Chapter 590: Each One's Challenges and Gains - (2)
The outcome of their discussion surprised him. It was the first time he'd heard of the Deathly Hallows; in this legend, three Deathly objects mentioned in fairytales were melded together, considered as one. They held special significance—a person who possesses the three Hallows becomes the master of Death.
Felix only knew the Elder Wand was real, currently in possession of Dumbledore.
"Have you considered this could merely be a proverb-like tale? Even if they truly exist, they might just be three powerful magical items, later generations connecting them forcibly?"
But Luna provided real evidence.
“Elder Wand.” Luna drew a vertical line in his hand. “Resurrection Stone.” She added a circle below the vertical line. “Invisibility Cloak.” Finally, she drew a triangle outside the vertical line and circle, encompassing the first two symbols, creating a complete and intricate pattern.
Felix stared at his hand. Wasn’t this the symbol of someone else? Like his serpent, once synonymous with him.
“Grindelwald?” He asked softly.
“You know about him too?” Luna asked curiously. “Dad said this symbol has been misunderstood by many, but the truth is it doesn’t belong to him; Grindelwald just borrowed it. The true creators are the Peverell brothers.”
“Peverell… brothers? Three brothers?”
“Antioch, Cadmus, and Ignotus. They were the original owners of the Hallows.” Luna asserted confidently, though Felix suspected she was recounting her father’s words. “The symbol still remains on Ignotus’ tombstone, in the Godric's Hollow. Dad took me there once. It's the Peverell family crest.”
Felix lowered his head, seemingly speaking to himself.
“So, anyone who knows this symbol should also know what it represents?”
Meanwhile, a few people sitting on the couch couldn’t help but glance repeatedly at the professor and Luna. They had been talking for a while, but it was too far to hear clearly, maybe due to a spell. "The professor seems really kind," Autumn Zhang remarked. Clearly, she saw this as a responsible teacher guiding a girl filled with fantasies.
“But who’s Ferencze?” she asked.
“A centaur,” Harry replied.
“So, she didn’t just imagine it?” Autumn Zhang said with interest, looking towards Luna in the distance, contemplating. “We’re two years apart, but I’ve heard her nickname—Loony. Do you guys know?”
“She’s not loony,” Ginny retorted coldly. “Just a bit—”
“Quirky,” Ron chimed in, nodding. Ginny glared at him.
“Oh,” Autumn Zhang said apologetically. “Are you all friends?”
At that moment, Luna bounced back, her wild hair bouncing. “How was the conversation?” Ginny asked, hoping her friend could dispel any unrealistic fantasies, like resurrecting the dead... that was too far-fetched.
“The professor promised to keep an eye out if he finds one to lend me,” she said happily.
“Diggory—” Felix called out from across, and Cedric got up, walking over with his notes. Felix quickly glanced through, mentally assessing, and then told him, “It’s looking quite decent, lots of details I hadn’t considered. Shows you’ve put in a lot of effort.”
Cedric smiled shyly.
“You must have also submitted it to 'The Journal of Magical Studies'?”
Cedric nodded.
“I’ll keep these notes for now, need to go through them carefully, then we can discuss…”
Then Felix motioned for Draco to come over, who came reluctantly.
“Tell me, what’s on your mind,” Felix asked, glancing towards the Gringotts sisters sitting on the couch. “Your classmates have noticed you’ve been off lately. I’ve told you before, if there’s something troubling you, you can come to me.”
“They’re nosy,” Draco said irritably. “Especially the younger one, blaming me for ruining her ghostly food.”
Felix casually asked about the incident, essentially Astoria getting some ghostly food from somewhere. It was pretty rare stuff, hard to preserve, only available in Classroom 7, so he had given some to Valen—
He turned to look at Valen; well, he seemed to know where Astoria got the ghostly food.
The following drama was Astoria showing it off, only to have it accidentally shattered by Draco. "I was focused on the match, didn’t notice her sudden appearance," Draco defended himself.
“What’s been going on recently?”
Draco’s face flushed red. Felix was experienced with this. “I promise not to say anything,” he said, and Draco pulled out an intricately designed emblem from his pocket.
When Felix saw the 'M' on it, he had a rough idea.
“The Malfoy family crest?”
Draco nodded, “Sent in a letter from my mother.” Felix understood; he had helped forward that letter.
“So they’re putting the blame on you?” Felix chuckled. “Any gains?”
“A little,” Draco hesitated, eyeing him cautiously. “Professor, after the war, do you plan on forcibly breaking the secrecy law?”
Felix scratched his head. “So many surprises from you all today—Who told you that?” It was just gossip, he had even mocked Grindelwald with it.
“Isn’t it?” Draco sounded disappointed, seeing the professor raise an eyebrow, he quickly added, “I guessed it myself. Professor, I'm sure you’ve heard of my grandfather, Abraxas Malfoy?” He asked expectantly.
“I’ve heard of him.”
“He passed away when I was young, and I’ve been recalling his words lately. He said,” Draco swallowed, “Everyone has a place, but the difference lies in that a strong person's place isn’t just a place; it's a mission.”
“Oh?” Felix said with an unclear attitude.
“I thought, if you have this intention, I could contribute.” Draco hesitated, “You mentioned before that my wand suits healing magic, along with career counseling after school... I’ve been researching in that direction.”
Felix had one thought in mind: Lucius could retire soon.
As it turned out, Draco didn’t want to be a healer; he had ideas about the ‘Muggle-Wizard Joint Hospital,’ although his plan wasn’t well-formed, it was surprising enough for Felix.
“Your ideas… are a bit ahead of time. I can’t give you a definite answer. The future is uncertain, but you can certainly strive in that direction. At least become an outstanding healer according to your plans. There’s a lot you need to learn.”
Draco returned to the couch, and Neville, Harry, and Ron walked over, Hermione thought for a moment and followed suit.
The three boys looked at him eagerly, wanting to know his ‘tips for getting high marks.’ As for Hermione, she strongly disapproved of trying to be clever, but for the sake of understanding, she came too.
‘I’m gathering information,’ Hermione told herself.
Felix didn’t waste time; he asked them to wait a bit here and retrieved a set of potion textbooks from the bedroom.
He affectionately stroked the cover, “They helped me a lot.”
“Are these your old potion textbooks from school?” Harry guessed.
“Well, you don’t think I could afford new ones back then, do you?” Felix said. “The school’s support fund was limited, had to manage carefully. I could only afford second-hand books and old robes. But there’s a saying, ‘Think a step ahead, and things will get better.’”
“Not including the potion textbook. I carefully picked this set out. You’ll find its brilliance isn’t in its appearance.”
