A Village Appeared on My Desktop

Chapter 184

Chapter 184 – Savior (4)

“Indeed, those guys have completely vanished… It’s clear they all gathered as seen.”

“Thanks to that, we can move quickly without any interruptions. Look over there, everything seems fine ahead.”

At this moment, while the Allied Forces were engaged in fierce combat with the enemies, a group of individuals was directing their horses in a slightly different direction from the battlefield.

There were definitely signs that bugs had been present, like fallen trees and dug-up earth, but in the eerily quiet scenery, Rasen murmured softly and then chuckled upon noticing a bird flying in an eight-shaped pattern ahead.

The druid who had gone ahead on reconnaissance signaled that the area was safe with body movements.

“However, let’s not let our guard down. If there really is no problem, then that divine being might have moved them for us. The fact that they haven’t could mean we are not completely safe.”

“Isn’t that divine being also focused on the battlefield?”

“That can’t be. That individual can not only oversee faraway places but also entirely different worlds at the same time.”

Rasen shook his head at the warrior’s comment about the divine being being too busy to pay attention. From the perspective of the residents, seeing multiple monitors and quickly navigating them felt like a power transcending time and space.

In fact, the guess wasn’t entirely wrong. The reason he couldn’t just pick them up with the mouse was that there were neutral or hostile entities near their screen.

It was simply that there was no chance of running into them, so they were left alone.

“It seems we’re almost there…”

An elf named Balara, who was moving with them, held up a map and surveyed the surroundings. They had crossed the Land of the Elves at rapid speed without bug interference and were now heading toward the eastern border, adjacent to the empire, passing through what had become ruins.

“I’ve spotted survivors!”

“What?! Let’s hurry over there!”

During the process, they discovered several elves who had taken refuge. Their mission was to search for the refugees and send them to the safe zone at the Western Fortress.

Quickly turning their horses around to save the elves, they were indeed able to find survivors hiding in forests and valleys.

“Did you really say the Seed of the World Tree has been replanted?”

“Yes. So please go there quickly. Fortunately, the Black Monsters have been drawn to that direction due to the Allied Forces’ attack.”

The rescued elves were in a peculiar state of both wariness and gratitude. Most hadn’t heard any news while fleeing from the bugs.

“They’re still in contact, right?”

“Yes. They are still with the empire’s humans.”

However, the most important objective of the reconnaissance team was different. It was to bring back those who had crossed over into the empire and were now trapped there, with whom they were still communicating through the wind spirits.

“Wait, can I ask something? Did those Black Monsters chase other elves eastwards as well?”

“Ah, that’s probably the case. I didn’t see in detail, but a considerable number of monsters followed us, scattering behind.”

“Oh no. I wonder if they really went back as seen.”

At that moment, one of the Arin Tribe warriors asked the elves fleeing to the west. The ensuing testimonies from the elves caused him to sigh.

The bugs had already turned their heads eastward.

“We have no choice. We have to go.”

Rasen frowned but had no options. They began raising flags and making particular sounds to find the hidden elves and gradually moved closer to the east while sending them westward.

“I still haven’t heard any news about those strange monsters…”

“Then that’s a relief. Those guys are a terrible disaster.”

In the territory ruled by Baron Trope, a minor lord at the border of the empire.

While the Allied Forces battled fiercely against the bugs and Rasen’s reconnaissance team approached this location, Trope still couldn’t shake off his doubts as he had gone to a village on the outskirts of his territory.

He believed the elves’ appearance after seeing it with his own eyes, but he hadn’t yet confirmed the elves’ claims about the bugs’ invasion.

However, elves who were filled with extreme terror regarding the bugs were somewhat relieved that their words seemed to be losing credibility.

“It doesn’t seem like a lie. It definitely wouldn’t be a fabrication after appearing for the first time in hundreds of years.”

“But, my lord, if everything they say is true, that’s a big problem. Monsters that keep multiplying and growing stronger?”

That idea brought more confusion. Trope scratched his head and turned to the mage to whisper.

Then the mage explained that even if everything the elves said about the bugs was true, it wouldn’t be beneficial.

“They can’t abandon their homeland, so they said they would return. It’s right to let them go, right?”

The elves, having successfully notified that the border was clear through the wind spirits, asserted they would apologize for invading the territory but would now like to go back.

Though there was no justification to stop them, Trope felt a sense of regret and once again sought advice from the mage.

“I have already reported to higher-ups regarding the elves. If we cannot provide evidence when they request it, we might face disadvantages.”

“Oh dear, I hadn’t thought of that. Well, that’s true.”

Thus, the mage whispered that they should somehow persuade the elves not to let them go, just in case.

“Oh no! This is serious!”

Amidst this, trouble arose. Some factions that had heard rumors about the elves had crossed over the borders made void by the destruction of the World Tree and attacked the elves who had taken refuge to raid them.

They were moving much quicker than the lord, and the damage was already escalating.

“Ah, no. Those guys aren’t under my command.”

“Then you should hurry and catch them! If those monsters’ attention is drawn here, everyone will face doom!”

“Quickly send the soldiers!”

Panicked Baron Trope hastily mobilized troops to dispatch them to the border. However, the width of the border was too large compared to the forces the minor lord could gather, and the holes were still wide open.

At this rate, ‘anyone’ could traverse between the two territories.

“The first one caught was…”

“We sent that already. I saw it, so I’m insisting on capturing more.”

“The situation isn’t good, the resistance is too fierce. More than ten have already died.”

Near the border, a group of individuals was infiltrating into the forest again. Their sneakiness was suspicious, but they were thoroughly armed.

Though the elves were exhausted from fleeing, the combat skill of everyone trained in mana was not to be underestimated, necessitating greater numbers for ambush.

“The lord has moved. He intends to block us.”

“Hah! There’s no way to block this massive forest. Unless looking down from the sky, those tiny soldiers won’t be able to catch where we are or what we’re doing.”

Their leader sneered at his companion’s words. Though it was clear that if caught, they would be executed, they had the confidence not to get caught.

Just as he said, Baron Trope had no ability to seal off the entire border.

“Ugh, more of these guys… I wonder how bad the security must be for so many of these guys to be running around? Is this really that big of a deal? Right now, I don’t even have a hammer or chainsaw.”

However, they never imagined there truly was a being watching over them from the sky.

Though Junyoung spotted them, he couldn’t punish them ruthlessly as he had done up until now. He had exhausted everything usable while punishing those who had appeared elsewhere.

“There’s no help for it. I wanted to avoid being noticed as much as possible.”

Muttering softly, he lifted his mouse to move. Using the mouse, he commanded a unit, and through right-clicking, he forcibly moved them to Rasen and the Arin Tribe reconnaissance team, who were not too far away on the screen.

Since the distance wasn’t great, he intended to use them to take down the enemies.

“My body is moving on its own!”

“Don’t be too surprised. That being is guiding us.”

For the first-time elf, Balara’s eyes widened in surprise, but those who had experienced it several times like Rasen comfortably surrendered their bodies to the movement.

They all firmly believed he was leading them toward the right answer.

“What are those guys?”

Thanks to that, they could discover the bandits stealthily moving with no hesitation or confusion.

Soon, upon spotting each other, they instinctively drew their weapons and aimed at one another.

“Raze them!”

The assault began with Rasen’s shout. Seeing those who had suddenly appeared in the dark forest, Rasen was convinced they were enemies while the bandits were caught off guard and were the first to attempt an attack.

He was faster than the command for attack.

“Strike!”

The bandits, who had sharpened their knives to kidnap elves, were not to be underestimated either. Judging that it was favorable with just a few of them, they charged forward to resist amidst their shock.

“Aaaah!”

“W-what…”

However, as Balara rained bullets from the rifle she held and Rasen began casting magic, the battle was quickly decided.

The rapid gunfire swept through their bodies, and the magic shattered them before the warriors had a chance to act.

“Ugh…”

“We’ll interrogate the ones still alive.”

Thanks to that, they captured even a prisoner without a hint of sacrifice. One warrior picked up the bandit who was injured and groaning due to the magic.

“What are you guys? Do you know where this place is that you crawled into?”

“Eep.”

The panicked prisoner shivered and opened his mouth in a tremor. Although he was babbling, he begged for his life and revealed everything he knew.

He explained that information about the fleeing elves had already spread widely, and in the lord’s delay, these individuals had seized the opportunity to attack the refugees to kidnap and kill them.

They were shocked to hear that they had come because they had heard news of the high pay for capturing elves.

“If this information reaches the main force, it will have big consequences. The elves will be greatly enraged, and those who see them as allies in battle will also get angry.”

Knowing how tightly entwined their bonds had become through fighting together, they broke into a cold sweat.

If not careful, it could lead to a disastrous situation that would distort relations they undesirable wished to have with the empire.

“Indeed, worldly affairs are complicated.”

Keeping a watchful eye and gathering as much information in advance, realizing what kind of situation this was, he leaned back in his chair and bitterly laughed.

Everything is interconnected. It is impossible to cleanly conclude and start over like a game chapter in reality.
