Have a good day :)

...

Her words touched my heart. Her love for these children and for their well-being is something that even I can't put into words, but I have a question: Why do the ymbrynes love their peculiars so much? How long ago was this system established? These are questions that surely many asked themselves when they watched the film or even when they read the books. This world has many more mysteries than those told in the books, mysteries that are waiting to be solved and that maybe, just maybe, one day I will strive to discover, but together with everyone and not alone, maybe that's what my grandfather did, try to discover all that this world had can offer to us; maybe.

"Thank you very much" – I said with a grateful tone.

"What have I said to you about thanking the family, Mr. Portman?" – said Miss Peregrine.

Her expression could be that of a serious and strict woman, but nothing could be further from the truth, despite her stoic expression, this woman in front of me harbored infinite affection and love.

"Sorry, I still have to get used to it" – I said.

"It's okay, everyone had a hard time to get used at first... Well and now that I said all of this to you, you can leave and have fun, I'm sure everyone is waiting for you downstairs" – said Miss Peregrine.

I could see that she cracked a small smile.

"Of course" – I nodded.

Then, after saying goodbye once more, I left Miss Peregrine alone; sitting in her chair.

At night.

Night had come and I must say that during the day everything was like being in a dream. We had fun all day and I was not only with the girls, but also with the boys, we all had a great time, we laughed, we told stories, we played, etc. It was a most fun evening.

"It seems that I don't need the internet to have fun. I guess if every day is like this or similar to this one... soon I will forget about those comforts" – I thought.

It was time for dinner and as was customary in this orphanage, we all went to prepare the table, today Horace, Millard and Bronwyn would cook, while the rest of us would prepare the table, the dishes and the cutlery.

Dinner was also delicious and after clearing the table and washing the dishes, we went to the living room to talk to each other for a while, you know, have a while more fun until bedtime.

We were all seated, including Miss Peregrine, when suddenly, someone knocked loudly on the door; as if in a hurry to enter.

"This is strange... Who can it be?" – Millard asked curiously.

"Do people usually come?" – I asked curiously.

"No, apart from you, we had not received any visitors for several decades" – Horace denied.

"I will go and open, stay here" – said Miss Peregrine.

She was sitting comfortably on the sofa, so she had to get up and go to the door at once, but when I caught a glimpse of her face, I could see confusion in it; as if she was not expecting any visitors either.

"Who do you think it will be?" – Claire asked.

By the way, I was sitting on the couch on the left with Claire on my lap, next to me were the twins who pressed many of their bodies against mine, while the other two last seats were occupied by Fiona and Bronwyn, they basically drew lots to see who would sit with me and the twins won, but before anyone could complain, Claire sat on my lap and refused to get up from it no matter how much the other girls complained.

Nobody knew what to answer, after all, we had no idea who it could be, but it didn't take long for us to find out, because at that very moment...

"Quick, step aside!" – said Miss Peregrine.

Followed by Miss Peregrine was what appeared to be a black bird. A crow perhaps? I couldn't catch a glimpse of it properly because it immediately transformed into an older woman.

"Miss Avocet!" – Horace said in amazement.

"What a tragedy, this is a tragedy!" – said Miss Avocet.

She seemed to be extremely nervous, so nervous that she even seemed to tremble.

"What happened, Avocet?" - asked Miss Peregrine in surprise.

Nobody understood what was happening, that's why nobody said anything.

"This terrible, Peregrine, extremely terrible!" – said Mis Avocet.

She was trembling as if she were a custard; as if she had seen something terrifying.

"Calm down and tell us what happened" – said Miss Peregrine trying to calm her friend and colleague.

"It's terrible! The wights found our loop and laid siege to us!" – said Miss Avocet.

Hearing her words, everyone stood static on the site.

"But how is it possible that they found your loop?" – asked Miss Peregrine.

She seemed quite calm, but I know this woman and I know that at this moment she is nervous, but in order not to alarm us, she had to keep her same expression as always.

"I don't know, it just happened! They tried to take me, but my kids gave me a chance to escape! I wanted to stay, but I was told that I had to warn the others of the situation and I had no choice but to leave! My poor children!" – said Miss Avocet.

She seemed to be about to cry and about to suffer a nervous breakdown.

"Calm down. I know you are sad about your loss, but we need to know how it is possible that they found your loop" – said Miss Peregrine.

Now she did seem quite nervous, as if she did not expect this to happen.

"I don't know, they just showed up and said they were looking for all the ymbrynes and tried to take me. Peregrine, you must be alert, I also heard them say that they have found many more loops, I don't want to alarm you, but I don't know if this can be one of them" – said Miss Avocet.

She tried to speak calmly, but soon she trembled and sobbed again.

"This situation is serious, extremely serious. Listen, you are all absolutely forbidden to leave here" – said Miss Peregrine with a serious expression.

"Can't we even go to the garden?" - asked Enoch.

"No, no one can leave here without my permission, I am afraid that the situation is much more serious than I thought, the wight may have figured out the location of our loop" - said Miss Peregrine.

Then, she turned her gaze to me.

"Jacob" – said Miss Peregrine.

"Tell me" – I said.

"Did you see anything or someone suspicious during your stay in the present? Anything, any data is useful to me at this time" – said Miss Peregrine.

"The truth is that one night I saw a man observing the beach of the present with binoculars, as if he were looking for something, there was also a mass murder of sheep, quite grotesque if you want my opinion" – I nodded.

Listening to me, everyone was stunned, staring at me.

"Why didn't you tell us that, Jacob?" – Emma asked suddenly.

"Why should I have said it? I mean, it's true that it's strange, but I didn't think it was necessary to comment on it" - I said.

"You don't understand, Jacob. Seeing in the dark is one of the abilities that the Wight have" - said Olive.

Damn, it seems that the hunch I had at the time was right, that person was not only suspicious, but also a wight probably looking for the loop. Fuck to this sealed memories! Because of that we are now in danger!

"Do not blame Jacob, He had no knowledge of the abilities of the Wight, in fact, he didn't even know what was a wight" - Bronwyn said.

"That's right, no one explained it to him..." – Fiona nodded.

"That doesn't matter! There's a fucking wight out there who may already know the location of our loop, it's a real mess!" – Enoch said angrily.

"Hush!" – said Miss Peregrine.

We were all surprised, especially me who was the first time I heard her scream.

"It's my fault, I told you not to tell him anything, I was wrong to hide it from him, I should have told him before, however, it is not worth arguing about something like this now, now what we have to do is be together and not leave the house, stay here, I'll take a look outside with Miss Avocet" – said Miss Peregrine.

Miss Avocet did not seem very calm, but she still stood up and went with Miss Peregrine to inspect the surroundings of the house, looking for something unusual.

"Damn, just when things seemed to be getting better for us, this happens..." – Millard said somewhat depressed.

"Guys, I know I'm new here, but we need to calm down, you can't panic, Miss Peregrine is right" - I said.

"It's easy for you to say that! You've only known what wights are for a few hours! We have been hearing about them for years!" – exclaimed Enoch angrily.

"Jacob is right, now what we must do is remain calm!" – Olive exclaimed.

"That's right, panicking is just what the wight want" - Bronwyn nodded.

"We must remain united..." – Fiona said.

"All together" – Claire nodded.

"Exactly" - Millard nodded (or so I think).

"And what are we doing here? Wait for them to come and feed up the hollows with us?" – Enoch said.

"Don't be silly, Miss Peregrine and Miss Avocet are here, nothing will happen to us" – Emma said with a frown.

She didn't seem very happy with Enoch's pessimistic words.

The twins meanwhile clung to me; as if they didn't want to let go of me.

"That's right, now what we have to do is stay here and wait for Miss Peregrine to inform us" – Horace nodded.

We all fell silent for a couple of minutes, but suddenly, Emma said something that surprised us all.

"I think... that we should go out and find that wight and kill him ourselves" – Emma said suddenly.

Everyone looked at her as if she were crazy.

"Have you gone crazy or did dinner make you feel bad?" – Enoch asked.

"It's not that. According to Jacob's words, the wight was outside looking through binoculars on the beach, so he may not know our exact location yet, but what if he has felt Jacob?" – Emma said.

"Can they feel the peculiars?" – I asked.

I don't remember anything at all.

"That's right, it's another one of his skills, now tell me, if that wight knows you're here and has found out that you've been in and out of the loop: Won't he come after you to find out the location of the loop?" – Emma said.

"But Jacob is not in the present, but here!" – Millard said.

"That's right, but... who do you think he will go to when he knows he is not there?" – Emma asked.

"Damn, if that's true, that bastard will go after my father, the only one who can know where I am" – I said angrily.
