Chapter 40: An Angel’s Guardian
Hhaaa~
Letting out an exhale, Sora flexed and twisted his body as he continued to train in the Great Body Tempering Technique. Yet nothing happened, he no longer felt any improvement to his strength.
It has been 10 days since this occurred.
He kept at it, training once and then again without rest. However, there were no results.
Closing his eyes, Sora focused on every muscle in his body. He moved, trying to summon anything to help develop his strength. Sora clenched his fists and continued to repeat the Great Body Tempering Technique over and over.
The only thing that happened was his body growing tired and hot from his movements. His arms were growing heavier and his footsteps sluggish — the weighted restraints didn't help in the slightest either.
Suddenly, before Sora could finish the set, his arms and legs gave out. He fell to the ground with a heavy thud and he sighed, a small smile on his face.
Bang-bang-bang!
"What's with all the ruckus, Akanabe?"
A passing guard banged on the door and questioned Sora. He sounded a little furious, but Sora knew that it was just his job to intimidate the prisoners.
"It's evening, you know the rules. Keep the nose to a minimum."
The guard gave Sora a reminder before continuing his routine.
Letting his Quirk take his tiredness away and heal his muscles, Sora sat up after a couple of seconds. He crossed his legs and relaxed his entire body and cleared his mind.
Bang-bang-bang!
"You have a visitor, Akanabe."
Opening his eyes and exiting his meditation, Sora frowned, wondering who it could be.
His mother had already visited him earlier in the day with Toga. Usually Tartarus wouldn't allow a second visit within the same day, yet here it was. It was strange, who could be so important to be allowed to bypass this rule.
So, who is so important they will allow them to visit a prisoner?
…
Thud…
Thud…
Stepping through the hallway with clanking chains, Sora was led into a room. They let him enter before closing the door behind him and locking him in there. Looking around as he walked over to a chair, Sora sat down before looking forward and through a tempered glass.
Opposite of him, a small white furred being was sitting on a chair and smiling at him.
"It's surprising to find the U.A. Principal here."
Nezu, U.A.'s principal, chuckled and looked at Sora. He held a poker smile on his face as he sat before Sora.
"Greetings!"
Nezu appeared joyful realizing that Sora recognized him. He waved his paw at Sora and nodded.
"As you have noticed and said, I am Nezu.
I have come here today to see you, the person I looked forward to seeing develop into a grand hero."
Of course, Nezu only thought so due to the comradie he felt with Sora. As highly intelligent beings, Nezu believed he could have gotten along quite well with Sora. Even if deep down he felt that Sora was greatly smarter than him.
"A shame I turned into a villain."
Sora chuckled.
Nezu maintained his poker smile as he kept quiet. A short moment of silence passed before he nodded at Sora.
Opening his mouth, Nezu began, "Why did you save Toga?"
"She's a friend and someone I knew since young. I know for a fact that she is simply a victim of circumstance."
"How are you so sure? Are you not worried that she is deceiving you?"
Sora lips curled as he began grinning widely. He held back his laugh and simply replied.
"If I had such poor trust in someone I've known for so long and chose to believe someone I don't know, then I am not fit to be a friend."
Nezu smiled and stood up on his chair.
"Alright." Nezu placed his paws behind his back. "I've come for what I needed to now."
Sora watched as Nezu jumped off his chair and prepared to leave. His gaze followed Nezu and only stopped when Nezu turned around to look at him.
"I look forward to seeing you at U.A. again in the future. Even if you were excessive with your methods, your heart was in the right place. Try to learn some self-control," Nezu offered a piece of advice out of goodwill before leaving.
Leaning back on the chair, Sora smiled.
"Let's go, Prisoner Akanabe."
The door to the room was unlocked and opened. A guard stood at the door and called Sora out.

Outside of Tartarus, a car was waiting for Nezu.
The little furred sentient animal walked out of Tartarus with a smile on his face. He walked with his paws behind his back and watched as two individuals stepped out of the car. They walked over to Nezu anxiously and stood before him.
"Principal!"
Midnight, real name Kayama Nemuri, and Aizawa waited for Nezu to say something.
Although both were here due to their connection with Sora, both were here for different reasons. They are both heroes but their degree of closeness and strictness was different.
Nemuri had been worried about Sora, and although she couldn't forgive Sora for harming the heroes so harshly, she understood him. She wanted to know whether he was still a good person, a Hero, and not a Villain.
On the other hand, Aizawa was only filled with disappointment and anger towards Sora. As a future Hero, Sora not only acted to save someone without permission, but he had also gravely injured a group of heroes. In his eyes, Sora is a miscreant and should be labeled as a villain.
Nezu looked at both of them and jumped into the car.
"Sora is a good kid. He wished to save a friend and that's what he went to do. Even if he went beyond what he was supposed to, Sora had never once attempted to escape of harm the innocent.
He harmed those heroes, but they had deserved it for harming a defenseless individual and mocking them. He never once went overboard with the other heroes. Most of the damage that had occurred happened as a result of a deal he had made with the Rabbit Hero: Mirko."
At Nezu's words, Nemuri smiled happily whilst Aizawa began to glower. Yet he can not say anything to Nezu as he knew it would be futile.
Instead, Aizawa crossed his arms and sat down in the car's passenger seat.
"Yay!!"
Nemuri jumped and got in the car.

At Sora's family home, Toga was inside Sora's room.
She laid on his bed, hugging his pillow as she looked straight up at the ceiling. She was recalling the day she had today at school and wondered if it was really alright for her. To be free and enjoying a normal school life whilst Sora is locked away.
Her thoughts eating away at her.
Knock-knock!
Turning her head, Toga saw Akira step into the room and look at her with a small smile. Her hands were behind her back as she walked over to the blonde girl.
"Toga, do you want to be a hero?"
Toga raised her eyebrows in surprise at Akira's question. A hero? Did she want to be one?
Akira brought out her hands from behind her back and presented Toga a letter. It was a letter from U.A., where they were willing to accept Toga into the academy. If she were willing to be a hero, U.A. will keep its doors open to her.
"I…"
Taking the letter into her hands, Toga looked at it and remembered how Sora had saved her.
She didn't want to be a hero, but she wanted to be there to help Sora. To be strong and not need his help. She wanted to tell him not to worry. She will tell him that she is strong enough.
Toga's eyes burnt brightly and she looked up at Akira.
"I'll do it."
Akira nodded. "That's great, honey. Do your best."

Deep beneath Sora's family home, Eve stood in front of a little girl with bandages in her arms and legs. The little girl ate the cake that Eve had bought for her, crumbs all over her adorable little face.
Eve stood there, studying the little girl.
"Eri, do you want some milk?"
"Mm!"
Eri nodded meekly, her innocent little eyes looking into Eve's eyes. Grabbing a cup of milk, Eve gave it to Eri and watched her drink it curiously.
After drinking her milk, Eri went back to eating cake. Meanwhile, Eve pulled out a book titled 'Parenting 101'.
She was ready to wholeheartedly care for Eri. She had gathered many books to read, clothes for Eri, food, drinks and even a toothbrush for her little teeth. Reading through the book, Eve suddenly remembered that she had forgotten to get Eri a bed, a towel, child shampoo, toothpaste, and training potty.
Luckily she had the machines Sora had built for her to use and create these necessities.
"I promise to be a good mother for you, little Eri." Eve walked over to the little girl and caressed her hair.
Eri turned her head and looked at Eve before smiling happily.
"Mm!" But as she smiled and nodded at Eve, Eri suddenly grew curious about something. "What about my dad? Who will be Eri's dad?"
Tilting her head, Eri looked at Eve with wide and innocent eyes.
"That will be my master," Eve said without even taking the time to think about it. "My master Sora will be your father. He will protect you whenever and wherever you are."
"Really?" Eri asked with a low voice, her head low. "Will he stop the bad people from taking me away?"
Eve nodded, a wide smile on her face.
"He will always be there to protect you."
