A Villainess pulled out the Sword instead of the Hero.

Chapter 37

As she turned toward Arthur, he took a step to the side, blocking her path.

“You said you were from Britain.” “Oh, yes…that’s right.”

Morgana looked up at him anxiously.

“Would you mind if I asked you to show me around Britain, then?” “…What?” “A guide to Britain.” “Why don’t you ask the person you’re looking for…” “Well, I’m from Avalon, so…”

No, let’s not talk about Avalon!

Morgana jumped and clasped her hands together, not daring to squeeze past him.

He was from the countryside. It wasn’t as if he didn’t know how people from Avalon were marrying in Britain now.

The noses of the British nobility soared, even with all the cajoling and bickering over dowries.

So much so, that many were lining up to marry into the British family.

Even the poorest of the poor and least able to participate in the central politics of Britain were given such attention.

In effect, being a member of a family in Britain was no different than being in commerce.

Judging from a brief exchange with Fay, he didn’t have parents either.

‘It’s hard being on your own…’

Morgana knew what it was like to be thrown into society without anyone on your side.

The thought of coming to Britain by himself must have worried too.

She sighed heavily and said,

“Okay. When’s a good time?”

After all, he’d helped her escape from the palace in Avalon, and now she wanted to help him here.

Survivors helping survivors.

“Well, I’m a very busy person. I have to find a maid again…”

When the call goes out for Guinevere’s maid, I have to be prepared and ready to go.

Confucius simply laughed as she stammered.

“Will you give me two hours a day?” “Mmm, okay.”

Morgana accepted his offer, feeling as if she’d been reeled in.

The next day, Morgana dragged herself out of bed with great difficulty.

Even if her body had recovered from the mountain, it still took a toll on her mentally.

As she opened her eyes, she felt the stares.

‘Another… kidnapping?’

Turning my stiff head to meet a pair of piercing, aquamarine eyes in the doorway, I asked.

“Arthur…?” “You’re up.” “What are you looking at?” “…Nothing, a new maid is on her way from a favor to Raon.”

At this point, finding a maid felt a little fed up.

She could only assume that the maid was either a fraud or an assassin.

Morgana waved her hand in the air dryly.

“No more maids, I’ll just stay with Arthur for now.” “As you wish.”

For some reason, Arthur’s voice seemed to have risen slightly.

His expression didn’t change much from before, so I knew it was an illusion.

“I’m meeting with Confucius today, Arthur, and I have a favor to ask of him.” “Go ahead. Do I have to kill him?” “I don’t think you’ll have to.”

Arthur does not yet know that she has been in Avalon.

Being such an inflexible person, Morgana wanted to keep it from him as much as possible.

It’s a bit unfair.

‘Avalon rejects her as a bastard, Britain hates her for having Avalon’s blood.’

She wondered if she really did not belong anywhere. Her position was still unstable and precarious.

At least she had money.

“First of all, when you escort Confucius today, can you walk a little further away from him?” “Please tell me why.” “Well, it’s… complicated, to say the least.”

I told him not to mention Avalon, but I didn’t trust him when I saw Confucius talking.

Morgana pulled out the Carnwennan she’d hidden in her dresser drawer and handed it to him.

“And here’s yours, I’m giving it back early since it’s almost due.”

My heart tightened now, as if I might break the blade if I kept it.

Maybe I should buy a dagger for my escort while I’m out today.

“The deadline you gave me is not yet over.” “What?” “It’s not over yet.”

Arthur stared at her, his face sinking even further.

He had offered to escort her to receive Carnwennan. Yet he would take it later.

His azure eyes were fixed on her, not on Carnwennan.

“So please do so after the day is done.”

The royal streets of Britain were always bustling with people from many different countries passing through.

If someone wanted to meet someone, they had to look for them, and it could take forever.

Morgana poked her head out of the bustle.

 “He must be around here.”

A few blocks away, a giant fish-shaped sign caught her eye.

The almost whale-sized fish was perched on top of a building that served as a meeting place.

It was oddly realistic, but at least there were no recognizable faces in front of the sign.

‘I chose this place because you’re from Avalon, so I don’t think anyone would recognize you…’

Confucius had more manners than I expected for a man from the countryside.

He even kissed the back of my hand in greeting.

‘What would you have done if I were a commoner?’

Even in Britain, Confucius’ appearance was unusual.

He was a couple of heads taller than her, with a fierce, upturned gaze.

He was quite cold and aloof, but he was always smiling, so I didn’t find him off-putting.

Just as I was about to question it, I saw him in the distance.

‘Thank goodness you came to the right place!’

As soon as I spotted him, I made my way to him, but unfortunately, the mercenaries blocked my path.

“Hey, there’s been a lot of mercenary recruitment lately. Is there a problem?” “Uh, didn’t you know? Why, one of the monsters died or something, so there are a lot of vacancies.” ” Oh, I know. Things have been so tumultuous lately, I thought the continent was going to fall apart.”

Arthur was alive and well, so why was he suddenly gone?

He’d only been gone for a little over three weeks. I had no idea his absence would have such an impact.

It also meant that he was a frequent raider.

Arthur was probably following somewhere behind the crowd.

Morgana patted the mercenary on the back for speaking up.

The mercenary grunted and jerked away from the conversation.

“What the hell?” “He’s not dead.” “What? What the hell are you talking about?” “You freaking mercenary, he’s not dead.”

The mercenary made a gruff face, as if puzzled.

“How would you know that, young lady?” “Because I’m going to bring him back in one piece, so don’t start any rumors. Do you understand?”

Well, if I cut off Arthur’s line of income for a while, that would be bad as hell.

Morgana tapped the mercenary on the arm.

I’d seen Raon and Arthur end most of their conversations this way.

Leaving the mercenary staring open-mouthed, Morgana pushed through the crowd.

She could see the fish sign in front of her, but it wasn’t easy to reach.

As she made her way through the people, a strong arm snatched her out of nowhere.

 “I thought something had happened.”

Apparently, Confucius, who had been waiting, had found her first.

When he saw Morgana wiping the sweat from her brow, he glanced behind her and asked.

“You’ve been talking to the big guys. If there’s danger ahead, just wave something, even a finger or a lock of hair.”

Wasn’t that just a normal waving thing?

“He was just making a comment, so I corrected him.”

Morgana chuckled and shook her head.

“Let’s go, shall we? The arms dealer first.”

Unlike Avalon, Britain was the only place left with any remnants of demons.

As such, the arms dealers were more numerous and active than in Avalon.

Especially since the border crossing from Avalon required a trip across the country, there was a high chance of encountering demons.

It was also why wagons to Britain were so expensive.

Morgana asked as she led him through a street lined with arms dealers.

“Speaking of which, how did you manage to get here, Confucius?” “I saw some blood. One of my escorts is sensitive.” “Are you injured, and is it okay for you to walk around like this?” “The more time I spend here, the healthier I’ll get.”

Does that mean…?

It turns out the sensitive mercenary had been injured fighting a demon on the way here.

It was a common occurrence in Britain.

As I walked along, listening intently, I unwittingly found myself in Lennon’s arms shop.

This was why habits are scary.

It was a place Morgana had frequented before, so it was all too familiar.

I was about to step back when I realized that I shouldn’t have.
