Chapter 44
The Lizard slithers through the dark, damp sewers, a sense of satisfaction coursing through him. His intricate scheme has succeeded, and he has successfully defeated both spiders and the formidable Kamen Rider. He is carrying a bag with tools and vials containing the potent lizard serum. At the same time, his loyal companion, Vermin, stands faithfully by his side, ready to carry out his next orders.
“Those nuisances will no longer be a problem for me. Now, no one will be able to stop me!”
His laughter echoes maniacally as he strides towards his next destination: the sewers where the Lizard bombed the area. The scene is a disordered jumble, with collapsed debris and fractured pipes forming a hazardous mound. Water seeps through, threatening to engulf the surroundings. Suddenly, a heap of rubble stirs. It ascends gradually, accompanied by grunting noises.
“AAAHHH”
Rising from the pile of rubble, Ace, Gwen, and Peter use all of their strength to push away the debris on top of them. Their suits protected them from the falling debris caused by the Lizard’s bombs. Although they were buried alive, with their superhuman strength, they worked together to push away the debris on top of them.
“Come on guys, just a little more!” said Ace
They summoned all their strength and pushed aside the rubble that had pinned them down. Afterward, they collapsed into a seat, gasping for air. The falling debris had abruptly halted Ace's transformation. Their suits were now coated in dust and grime, but thankfully, the material had held up, preventing any tears or punctures.
“I thought we were done for there for a second,” said Peter, sighing in relief and gasping for breath.
“It was a trap; he led us here to trap us and get crushed by the debris. But I guess he underestimated us, and we survived,” said Ace
“He got away, though,” said Gwen
“Are you okay, Gwen? You looked pretty hurt when Connors grabbed you,” said Ace, worried about Gwen.
“I’m fine; the suit protected me enough, and I have already recovered.”
“That’s good. We need to move, this place is getting flooded soon, and we need to find Dr. Connors again.”
As they moved away from the area, they searched for an exit. Suddenly, Peter noticed a trail of lizards leading off in a particular direction.
“Hey guys, check this out. These lizards are acting strangely. We should follow them. It might lead us to where Dr. Connors is.”
“Okay, lead the way, Peter. If you feel any danger, make sure to tell us.” Ace trusts Peter's instincts and senses that he might be onto something important. As they carefully follow the trail left by the elusive lizards, they stumble upon Connors' hidden lab.
“This must be his lab. Great job, Peter. We might know where he is now.”
“Aw! Thanks, man.”
As they searched the laboratory, they carefully examined every surface for clues about Connors' whereabouts. The messy tables were covered with test tubes, scientific notes, and complex equipment. They found pieces of reptiles and detailed research notes about their DNA intricacies among the scattered items.
Gwen stumbled upon a computer and decided to snoop through its files. As she delved deeper, she came across a map of New York with Oscorp ominously highlighted. Perplexed by this discovery, Gwen persisted in her investigation. Uncovering additional files made Gwen only heightened her unease as she pieced together more unsettling information.
“Guys, you need to see this,” Gwen said, calling for Ace and Peter. Then, she showed them what she had found on the computer.
In the computer was the Lizard's plan. They looked through it and felt shocked.
“He plans to turn all of New York into his private army.”
The Lizard's plan involved spreading the serum across New York City, causing those exposed to mutate into lizard-like creatures entirely under his control. The Lizard intended to make his way to Oscorp Tower to obtain the Ganali device, a powerful tool capable of distributing antigens and cures on a large scale. It has the potential to heal diseases across vast areas, including entire cities. He planned to load the device with the lizard serum and unleash it throughout the city, threatening the whole population.
Peter notices the machine used to create the serum and sees it has recently been used. “He has already made more of the lizard serum. If this is true, we need to stop him before we have a city full of lizard people,” he said
“We know where he is going to, Oscorp Tower. We need to get there before he does. I’ll Captain Stacy to evacuate the people in Oscorp.” said Ace
The three of them quickly left the sewers and headed toward Oscorp as soon as possible. On their way, Ace got in touch with Captain Stacy.
“Rider, what is it?” asked George
“Captain, I need you to evacuate everyone in Oscorp. The Lizard and Vermin are working together and planning to attack it.”
Ace explains what happened, and George feels the gravity of the situation.
“I’ll get my men to do it. I’ll also have my men surround the area to wait for them,” said George
“No, the Lizard has mutated even further and is now bigger and stronger. Confronting him would be suicide.”
“This is our job, Rider. We need to protect this city, but thanks for the heads up. I’ll have my men be ready.”
George hung up the phone, and Ace couldn’t help but feel worried. He glanced at Gwen, who had overheard the entire conversation. Even with her mask on, Ace could tell that she was very concerned.
“Don’t worry, Gwen. We will definitely stop them this time. We have no choice.” said Ace with confidence
Gwen heard Ace feeling his confidence, which gave her strength. “Right, I’m not losing to those overgrown animals again!”
Ace sees Gwen getting back into the swing of things and is satisfied. Afterwards, Ace calls up Izu.
“What are your orders, Ace-sama?”
“Izu, can you bring ‘those’?”
“You mean ‘those’? Is it time?”
“Yeah, it is about time I give it to them.”
“Very well, Ace-sama. I will be delivering them shortly.”
…
Norman Osborn is sitting at his desk in Oscorp Tower, contemplating what to do about Connors, who has gone missing and deleted all his research data on the lizard serum. Norman is frustrated because there is nothing he can do about it.
“Cough, cough, cough.”
Norman's chest tightened as he struggled to catch his breath, and he felt an overwhelming heaviness in his body. Retrieving his medication, he swallowed the pills and waited anxiously. Gradually, his body began to relax as the medication took effect, bringing relief.
“...It is getting more frequent now.”
*Knock Kncok*
“Come in.” Someone knocked on Norman’s office, and he let him in. His assistant came in and looked a bit worried.
“What’s wrong, Donald.”
“The police called, sir. They said a giant lizard and rat would soon attack the building. They wanted to evacuate the building.”
“What nonsense are you talking about,” said Norman, a bit irritated
“I’m sorry, but it is just what they said. Captain George Stacy called himself and sounded serious. What should we do?”
“Ignore them; a giant lizard and rat attacking Oscorp? How ridiculous.”
Meanwhile, George received the news that Oscorp had refused and said they wouldn’t evacuate. George was angry they wouldn’t listen to him.
“Dammit Norman. I want everyone to stay alert and notify if they see the Lizard and Vermin. Keep your distance and shoot them. They must not reach Oscorp and stall them long enough for the Kamen Rider and spiders to arrive.”
In a different section of the city, citizens were going about their usual routines when, out of nowhere, the ground violently erupted in the middle of the street. Chaos ensued as people screamed in bewilderment and turned their attention towards the epicenter of the disturbance. Suddenly, a colossal Lizard emerged from the ruptured ground, unleashing a deafening roar that echoed through the area. Some individuals frantically fled from the scene, while others bravely stood their ground, capturing the astonishing spectacle on their mobile devices. The Lizard fixed its gaze upon Oscorp Tower and swiftly began charging towards it, with Vermin's ominous figure close behind.
A police chopper saw the Lizard and aimed its machine gun at him.
“Target spotted, ready to engage.”
The law enforcement officer fires their weapon at the Lizard, prompting the creature's fierce roar of annoyance. The Lizard swiftly scales the towering buildings to escape the relentless pursuit of the hovering helicopter. Despite the barrage of bullets, the agile Lizard maneuvers skillfully, determined to reach Oscorp. Suddenly, it crashes through a bridge connecting two buildings, seizing debris and hurling it at the helicopter. The pilot desperately attempts to avoid the incoming projectile, but the chopper's tail is struck, causing it to spiral out of control and crash.
The Lizard's desperate arrival at Oscorp is met with a tense standoff as the police surround him, their weapons ready, poised to take action.
“You humans wouldn’t be able to harm me. Move so I can advance humanity to their next evolution!”
