A World Jumper

Chapter 17: Chapter 13

Clu was sitting on his throne and he was raging inside and by his side was Jarvis, who was  Clu's intelligence officer and chief administrator in Clu 2's regime.Jarvis is a sycophant and frequently tries to impress Clu with actions that often have the opposite effect. His cowardice manifests itself whenever he is threatened, even to the point of saluting those who might do him harm to be spared

He was bald and wears black with red circuitry, topped by a transparent visor attached directly to his scalp.

Club glared at Jarvis and questioned, "Who was that armored figure?"

Jarvis gulped and answered, "We don't know sir, but we are still searching for him."

Clu was angry and turning to Rinzzler said"Serch every part of the Grid to find out any information about that figure. I want it done immediately."

Rinzzler nodded and took some guards with him, while Clu sat on his throne and muttered"It is definitely not Flynn.....then who"

While Quorra said with her eyes still fixed on the road. "All of your questions will be answered soon."

Sam decided to take her advice. He didn't even flinch when they headed right for the stark stone face of a black granite cliff —and through a secret door that opened automatically. The Light Runner stopped inside a dark, imposing hangar cut out of solid rock.

They both got out of the light runner, Sam noticed the guy in the armor standing there and next to him was Siren at the arena.

Then suddenly millions of nanites flew back into the necklace, swirling back into another ordinary everyday suit, Sam was shocked seeing this and in awe whispered"That is nanotech."

Alexander smiled and gave a nod, while Quorra smiled and introduced both of tthem"This is Alexander and Gem"

Quorra gesturing towards Gem added"She was the one who warned us about your arrival."

Sam was still wary but nodded as Alexander, Gem and Quorra led Sam across the hangar and into a sealed chamber. Wall-to-wall windows at the front of the room made it clear that the chamber was perched on top of a mountain peak.

The room was huge and lit with flickering candles. Sam could see the grid in the distance. It was like looking at a glowing, radiant city through the tall, arched windows of a skyscraper.

The sole occupant was silhouetted against the grid lights. He sat cross-legged in the center of the massive space, his back to them.

The man didn't stir, even when Sam and Quorra's steps echoed on the polished floor.

Quorra went and told Kevin, who a rose and faced Sam. Kevin Flynn. Father and son stood silently, in awe of each other.

"Sam?" Kevin's voice broke with emotion.

Sam replied "Long time."

Kevin emotionally replied"You have no idea,"

While Sam gazed at the man before him. He was older now. Bearded and tired. But he was definitely dad. Kevin walked forward and touched Sam's shoulder, as if to reassure himself that his son was real and then hugged him, while crying and muttering "You're here. You're really here."

Sam teared up and nodded"I'm here."

"You're big." Kevin observed the obvious.

Sam replied. "And you're…old."

Kevin laughed. "How did you get here?"

"Well, Alan came over," Sam explained, weirded out by how normal this all seemed. "He got your page. Then I found your office under the arcade."

Kevin as if he'd just figured something out muttered"Oh...the pager! Of course,"

Quorra told Flynn"We got information from Gem that Clu had him on the Light Cycle grid,"she added"So we intervened."

Kevin thanked Alexander and Qiorra with his eyes. Then he crossed to the door. "dinner is soon," he said. "We'll continue our talk then…"

Sam watched his father walk out the door. "He's strange," Sam said.

Quorra explained"He thought he'd never see you again, he only started hoping again after Alex showed"

Sam looked at Alexander and asked"So you are not from here."

Alexander shook his head and explained his origin, which only shocked Sam.

That night during dinner, Kevin explained to Sam everything that happens since his disappearance.

Sam shook his head "Why didn't you fight?!"

Quorra quickly replied"He did,"

Kevin explained"Clu fed on my resistance. The more I fought, the more powerful he became. His first act was the elimination of the ISOs."

"The Purge," Quorra said. Sam swallowed hard. "Clu killed them all?" Kevin's expression turned grim.

"It was genocide." They sat in silence for a long time. Then Kevin led Sam, Alexander, Gem and Quorra onto a veranda.

"So," Sam said, taking in the view, "if the Portal was activated when I came in, it must be open now." His father nodded. "For a time, yes."

"So we can go. Home," Sam said. "We make a run for it, get you out of here."

"Sam, don't rush," his dad cautioned.

Sam cried"What do you mean?"

Alexander cut in"The Portal Clu knows It's going to close! and he knows we will make a break for it.It is risky"

Sam was confused, while Quorra tried to explain. "The moment Flynn is on the grid, Clu will stop at nothing to obtain his disc."

"My disc is everything,Sam," Kevin said. "The master key. The Golden ticket. The way out, and not just for me—"

Sam asked"What do you mean?"

"With my disc, it's possible for Clu to escape, too," Kevin said. "Our worlds are more connected than anyone knows. Clu figures if I can get in—"

"He can get out," Sam concluded. "And what then?"

"Game over for our world," Kevin said. "Clu doesn't dig imperfection."

Sam threw up his hands. "So this is it? We do nothing? We just sit here?"

Under his beard, Kevin's lips curled into a smile. "It's amazing how productive doing nothing can be."
