Chapter 504: Illusions - (2)
Harry stared at the crowd, knowing that some might be under the Imperius Curse, yet he had no clue how to check. If Avery had managed to escape punishment by claiming he was under the effects of the Dementor's Kiss, then what now?
Suddenly, Harry's scar began to throb inexplicably.
Wide-eyed, Harry felt his mind boil like a cauldron, thoughts swirling like a relentless stirring spoon. His Occlumency only prevented him from passing out. Dizzy, his perspective shifted rapidly, landing in someone else's body, seeing through their eyes. Across from him stood his adversary—
Harry Potter, the near-death Ron Weasley, the Muggle-born Hermione Granger, and the astonishing threat, Felix Harp.
"No—" Harry yelled loudly, the words escaping from someone else's mouth.
"Harry, what's wrong?"
"Harry?"
Gasping for breath, Harry pointed in a direction. "V-Voldemort... he's here!" His consciousness returned, Sirius and Mrs. Bones hurriedly approaching, stunned by his words.
Felix squinted, gazing in the direction Harry pointed—no Voldemort, only a restrained assailant.
"He's really here!" Harry urgently exclaimed, Voldemort standing calmly, locking eyes with him, his crimson gaze intense. "Stop him from hurting anyone!"But no one else seemed to see Voldemort.
"He's right there! Voldemort!" Harry was terrified. Why wasn't anyone looking at Voldemort but instead staring at him?
"Harry, what's—"
"Is it an illusion?"
"He's there," Harry tried to explain, eyes fixed ahead, "dressed in black! Black suit, black tie, tilting his head, gesturing with his hand—he drew his wand—why aren't you—why aren't you—" The people around him stepped back cautiously, watching him.
"Put the wand down, Harry," Hermione said, trembling.
What was she talking about? Harry was perplexed. He suddenly stared at his own hand; the wand appeared there out of nowhere. It seemed beyond his control, a force resisting him.
"Use your Occlumency, Harry."
Felix's voice was grave, focusing on the oddly behaving vampire. His eyes sparkled, and his Legilimency burst forth, glimpsing in a void: a frail figure writhed in pain; another—Voldemort sneered, raising his wand.
"Felix cut off the magic."
In reality, the pale vampire lay lifeless.
"He's dead!" The stunned auror escort exclaimed.
Meanwhile, Harry felt a dizzy spell and woke up again on a sofa. He heard muffled voices.
Struggling to listen, Harry's head bumped into someone's hand.
"Harry?" Hermione whispered.
"Shh." Harry gently shook his head, opening his eyes. From the decor, this seemed like the Minister for Magic's office but not the same room.
"Dumbledore, I need an explanation about that child—" Mrs. Bones's voice came through faintly; there seemed to be something in the way, hindering his hearing.
"He has a name!" Sirius snapped irritably.
"Well—Harry claimed he saw the mysterious man and accurately described his actions. We all know it's not real, maybe an illusion, but—" Mrs. Bones's voice lowered.
Straining, Harry managed to hear a bit. Hermione discreetly handed him an Extendable Ear. Grateful, he glanced at her before plugging it in, the voices instantly clearer.
"—his movements, mimicking the actions of the man he mentioned."
Harry's heart sank.
"Are you suggesting the mysterious man is controlling Harry?" Dumbledore asked calmly.
"Not ruling out that possibility," Mrs. Bones said dryly, Sirius emitting a bark-like noise. "Could be a curse or something, we all know Voldemort excels at these. I need your opinion to make the right arrangements."
After a moment of silence—
"That scar, Voldemort's failed curse links him to Harry. When they're close, they affect each other. And Harry, he's just a fifteen-year-old, clearly at a disadvantage—"
Dumbledore said softly.
"But I assure you, Amelia, Harry is absolutely safe at the Order and at Hogwarts, both for himself and others. And it must be noted, Harry is rather talented at Occlumency, maybe Felix's tutoring has been effective—"
"Thank you for the praise, Headmaster Dumbledore," Felix's voice chimed in.
"Well, I trust your judgment." Mrs. Bones seemed convinced. "What about the child—Harry, should he be sent to St. Mungo's?"
"I think Mrs. Weasley will take care of him." Dumbledore said briefly.
Footsteps became distinct, and Harry promptly feigned sleep, his mind in disarray. Hermione seized the opportunity to remove the Extendable Ear from his ear—moments later, Dumbledore, Mrs. Bones, Sirius, and Felix entered.
She awkwardly clasped her hands behind her back.
"Let Mrs. Weasley in, she must be quite anxious..." Dumbledore said gently.
"I'll go inform Mum." Ron stood up.
"Also—about the security at the Waterfall, we need to act quickly. Mr. Harp, can I accompany you to 'Future World' to have a look?" Mrs. Bones continued discussing work.
"No problem." Felix nodded.
Harry drifted back into a deep, dreamless sleep.
...
As Felix and Mrs. Bones emerged from 'Future World,' the sky had turned pitch black. Most shops were shuttered, their doors and windows closed, except for the magical lights at the entrance, illuminating a clear row of wanted posters.
"I'll Floo back to the Ministry from the public fireplace, no worries." Mrs. Bones said.
Felix nodded, watching her vanish into the fireplace, then turned towards Grimmauld Place. He needed to study the Waterfall's defenses, untangling each difficulty one by one.
Suddenly, a small figure dashed out of the darkness—a little boy, perhaps seven or eight.
Residents around? Felix sensed no threat from him, but... he stared at the letter clutched in the boy's hand.
"A-a bald uncle asked me to give this to you," the boy timidly held out the letter, his voice wavering, "he asked me to wait here, but I want to go home... I can't seem to leave."
Felix's gaze sharpened. Using magical sight, he saw faint magic traces on the envelope. Taking the letter, he patted the boy's head. "I've got it, now go home quickly."
Once the boy disappeared, Felix opened the letter. It contained a Disapparation address and a malevolent, provocative dark magic signature.
"Wants a duel with me? I've been looking forward to it; last time, I had many spells left unused."
Speaking to the letter, Felix seemed to have gained a similar reputation to Dumbledore's, a private challenge from Voldemort. It appeared that his transformation into a Magi and escaping the Killing Curse had left an indelible impression on Voldemort.
He Apparated directly to Diagon Alley.
The cool breeze provided the perfect setting for experimenting with magic.
