Chapter 30: [30] Invasion Of CIA Headquarters
Virginia, Langley, night.
All the members of the newly formed X-Men were gathered here.
Yes, all of them.
After making plans to infiltrate CIA headquarters, the severely injured Magneto insisted on participating in the operation. According to Magneto, this was the first mission of the X-Men, and as a member, he didn't want to miss it.
And so, despite his injuries, Magneto had come along.
Brian glanced at Magneto.
At this moment, Magneto was wrapped in bandages like a mummy.
He sat in a wheelchair that floated in the air, controlled by his powers.
Even in his current state, Magneto still managed to maintain an impressive air, living up to his reputation as someone who commanded attention wherever he went.
"Alright, Brian, it's up to you and Raven now," Professor X said. "Magneto and I will wait for you outside."
In the darkness, Professor X approached Brian, placing a hand on his shoulder and speaking in a serious tone.
"If things go wrong, we'll move in to assist."
Magneto, sitting in his wheelchair, added a reminder.
He had originally wanted to enter CIA headquarters with Brian and Raven, but his injuries left him barely able to move a finger. Going inside would only slow them down. So, he resigned himself to offering support from the outside.
"Let's go, Raven," Brian nodded, taking Raven's hand as they stepped out of the shadows and headed toward CIA headquarters.
As for why Professor X wasn't simply controlling the minds of everyone in the CIA, Professor X had a strict moral code when it came to mental manipulation.
He refused to use his powers against ordinary people.
Though Brian found Professor X's "mental cleanliness" a bit laughable, there wasn't much he could do to change the Professor's stance.
'Yeah, like using those powers to get inside a women's pants in a bar is not 'mental manipulation'. '
"Brian, I'm a little nervous," Raven admitted.
The dim street was silent, the only light coming from the brightly lit CIA headquarters ahead. As they approached, Raven's heartbeat quickened, and she couldn't help but feel anxious.
"Relax, Raven. I'll take care of everything," Brian reassured her.
Brian gently held Raven's arm and spoke softly.
Seeing how close and reassuring Brian was, Raven managed to calm herself.
She took a deep breath, and the blue scales on her body shifted like flowing water as she transformed into Moira.
Brian couldn't help but admire Raven's flawless transformation. It wasn't just convincing—it was perfect. Even the CIA uniform was replicated with stunning accuracy.
"Let's go, Agent Moira~" Brian said with a chuckle, nodding to Raven.
The two walked confidently toward the gate of CIA headquarters.
Immediately, two CIA agents fixed their eyes on them.
"Please Stop," one of the agents said, stepping forward. He gave Brian a suspicious look before turning his attention to Raven.
"Please submit to routine verification."
The agent brought out an iris scanner and scanned Raven's eyes.
A moment later, the machine beeped, and all of Agent Moira's information appeared on the computer next to them.
"Agent Moira, welcome back," the CIA agent said with a sudden smile after confirming the information on the computer.
"And you..?"
He then turned to Brian and asked.
"Brian," Brian said while looking at the facility.
"Agent Moira, who is this guy?"
"Confidential," Raven replied casually.
Though she had only met Moira once, Raven had perfectly mastered her posture and manner of speaking. This was one of Raven's most impressive abilities.
Upon hearing "Moira's" response, the CIA agent immediately stopped asking questions. Agent Moira's clearance level was 6, making her a high-ranking officer, second only to the CIA senators.
In short, Moira outranked him, and she didn't need to explain anything to him.
"Agent Moira, Agent Brian, please proceed," the agent said, opening the door. Raven and Brian stepped inside.
"Agent Moira."
"Agent Moira."
"Good evening, Agent Moira."
As they entered CIA headquarters, every staff member and agent on duty greeted Raven with respect.
It was clear that Moira was well-regarded within the CIA.
Raven nodded calmly to those who greeted her as she and Brian continued through the facility.
As they walked, they took note of the security. There was a guard every few steps and sentries placed strategically. Various identity verification mechanisms were in place, and CIA agents conducted routine searches.
Almost every few steps, they were asked to verify their identities.
What surprised Raven, however, was just how effective Moira's credentials were. With Moira's status as an agent, Raven and Brian passed through all checkpoints smoothly.
But as they neared the CIA administrative building, they stopped.
Brian looked ahead at the imposing structure in front of them.
This was the heart of the CIA.
To enter, they would need more than just identity verification—they would require both fingerprint and iris scans, as well as a special ID card developed by the CIA.
The fingerprint and iris scans confirmed the agent's identity, while the ID card granted access to the administrative building.
"Brian, what do we do now?" Raven asked, a look of concern crossing her face as she stared at the building.
As the central hub of America's intelligence operations, CIA headquarters was not an easy place to infiltrate.
When Brian saw Raven's concerned expression, he remained unconcerned. Ideally, they would get inside without any issues, but if not, he was prepared to force his way through.
Just as Brian was considering the option of a violent entry, a CIA agent in a suit approached them.
"Moira? You just came out? Who's this?" the agent asked, looking at Raven with a puzzled but familiar expression.
Raven, unsure of the relationship between Moira and this agent, responded in a slightly stiff tone, "I'm here to pick up Agent Brian."
"Agent Brian?" The man in the suit frowned slightly. As a top agent of the CIA, he hadn't heard of any Agent Brian.
"Hello, I'm a covert agent," Brian said smoothly, stepping forward with a friendly smile. He extended his right hand toward the man. "I don't believe I've had the pleasure of learning your name yet."
"Levi, you can call me Agent Levi," the man responded with sudden realization.
No wonder he didn't recognize Brian—he must have been a covert agent. Looking at Brian's tall and well-groomed appearance, Levi assumed he had likely been sent on a secret mission to the Soviet Union by higher-ups.
"Come on, the high-level meeting is about to start," Agent Levi said politely to Brian, then took Raven's hand and led her toward the administrative building without further questioning.
Agent Levi and Raven underwent palm print, fingerprint, and iris verification. As for Brian? He didn't need to. After all, he was a "hidden agent."
Once the verification was complete, Agent Levi used his ID card to open the door and said to Raven, "Hurry up, Moira, Senator Scrilla is waiting for us."
With Agent Levi leading the way, Brian, Raven, and Levi entered the high-level council room inside the administrative building.
Inside, a high-level CIA intelligence meeting was in progress. The global situation had been tense lately, and CIA executives were regularly sending agents to infiltrate the Soviet Union to gather critical intelligence about their activities.
Just recently, Moira, who had been sent to the Soviet Union, brought back a critical piece of intelligence.
It was because of this intelligence that the CIA high-level officials had called for an emergency meeting.
In the conference room, a group of CIA officials sat with serious expressions, fully alert as they repeatedly reviewed the intelligence documents in front of them.
As Brian and Raven entered the room, they were handed an intelligence document by one of the staff members.
Brian glanced down at the document, immediately noticing the bold title:
'A Mutant with special abilities is suspected to have been found in the Soviet Union.'
At the bottom, it was signed by Agent Moira MacTaggert.
Brian couldn't help but mutter, "Wow."
He had wiped Moira's memory, making her forget all about mutants. And yet, here she was, having found evidence of mutants in the Soviet Union once again, just a few days later.
Brian didn't know what to make of it.
'Does Moira have some kind of special ability?' he wondered to himself.
"Agent Moira, tell us more about the mutant you discovered," a high-ranking CIA official suddenly said, addressing Raven with a serious expression as Brian was lost in thought.
