Chapter 4: Hellish Training
“—Is it alright? For those of us born with high regenerative abilities, there are different training methods.”
The day after I got caught sneaking out of the dorm to practise enhancement magic. As promised, Eresdia-Sama, who had preached to me like an otaku, said, “Come to the same place at midnight tonight. I will teach you magic.” So, here I am, standing on the wall again.
And now, I’m in the middle of a one-on-one lesson, trying to grasp just how amazing my physique is.
Also, I was told that it’s okay to speak casually.
Well, that makes it easier.
“A different training method?”
“That’s right. The method I’m going to tell you now can train both your magic power and your physical body.”
What a suspicious phrase that sounds like a scam advertisement.
If she weren’t a higher rank and a beautiful girl, I wouldn’t trust her at all.
As I directed a sceptical gaze at her, she continued, “First, activate enhancement magic without worrying about breaking your body. Then, fight me until your magic runs out… though I’ll keep going until my magic runs out too.”
“Wait, wait! I need some time!”
I had to interject at her absurdly straightforwardly for the hellish training method.
“What? Do you have a problem with my method?”
“Of course I do! Unlike you, I have low magic power. How many times do I have to fight you in your enhanced state before I can win?”
“I don’t want to either. If I could choose, I’d like to receive the *Wind King’s Arm Blade, Aardi Vinto Almu Kuringe*.”
“Is there a doctor around here?!”
Is she really that dumb?
The *Wind King’s Arm Blade* is an advanced magic spell, you know? It would slice me in half, turning me into minced meat!
I could regenerate, but I definitely don’t want to receive that attack.
While I was taken aback by her declaration, lost in the moment of revelling in the thrill of battle…
“—*Grant me power harder than steel, faster than a falcon, and stronger than a demon*—*Physical Enhancement Up*.”
An all-encompassing feeling took over me, accompanied by a faint silver aura surrounding my body.
I felt a bit of discomfort from increasing the output slightly compared to last time, but it was within the acceptable range.
I turned to Eresdia-Sama with a triumphant grin.
“What do you think? For a low-level, it’s perfect, right?”
“Wow… for having started learning magic just two months ago, that’s not bad.”
“See? See?”
This is amazing.
No one has ever praised my magic before, so it feels incredibly good, especially coming from a beautiful woman, even if she is a masochist.
While I was getting carried away, Eresdia-Sama closed her eyes as well…
“—*Grant me power*—*Physical Enhancement Up*.—*Grant me even greater extraordinary power*—*Arm Strengthening: Arm Up*, *Leg Strengthening: Leg Up*, *Vision Enhancement: Eyesight Up*.”
“Wait!?”
She casually unleashed a step-up intermediate enhancement spell, crushing my confidence without mercy.
On top of that, she even simplified the incantation.
Eresdia’s_Sama body was enveloped in a crimson aura, far more intense than my thin aura, expanding in power to an unimaginable level.
I was sweating coldly.
Oh man, is this for real? The gap is enormous!
I seriously feel like I can’t win.
While I was almost losing the will to fight, Eresdia-Sama let out a small breath and said, “Well, with my current strength, combining three intermediate spells with a low-level spell is my limit. I’m still an inexperienced rookie…”
“If you say that, then what am I? A piece of trash? Not even worth being called trash?”
Her harsh self-assessment made me tear up.
I really don’t want to do this… It’s going to hurt so much. I can’t even bear the thought of a compound fracture…
“…Can you go easy on me?”
“I don’t have any options like that available, you know?”
“Damn it!”
As I spat that out, I suddenly dashed forward.
I threw a serious preemptive punch.
Even if it was a low-level spell, I could reach her in an instant from a few metres away.
I planned to catch her off guard with just one hit.
With that determination, I swung my fist directly at Eresdia-Sama face without hesitation.
With a whoosh, as the wind rushed past, my fist was right on target for her face…
“—So slow. You’re not even worth receiving it.”
“?!”
Instead of hitting, I struck nothing but air.
To be more accurate, I had punched Eresdia-Sama afterimage.
And the voice came from directly behind me.
As my body went on high alert, I unleashed my strongest backfist—
—*Crunch!!*
With the sound of bones shattering, my body flew through the air.
Damn… I got hit in the face.
I can’t see, can’t hear.
But since I can still think, it seems my head hasn’t vanished completely.
However, thanks to the gift from the gods, *Infinite Regeneration*, my head immediately regenerated.
My vision returned, and I could hear again.
In my restored sight, Eresdia-Sama was staring at me with a surprised expression.
“Oh? You don’t die even when your head is half-destroyed, and you regenerate instantly. At this rate… you might have greater regenerative power than me.”
Is she for real? This woman is really something else… or is she just insane?
Is it really okay to target someone weaker than you without hesitation?
Isn’t a head injury usually fatal?
“Come on, stop dawdling and get up. We’re still going.”
“…I think I’m starting to understand why you’re alone.”
I muttered that softly as I stood there, and then I dashed off, half in tears.
…The knights are scary.”
