...

We quickly got in the car and headed straight home, thinking about how horrible my new mother's kitchen would taste like or at least that's what I was thinking.

After arriving, we got out of the car and without hesitation I entered the house only to be received in a very special way.

"SURPRISE!" – shouted a lot of people at the same time.

Surprise? Surprise why? It's not my birthday and, honestly, after everything I've heard I don't feel like attending any parties.

"Are you happy, honey?" – my mother asked as she rested her hands against my shoulders.

I looked around and glimpsed that the attendees were all my relatives and the only friend of the previous Jacob, Ricky, who seemed to be very comfortable eating a sandwich, so comfortable that he only looked at me out of the corner of his eye and continued eating and drinking what was surely not a soft drink.

In short, it was a party for me, to make me happy after my recent loss and perhaps to be able to relieve the symptoms of what Dr. Golan defined as "Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder"

"He looks quite happy, but he can be even happier. Come on, Jacob, open the presents" – said my uncle.

He was a middle-aged man, quite plump and almost bald, his name was Bobby and he was the owner, along with my other uncle, of a supermarkets chains where I worked before this whole incident, although the previous Jacob hated so much working there that he tried to get fired, without any success.

I opened a few gifts so as not to be rude, but I won't mention what they were because it wasn't worth mentioning, the only thing worth mentioning was the car that my mother had given me, apparently she was going to buy another one and she didn't need anymore the old one, the good thing is that, despite being only 15 years old, Jacob could drive without problems, which was quite useful, really, but other than that, no gifts were worth mentioning, so when I opened them all, all the partygoers dispersed and started talking to each other.

My father was talking about his new book and how successful it was going to be, while my mother bragged to all the women there about the new car she had bought while having a conversation about how expensive it was and all the features it had.

Bored, I went to my room to think, I had to think about my next move, how I was going to get what I needed, where it was and above all, how was I going to convince the psychiatrist to take me to that island? If I ever found the name, of course.

But just before I could get in, my Uncle Bobby called me.

"Come here for a moment, Jacob, I want to tell you something" – he said.

Fuck, you're annoying! Don't you see that I don't want to talk to anyone? That's why I was heading to my room!

"Yes, of course, what do you want?" – I asked curiously.

"To begin with, I would like to ask you, How are you doing? You know..." – my uncle said.

"Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, that's what the doctor calls it" – I said without giving it a big deal.

"Oh, well, how are you from that Disorder?" – my uncle asked again.

"I'm getting better" – I said.

I didn't feel like talking to this annoying, so I wanted to end the conversation as soon as possible.

"And the police, did they say anything about all this?" – my uncle asked.

"The police? The police didn't say anything, they didn't even believe me when I told them the truth. So you better not even talk to me about them" – I said.

It is true that, after calling the ambulance, the next day, I was called by the police to be questioned, to see if I had seen anyone, but when I told them the truth, they did not believe me and instead looked at me as if I was crazy. In fact, in the end the coroner concluded that what killed my grandpa was a wild dog, which abound in the area and from time to time attack the distracted people who walk through that forest, that's why I didn't mention it, because it's not worth mentioning that, again they took me for crazy, probably that was one of the reasons because my parents decided to take me to the psychiatrist, maybe the policeman advised them when I wasn't looking, but they weren't completely convinced until I had that "Anxiety Attack"

"Oh, I see... by the way, I've been talking to your mother and we think you could need a winds of change. Would you like to come and work for my and your another uncle in the summer?" – my uncle Bobby asked.

Working in the summer? Stupid things, this summer I have more important things to do than work for my uncles!

"I'm sorry man, but Dr. Golan, my psychiatrist, has told me that I better not leave the house too much for now, you know, because of my condition" - I said.

Since they think I'm crazy, I'll take advantage of it at least.

"Oh, I see, yes, but the offer still stands, so if you're feeling well in the summer, just give me a call and I'll get you a job in no time" – said my uncle Bobby.

Then, he gave me a talk about how good it would be to work with them, all the privileges that would entail, all the money I would earn and even hinted at the possibility of becoming a boss, in short, an extremely annoying person.

"Thank you" – I said dryly.

Then, I said goodbye to him and went into my room.

"Fuck how annoying, He didn't stop talking!" – I said lying down on my bed.

If it wasn't for my decorum and politeness, I would have told him to fuck off, seriously, I don't know how this guy has a supermarket chain. If in my previous world someone had been that annoying I would have sent him for a walk.

Then, I thought for a while about my situation, but I couldn't think of anything, I also tried to get the system to tell me something, a clue that I could follow but it didn't work and I also tried to concentrate hard to see if I could at least unlock some of my memories, something that told me I should do now, but I only got one sentence from the system.

[Don't even try, if a God has sealed your memories, unless you are equal or stronger than that God, you will not be able to remove the seal, but don't worry, all is not lost, you just do the missions and you will see]

That left me thinking, maybe if I did missions, I would unlock my memories, maybe that was the way to remember everything again, but unfortunately all that now was of little use to me if I wasn't even able to do my first mission.

But just as I was about to give up and take a nap to clear my mind, someone knocked on my door.

"Can i enter?" - asked a woman's voice.

It was the voice of my aunt Susie, my father's sister and my grandfather's daughter.

"Go ahead" - I said.

I was going to go to sleep, but first I'll listen to what she wants to tell me, anyway, I doubt it's interesting, maybe she even wants to offer me another unwanted job.

Hearing that I gave her permission, my aunt Susie came through the door and sat next to me on the bed because I had already sat up.

"How are you feeling?" – my aunt asked.

"I'm better" – I said.

What do you want me to say? If I say I'm fine, She won't believe me and if I say I'm feeling bad, She'll be even more alarmed. I think this is the best possible answer.

"I'm glad... By the way, your father has told me what has happened before in the house and I have decided to give you this" – said my aunt.

Then, she gave me a small box with the logo of a tobacco brand, it was a fairly old box, but I recognized it, it was the box that my grandfather showed me when I was little and that contained photos about the peculiar children.

"Thank you, auntie" – I said.

Seeing my face of surprise and happiness, my aunt smiled and got out of bed.

"I'll leave you alone with it, I think you'll like to have some privacy to see what's inside" – my aunt said.

Then, she gave me a tender smile and left my room.

With all the speed I could muster, I opened the box and immediately I could see a lot of black and white photos, photos that seemed to be extremely old but in them you could see the image of children, some looked like teenagers while others looked like children.

I looked at the photos carefully, looking for some clue about the name of the island or something, but I only saw the photos that my grandfather showed me when I was little or at least the previous Jacob.

[Now you are also Jacob, you have both fused and although you are the dominant personality, you both form a single being, Jacob]

I know, it's just that it's strange for me to talk about someone I didn't know until just a few days ago like my family, it's quite strange...

[I know, but you must realize that you are Jacob, just keep that in mind]

Ok.

Anyway, I looked at the photos and recognized most of them, the first was Emma, without a doubt, I recognized her from the movie, the second was Olive, but more grown, she didn't seem to be the same age as in the books, but she looked like the one in the movie, but her facial features were more delicate, curious, but I can't appreciate it better by the state of the photographs.

So far so good, the surprising thing was the following images, Horace, Hugh, Enoch, Millard, all those were the same as their homonyms in the books I read, no changes, but there was a noticeable change in Bronwyn, Claire and Fiona, more than a change, they seemed completely different people, although similar to those in the movie.
