Chapter 100: (1)
“They’re fleeing!”
“Where are you running? You dogs of Armis!”
As the battle intensified, the Armis Knights suddenly changed direction and began to flee inwardly. The Vyraxar Knights tried to chase them and the frightened soldiers blocked their path.
“We’re breaking through! Don’t spare those who block the way!”
“Form the Vanguard Formation!”
“Vanguard Formation!”
“To catch them… there’s no choice.”
Having established the Vanguard Formation, Kaiyan followed the knights who were slaughtering the soldiers and advancing. It was uncomfortable to see the terrified soldiers dying at the hands of the knights, but letting go of the Armis Knights would put the heavily armed infantry and Markain soldiers in danger.
“Mr. Jeff mentioned it before. He said that every time I hesitate on the battlefield, my allies would pay the price.”
With his eyes closed, Kaiyan relied on his senses and swung his sword in all directions, approaching soldiers who were fleeing in fear.
“Aaargh!”
“Grr! Spare us, please!”
Every time he swung his sword, Armis soldiers spat out blood and fell to the cold battlefield.
He wanted to focus only on the soldiers’ weapons, but the Vanguard Formation was all about swift penetration. There was no room for hesitation now.
Whoosh! Whoosh!
“A drumbeat?”
While slaughtering the soldiers and advancing, Kaiyan heard the sound of drums coming from the Armis formation. Soldiers who had looked dead suddenly wore expressions of relief and hastily retreated.
Curious about what was happening, Kaiyan looked ahead and saw a group that appeared to be elite soldiers. They blocked the path with shields and spears.
“…Is that the Iron Wall Formation? Cunning bastards! They not only fled from the knight-to-knight battle but also dragged in the soldiers.”
The Vanguard Knight who stood at the forefront of the Vanguard Formation sighed as he spoke.
“The Iron Wall Formation, huh? Sacrificing soldiers to block the knights’ charge while the Armis Knights launch their attack? These Armis knights aren’t holding back.”
The knight who had been at the forefront turned his head, seemingly looking for something, and then looked at Kaiyan.
He was one of the four knights who had been at the side of the Viscount when Kaiyan explained the plan to Vyraxar.
Kaiyan nodded to him, and the knight smiled slyly.
“We won’t retreat! Everyone, charge! Vanguard Knights, charge!”
“Maintain the Vanguard Formation! Charge!”
At the knight’s command, the other Knights charged toward the enemy, as if they were not afraid of the Iron Wall Formation.
There was a reason that the Knights appeared reckless in their charge.
“Waaaah!”
A tremendous cheer echoed from behind the Armis forces.
Startled, the Armis forces turned to look, visibly bewildered.
“They’re here!”
Before The Armis army could shout in joy, they screamed in terror.
“Kwaaaah!”
“The heavy-armored knights have betrayed us!”
“Protect Lord Armis from the enemy!”
Without a specific signal from Kaiyan, Karion Jajak launched an attack on the rear of the Armis Army at the right moment.
The rear of the Armis Army was in a vulnerable state, perhaps because they trusted the heavy-armored knights.
“Capture Viscount Armis!”
As Karion Jajak, riding a brown horse and wielding his sword, issued the command from the front, the heavy-armored knights began to break through the formation of the Armis Army in earnest.
“Kraaaah!”
“Why… we are from the same Armis’ Army! Aaargh!”
It was a one-sided slaughter by the heavy-armored knights.
Regular infantry without proper armor couldn’t even make a small resistance against the heavily armed army. Moreover…
“Arrows! Raise your shields!”
“Aaargh!”
Although their numbers were small, the Markain soldiers behind them were indiscriminately shooting arrows with heavy-armored knights in the front.
Linda had prepared plenty of bows and arrows for the soldiers, as she had anticipated this since she heard about Kaiyan’s plan before the war began.
Now, all that was left was to shoot arrows at the disintegrated formation.
“Wh-where are the knights?”
Armis’ forces, shocked by the betrayal of the heavy-armored knights, frantically searched for the knights, but they were in a situation where they couldn’t move right now.
While a massacre was taking place in the rear, the Armis Knights at the forefront collided with the incoming cavalry, receiving support from the mounted troops that followed them.
“Kwaaah! Kwaaah!”
“Kraaaah!”
“Hold on!”
The terrifying power of the mounted knights in heavy armor.
The formation that had directly faced the charge of the Knights collapsed in an instant, and the soldiers were swept away. The Armis Knights, who watched this with anxious eyes, looked at their commander.
“Commander, what should we do? Now is the chance to counterattack!”
“Commander! We can definitely hear something happening in the rear! We keep hearing screams!”
“Hmm…”
The commander of the knights let out a deep sigh in response to their questions.
Ideally, they would wait for Lord Armis’ orders from the center, but for some reason, no signals were being sent.
At times like this, the commander had to take command of the knights themselves.
However, it was a situation where he was very concerned about the events happening in the rear.
Splitting their forces and sending them in two directions was impossible, considering that nearly half of the knights had already died.
Closing his eyes for a moment in thought, the commander opened his eyes and spoke.
“While capturing the enemy knights is important, the most crucial thing is Lord Armis’ safety! We will withdraw to the rear!”
“Yes? B-but if we do that, the soldiers…”
“Do you think those soldiers are more important than Lord Armis?”
“N-no, sir!”
“Before those guys catch up, we’ll withdraw immediately!”
The Armis knights, who received the commander’s order to retreat, briefly glanced at the soldiers being massacred by the Knights before closing their eyes and turning their horses toward the rear.
Unaware that Kaiyan was watching them with eyes as red as prey.
‘This is an unexpected turn of events, but… it’s an opportunity!’
Thanks to Kaiyan’s impeccable timing, an opportunity he hadn’t anticipated was created. An opportunity to devour the remaining members of the Armis’ Knights.
“Blackie, stay in there for a moment.”
After glancing around to make sure no one was watching, Kaiyan quietly stashed Blackie into his pocket dimension and swiftly ran towards the fleeing Armis knights.
