" A forgotten past " Undertale Yellow Re-Told.

Chapter 3: Part 3 "Old ruin, new face."

Sometimes memories can play tricks on us, we can talk with confidence about things that time may have clouded. Has it ever happened to you? In this case, the one who suffers this turns out to be Flowey, who in the middle of a conversation with his partner stops suddenly, having a face of clear confusion that genuinely seems strange in him.

- Hey, Flowey .. What's wrong? Suddenly it seems that something has bothered you.

The flower takes a few moments to look in detail at the hallway in which they are, there is something that is clearly not right.

Rooms that do not sound familiar to him at all, pillars with engravings which he claims to have never seen in his long and miserable existence. How did it take him so long to realize this? Is it his longevity mixing up his memories? Or is it perhaps a trick of fate? The train of thought of the shortest is finally interrupted by the human.

- Uh? Oh ..

With his feet (Roots in this case) already on the ground, he manages to answer.

- I'm going to tell you something, Meils, and I don't want you to take this the wrong way, okay? It seems that the mental map I had of this place isn't as accurate as I expected, I mean, I'm not saying that we're "lost" but, right now I'm not THAT sure of what we might find further ahead.

The news is somewhat disappointing for the boy but, he doesn't seem at all bothered by the words. He reacts by scratching the back of his head and letting out a small sigh while taking a quick look at the surroundings.

- Good news, from what I see, right?

He says with comedy, trying to dispel any guilt that his partner might generate for himself.

- Is that so bad? I understand, you're confused, and so am I but, I'm still alive, right? It doesn't matter if this place isn't exactly as you remember it, we were able to get inside without any problem, so...

- Enough, I understand, it was just a small observation, that's all. Likewise, with what you have shown so far I am ALMOST sure that you can overcome whatever is in front of you.

The boy lets out a small laugh upon hearing said "almost" added with that typical acidic contrary humor, and he is not wrong. What is the worst that could happen? In this way they resume their walk.

The human feels lucky when he comes across what seems to be an abundant corn plantation in the middle of a large room. What kind of person would question the food in a situation like this? If it were up to the flower, he would not let the boy take a single bite for fear that he would suffer some kind of poisoning, but hunger is stronger, and it is useless to keep him without food for so long, at least the latter has something else to write down in his notebook.

"The corn underground is no different from the corn on the surface, and it's delicious too. How did someone manage to plant this without even a ray of sunlight? Who was responsible for this plantation? Whatever it was, it saved me. I have no idea how long I was unconscious after the fall, let alone how long we've been walking with Flowey..."

A smile appears on the human face now that he feels his energies restored, even when the situation is unfavorable, he doesn't feel threatened at all because he is filled with an almost miraculous feeling, hope.

The existence of light in the corridors is reduced as the minutes pass, making the path darker, even more gloomy. Does it mean that they are reaching the end of the road? They wish they had time to think, since from one moment to the next, both Meils and Flowey stop at the same time. What could lead to such a reaction on both sides?

Two eyes, a pair of orbs looming in the darkness, lurking just a few meters away, a silhouette that is extremely different from what they have seen before. Is it perhaps another kind of monster? As much as they want, they do not know how to react to this threatening presence.

- Who are you? Have I not suffered enough? Don't you think you have hurt me enough already..? Oh ghost of yesterday, leave these ruins and let me be once and for all..

It is apparently a male, his voice is soft with a slight hint of fear, as if the words coming out of his mouth were adorned with bitter memories.

- Excuse me..? Are you talking to me?

The human questions, always keeping a certain distance from his opponent, whose appearance remains unknown due to a long robe that covers a large part of his body, at first glance he notices that he is slightly taller than him, which would be threatening if it weren't for the clear fear in his words.

- Stop pretending, please... Is it so difficult to leave me alone? Do you find some twisted enjoyment in reminding me of that day? Humans have already caused more than enough damage, I have not committed any sin for you to torment me in this way.

Previously the boy would not hesitate to turn to Flowey, but he also knows that he cannot depend on him constantly, so he decides to try to move forward on this situation on his own, without taking his eyes off the stranger for even an instant, in case conflict arises.

- What are you talking about? I'm not a ghost, you have to listen to me...

The stranger then falls silent for a few moments, trying to believe the human's words. Not getting any response, it is the boy himself who decides to shorten the distance with his hands up, seeking to make it clear that not only is it NOT a cruel memory, but that it does not represent any threat either.

- If you are not a ghost, then it means... Are you a real human? My eyes do not deceive me?

That voice, it is easy to deduce that, whoever it is that hides his identity under that dark cloth, is not hostile at all, which only encourages the boy to continue his dialogue between slow walks.

- Yes! I am a human, but I assure you, I am not a threat, you have to believe me.

- And how can I believe you...? What assures me that you will not attack me once I turn my back on you? Even if you seem innocent, it would not be the first time that monsters have been hurt because of you, you are just another invader...

A bitter memory of what happened so many, many years ago. How can Meils change his mind? History, and a possible tragedy that he is unaware of for now, are playing against him, a situation in which he feels lost from the beginning, carrying the guilt of mistakes he has never made.

- Human ..

Without finishing the sentence, the one who hides his face slightly extends his right arm, and with his open hand, more specifically on the palm, begins to generate a small current of what seems to be electric magic.

Should Meils then prepare his knife? Let his instinct guide him, attack the race that has ended the lives of five children for an empty wish, this would make everything much easier, stop worrying about those who by history, he should hate from the depths of his soul. Yes, this would really be ideal for his survival, after all, that flower already mentioned it before, in this place, it is kill or be killed.

No, spilling the blood of innocents will not solve anything, taking someone's life is an unforgivable act, and if because of this "foolish" mentality he must risk everything, so be it, but even before reaching the underground, this boy has a well-defined vision of reality, someone who has been through so much, endured a thousand hardships, who could very well attack his "enemies", chooses to turn his back on that path.

- No.

He exclaims in a firm tone, with his gaze fixed on the other's eyes, approaching determinedly until he is just a few steps away from the stranger.

- No.. ? What do you mean? Stop trying to fool me.

But the human has already made a decision, and that is, that fighting is no longer a valid option, from now on, whatever happens, he will only seek to reach the other side of this crossroads called life, with peace, even if this puts his life at risk.

- I'm not going to fight you. Do you want to attack me? Fine! I have no reason to fight you.

The opponent looks hesitant, but for now he shows no signs of stopping his actions. Now he extends his hand towards the boy, who remains firm in the face of danger, without the slightest doubt in his eyes.

- You know what happened in the past, don't you? Have you been told what happened in Snowdin? Probably not, anyway...

- No, I don't know what happened in that "Snowdin", I agree with you on that, but will you let the past dictate your present? I also know things that you probably don't, I know what it feels like to have reasons to hurt someone, but it's up to us to be better than that, please...

Silence takes place amidst so much tension, on one hand, a human who just wants to leave behind conflicts from the past, with which he also has no connection, knowing full well that monsters were the most affected by that so-called war, while his opposite has had to suffer the injustices of fate at the hand of man, and on more than one occasion.

How can these two races leave behind their differences? How can peace exist when so much blood and dust has already been spilled on both sides? The shortest one resumes the dialogue.

- I know you have enough reasons to hate me, but the fact that you still listen to me, suggests that perhaps you think the same as me, maybe I'm just talking in vain, and nothing I say will change your choice. I know that I'm not the one to ask you for anything, and if you're really willing to attack, I won't stop you...

And without anything else to say, he closes his eyes waiting for his opponent.

Why? How can someone believe so blindly in something? How can someone present themselves in such a way in the face of danger, with open arms before the stranger as if embracing destiny, and yet, as stupid as it may seem, he is clearly full of determination.

When you have nothing left to lose, you are not afraid to fight for your ideals until the end, and this is what makes the stranger cease his attack with a great sigh while he takes off his hood.

- You are a very strange human... Did you know that?

Meils has tossed a coin in the air, and has won, he opens his eyes and smiles relieved, being able to see now who was hiding in the shadows of the clothing.

- You would be surprised to know that it is not the first time that I have been told this, I am indebted to you...

That monster turns out to have an appearance not far from that of a human, his skin is a light purple color, black eyes with brown irises, dark hair from which a pair of white horns protrude and some fangs visible from the top of his mouth, his now visible clothing consists of a cape and long pants that share the color of his hair, culminating in a white shirt from centuries past.

- I may have behaved in an aggressive tone with you, I hope and you understand that it is very difficult for me to deal with someone of your species, and...

- That is enough.

The boy interrupts, not out of rudeness, but because he perfectly understands the thoughts of others, understands how they feel and wants to prevent them from feeling guilty for having such normal thoughts given the circumstances.

- You don't have to apologize to me, or give me any explanation, I know we haven't been through the same thing literally, but believe me, I can understand how you feel, I know what it's like to be hurt, I know what it feels like to have a hard life that alters your way of seeing the world, but at the end of the day...

- At the end of the day, I guess we are the ones who have the last word, isn't that right?

Obviously, they weren't the words the boy had in mind, but the feeling, it's something they've shared, is something unmistakable.

- I suppose then, human, that you're not the only "stranger" here...

The tallest one shows a face that transmits tranquility, it is not necessary to question him to know that he is someone serene, afflicted by the cruelty that the world can offer, someone with whom our protagonist manages to sympathize instantly, and who, totally ignoring the tense moment they have been through, decides to extend his hand in a friendly manner, a gesture that does not distinguish between races or languages, a universal symbol.

- We are an interesting human and a monster, don't you think? My name is Meils, it is a pleasure to meet you.

How could anyone refuse after such a show of courage? He could have killed him right there, but the destiny was already clear for the boy from the beginning, and that monster that acted in an intimidating manner now does not fear accepting such a show of kindness that goes beyond a war.

- Mine is Dalv, and the pleasure is all mine .. !
