Chapter 9: Cool
Flipping on the lights Noya took a look around the room while Energy Fist kept a close eye on him.
The room wasn't well put together, books were off their shelfs and on the floor, the curtains were shut, and there was a couch which seemed to be ripped apart.
"What happened here?" Energy Fist wondered.
"I suppose that's part of my job," Noya said walking over the couch.
"Please go quick if you can," Energy Fist asked, "It's like a refrigerator in here," he said
"I'll see what I can do," Noya replied.
Looking at the blue couch it had tears from fingernails along the handrest and along one of the cushions. Next to the torn up handrest there was an imprint of a person in the couch.
Noya took a guess and thought that the person most likely died here, but then the timeline wouldn't make sense.
The body wasn't stiff enough for the man to die and be left for a week, but the livor mortis showed that that was entirely possible.
"Maybe someone killed the man, broke in here, and kept the man here?" Noya spitballed, "No, then why would there be scratches," he the admitted.
Then weirdly, Noya felt some heat coming from behind him.
"Are you really that cold?" Noya asked turning around to Energy Fist producing heat from his hands.
"I'm not a fan of the cold," Energy Fist admitted.
"I'll be sure to list that as one of your weaknesses," Noya said turning back to the couch.
"Hey!" Energy Fist exclaimed.
'Think Noya what are you missing? A piece of information? Maybe, there's a chance if you talk to the other suspect, you can start smoothing somethings over.'
"I don't think there's anything more for us here," Noya told Energy Fist, "Let's go see the last suspect on the first floor," Noya said.
"Ok then," Energy fist said while turning of his quirk on his fist.
————————————————————————
"Excuse me, I need to ask you some questions," Noya asked knocking on the door of the last suspect.
"I don't care who they send!" a woman from the other side of the door yelled, 'I am not going to donate to some random charity!" she screamed.
"We are not here for that," Energy Fist tried to explain.
"Oh, then what are you here for. Trying to sell me something I bet!" she accused.
"Ma'am I need to talk to you about Mr. Hiroki," Noya told the lady.
"What did he do this time," the lady said with a sigh, "Did he imitate the hotel staff's voice again to try and get free cookies?" she asked.
"Mr. Hiroki has unfortunately died," Noya told the lady, "I'm sorry that I'm the one who had to tell you this," Noya said regretfully.
"What?" the lady responded caught off guard, "No, please don't joke around with something like that," she said in a hushed tone.
"Ma'am, please let me in and I'll explain all that I can," Noya replied.
Slowly, the door opened and the woman, who looked no older than twenty, saw the detective and the hero standing next to each other.
"It's true isn't?" she asked hopping for this all to be a joke.
"No, it is not," Energy Fist responded, "But with your help we might be able to catch the person who killed him!" Energy Fist said with passion.
"He was killed?!" the lady reacted in horror.
"Way to break the news to her," Noya whispered to Energy Fist, "May we come in?" he then asked.
"Of course, of course," the lady said, "Please make yourself conferrable," she said leading them inside.
"Thank you ma'am," Noya said finding a seat while Energy Fist just walked in and kept standing.
"Now, do you know about the person who lives in room 3087?" Noya said opening his notebook.
"That cold room, right?" the lady responded.
"Yes, do you know who stays in that room?" Noya asked.
"Nope, he usually doesn't come out too much, heard he's rich though," the lady responded.
"Ok, now you said that he mimicked other peopled voices, did anyone react to negatively to him doing that?" Noya asked looking for someone with a motive.
"Occasionally, but if someone reacted bad, he would apologize and never do it to them again," the lady said, "Maybe the government got him for some of his work on quirks!" the lady then said out of the blue.
"Ma'am," Noya said.
"Sorry," she apologized, "He was just a generally nice person, I don't know what would compel someone to kill someone like him," she said.
"No need to apologize," Energy Fist said, "I know you are going through a lot," he told the lady.
"Now when was the last time you spoke to Mr. Hiroki?" Noya asked.
"About a week ago, we were talking about bees," she said somberly.
"Bees?" Noya asked.
"Bees," she responded.
"Well ok then," Noya replied, "Finally, just to make sure any point in the last few weeks did you hear any weird noises?" Noya asked.
"No, nothing out of the ordinary," the lady responded.
"That will be all," Noya said getting up and closing his notebook, "Thank you for your time and you will be informed about any big updates," Noya said beginning to leave.
"No, thank you," the woman said.
"And don't fret," Energy Fist began to say, "Because this villain will cause you no harm!" he told the lady.
"Why thank you," the lady said watching to two leave and shut the door.
Walking forward Noya was lost in thought and was about to crash into a stone pillar.
"Woah there," Energy Fist said grabbing Noya and pulling him away from the pillar.
"Ah," Noya said snapping out of his stupor, "Sorry, was just thinking," Noya said.
"About the case?" Energy Fists asks.
"No I was thinking about bees," Noya said in a mocking voice.
"Sorry," Energy Fist aplogised.
"No, I'm sorry, just a little frustrated," Noya admitted, "Let me get another good look at the dead body," he said turning to the elevator.
"Got it," Energy Fist said.
After a time, they got to the elevator, called it, got on and began their way down.
Both were silent, Noya thinking and Energy Fist didn't want to interrupt Noya's thoughts.
Then the elevator dinged.
"Of course!" Noya said as Energy Fist started to get off the elevator, "Get back in here we have a criminal to catch!" he then told Energy Fist.
"You know who it is?" Energy Fist said surprised.
"Yes, now get back in here," he told Energy Fist, "I need your help to catch them."
