Chapter 006:
Chapter 006: The Bond Between Senior Sister and Junior Brother:
Yesterday, Xie Qingshuang had received a Lingxuan Command to go to White Maple City to eliminate a demonic cultivator. She had just completed her mission and returned to the Heavenly Mystery Sect.
Upon returning, she was stunned by the news she heard:
Song Ye had actually jumped into the Fallen Immortal Pool!
She could more easily believe that the mysterious Lady Liyin agreed to dual-cultivate with the Demon Lord Chenlou, or that the hermit nun Mishan had left her order to marry, than believe that Song Ye had been driven to jump into the Fallen Immortal Pool.
Xie Qingshuang quickly learned the details from a junior sister.
But she knew Song Ye well; he was as shameless as they came—thicker-skinned than the walls of the Xuan Emperor City.
He adored every beautiful fairy he saw, and even if they rejected him, he’d persistently pursue them.
The love letters he’d written could probably withstand a blow from the mighty demon Nightshade.
And once, he’d even proposed that they dual-cultivate together.
That was practically saying to her, “I love you; let’s spend our days together!”
How could someone like him jump into the Fallen Immortal Pool over a minor grievance?
But the truth was right before her, and she had to accept it.
Though Song Ye was shameless and overly infatuated, he had indeed helped her greatly. If not for him giving her his monthly share of Condensing Essence Pills, she wouldn’t have entered the Lingxuan Pavilion so quickly.
Yet all these years, she had ignored his kindness and avoided him, unwilling to say a single word more than necessary.
She didn’t want him to harbor any false hopes about her.
In her mind, she had justified her coldness as helping him—protecting him from getting too deeply involved.
Thus, she had accepted his support with a clear conscience.
But today, upon hearing that he had jumped into the Fallen Immortal Pool, guilt began to stir within her heart.
As she walked toward the Sect Master’s Hall, her thoughts kept circling back to the cause of his actions.
The punishment on the Punishment Platform wasn’t the real reason he jumped—it was merely the last straw.
The root cause might well have been her!
Her years of coldness, avoidance, and rejection had wounded him repeatedly. She had accepted his efforts without ever giving him anything in return.
Now, she wanted to do something to make up for it.
“You want me to re-admit Song Ye as the Heavenly Mystery Sect’s disciple?” Xie Liuzhen’s eyebrow rose slightly, her tone hinting at displeasure.
“Forgive my boldness, Sect Master,” Xie Qingshuang said, still kneeling. “The ancestral rules state that any disciple who jumps into the Fallen Immortal Pool must be expelled from the sect immediately. But there’s no rule against re-admitting them later.”
“So, technically, as long as the Sect Master agrees, Song Ye can be accepted back into the sect!”
Xie Liuzhen gave a cold laugh. “Oh, so you’re looking for loopholes in the rules? But I suppose it’s not impossible.”
Seeing the Sect Master’s reaction, Xie Qingshuang felt a glimmer of hope and quickly added, “Sect Master, over the years, Song Ye has fought for the sect’s interests and has even done many things for you. I implore you to consider his past contributions and allow him to return.”
She wanted to mention how Song Ye had cared for the Sect Master’s flowers and warmed her elixirs, but such things seemed trivial, so she chose the vague phrase “many things” instead.
However, Xie Liuzhen’s expression remained cold. “But Song Ye is now a cripple. There’s no reason for me to take him back as a disciple.”
“Sect Master, when I was studying ancient texts in the Lingxuan Pavilion, I came across a mention of a long-lost technique to restore one’s immortal veins. I believe I can help Song Ye regain his, so he may continue cultivating,” Xie Qingshuang explained. “But finding this technique will take time. I hope the sect can temporarily shelter him to protect him from danger.”
“After all, as a former disciple of the sect, Song Ye has made enemies among many demonic cultivators. If they discover he’s powerless, they’ll certainly seek revenge.”
Xie Liuzhen fell into contemplation.
Xie Qingshuang’s concerns mirrored her own.
On the Xuanhuang Continent, killing someone as weak as Song Ye was no more difficult than crushing an ant.
Moreover, Song Ye had indeed made enemies among demonic cultivators, and often, his feuds were over women.
For example, last July, when Fairy Du Lianyue from the Saint Xin Palace was poisoned and needed high-grade demon beast blood for the antidote, Song Ye had stolen a pet demon from Su Changming, an elder of the Divine Demon Sect, and used its blood.
If not for the Heavenly Mystery Sect protection, Su Changming would have torn Song Ye apart long ago.
So, without the sect’s protection and without cultivation, Song Ye wouldn’t survive long outside.
Xie Liuzhen also wanted the sect to temporarily shelter him to keep him safe—and perhaps to keep someone around who would still warm her elixirs!
Most importantly, this task would be carried out by Xie Qingshuang herself.
By having Xie Qingshuang bring Song Ye back, the gossip about a “master-disciple romance” would shift focus to a “senior sister and junior brother bond.”
Xie Qingshuang was well-known, and the tale of her relationship with Song Ye would certainly provide endless inspiration to storytellers.
With Xie Qingshuang taking the lead, they would stop spreading rumors about her own supposed romance with Song Ye.
This way, Xie Liuzhen could protect Song Ye’s life while letting Xie Qingshuang handle the fallout—two birds with one stone.
“Allowing Song Ye to stay in the sect temporarily as a menial worker is possible,” Xie Liuzhen finally said. “Whether he can be fully re-admitted will depend on whether you can find a way to restore his immortal veins.”
Xie Qingshuang was overjoyed. “Thank you, Sect Master! I’ll head down the mountain now to bring Song Ye back!”
