black snake wasn’t there.
Wan Zhong immediately ran down from the piles of treasures, took the golden dagger that he had finally found, and ran away.
No matter how anxious he was, he didn’t forget to take away the snake fruits on the ground in the basket…
