Academy Retirement Diary of the Student Council President

Chapter 1

Ordinary Person (Beombu), what does that mean?

Ordinary Person (Beombu), or Ordinary Sentient Beings (Beombujungsaeng) refers to 'Ordinary Person (Beombu) and Sentient Beings (Jungsaeng),' meaning 'common people,' 'all living, ordinary people.'

Originally, it derived from a Buddhist term meaning 'people of the secular world who live bound by worldly afflictions, unable to awaken to the truth of the Path of Buddhism'... or so the explanation goes.

However, if you ask many people, "What is an Ordinary Person (Beombu)?" the perception has changed to the point where they'll mention words like Beom/Bu, Cut in Half (Ban-gal-juk).

The word suddenly became popular after a shocking event: a character who had overwhelmingly maintained the position of the strongest early on was suddenly sealed away and, after being released, was brutally cut in half by the final boss and killed.

Because there was a similar character in a game I used to enjoy playing, I really liked that meme.

Never dreaming, not even in my wildest dreams, that I would possess that character.
