A Different Smallville

Chapter 6: Chapter 6

The next morning, Leonardo was back in the backseat of Clark's body tucked away as Clark was enjoying breakfast with his parents. Looking out of Clark's eyes, he saw on the front page of the newspaper, that Harry was caught in an attempt to murder and currently locked up in jail. Thus ending this run of mystery.

"Clark, you did a good thing last night." Jonathan lightly praised.

"Huh," Clark replied.

Seeing the paper, Clark was slightly confused since he didn't understand what his father was talking about. Then it sort of clicked after he thought about it for a moment and looked at the photo in the paper. The one of Harry in handcuffs for attempted murder.

'Leonardo, care to explain.' Clark roared, while he smiled.

'No, not really. I just happened to see Harry attempting to kill someone and stopped him. No one saw us and I rigged it so it looked like the man got a lucky elbow in.' Leonardo answered. 'However, Jonathan saw me returning and since I don't want a face of Kryptonite as he thinks I am some sort of ghost possessing you. Just take the credit.'

--

A few hours later, Clark returned to the Smallville Retirement Center and found Cassandra. Despite many telling him that he shouldn't put too much trust in her words. He felt like he needed to come to visit her again.

"Are you going to come in or not, Mr. Kent?" Cassandra asked.

"Sorry, what you told me, I couldn't get it out of my head." Clark walked forward.

Cassandra gave a soft smile. "Imagine how I feel. When it first started happening, I, uh...I thought it was a curse. I kept getting snapshots of things I couldn't control."

Clark nodded knowing the feeling since it sounded similar when he discovered a new ability. Then he began to think and before he knew it. The words that popped into his mind just spilled out before he could catch them.

"When did it begin to happen?"

"I always had them I think, but I woke up one morning, like any other. Then the meteors came. One hit a field behind my house. The flash burnt my optic nerves." Cassandra said. "Since then, the visions happen more and more."

'The meteor rocks must have boosted her Precognition abilities.' Leonardo theorized.

Clark seemed to take a moment to process that, before he began to speak to Cassandra. "My friends and family, they think that you're…"

"A fraud, huh? People are afraid of the unknown, Clark. They only want to know if everything's gonna turn out all right. I can't guarantee that. What I can show you are sign posts on your journey. What you do with them is up to you." Cassandra lightly laughed.

'What does she mean?' Clark was slightly confused.

'It means she gets a snapshot of possible futures. It's like when you're driving and get told there is construction ahead, do you go through it or detour around.' Leonardo answered.

"I've got so many questions in my life. I just want some answers." Clark said while not knowing if it was for Cassandra or Leonardo.

"Come close and take my hand." Cassandra asked with a small smile.

While Leonardo didn't want to take another vision trip, Clark already grabbed her hand. In which he found himself floating in space as the dead planet before him was swallowed up in the sun. Behind him, three figures of women could be seen, but before he could see their faces. Leonardo was back in the room with Clark panting clearly scared out of his wits.

"You saw that too, Clark!" Cassandra sounded surprised.

--

"Leo, is it true?" Clark asked as his voice trembled. "Will I really outlive everyone I know and love?"

In the Barn Loft which is nicknamed the Fortress of Solitude, Clark was staring up at the sky. His feelings bleeding out of control as the vision he received haunting him. Not that Leonardo blamed him as it was haunting him too. Afterall, it is scary to be in a graveyard full of tombstones that holds one family name and friends.

'Clark, that is an unfair question to ask. As your life progresses Clark, your friends and those that you love will shift and change. Who you considered a close friend now might not be in a few years after High School. Those that you might love now will morph to include others such as your future wife or wives, children and so on.' Leonardo answered. 'It is why you need to learn that time is valuable and shouldn't take someone's life for granted, as it will end sometime.'

"I know, but it's scary to think about." Clark clenches his fist. "Aren't you afraid, Leo."

'Yes, but in time we will just have to accept that it is the way it is. The more you stress out about living longer than those around you, the more you will miss.' Leonardo offered a small bit of advice.

While Leo could feel Clark worrying lessen a bit, it didn't vanish. However, he chose not to care about it for the time being. In time, this fact will be accepted and he hopes by the time he and Clark learns this, it isn't too late.

--

At the bottom of the stairs, Jonathan paused as he looked up at the loft where he heard Clark holding a conversation. Only, he could hear his son's voice and after taking a few steps up. He could see that Clark wasn't holding his cellphone.

'Who is Clark speaking to and who is Leo?' Jonathan wondered to himself.

Deciding to bring it up with Martha later since she might have a clue. Jonathan continued up the steps.

"Hey Son, it's time for bed. It is getting pretty late."

"I will be right in." Clark said as he began grabbing a few books.

The books in question were various topics from acne and various treatments throughout time. While he truthfully didn't care that much about it, Leonardo was. Hence, he has been studying it off and on for about a day now.

--

Since the search for Harry had come to an end, a few days have passed by in a blink. During which, not much has happened besides Clark visiting Cassandra for the third time. Then feeling down as when he went to visit Cassandra again for a fourth time for a reading. Only she passed away not long before he arrived.

"Hey, in a month's time, my book will be published." Leo said excitedly as the moonlight came in through the window.

While it had only been a few days, he was surprised that his book had already been reviewed and being prepped to be published. Since he felt they would have sent it back or rejected it, which wasn't uncommon. Which made him wonder if someone was helping it along this process.

'Lex shouldn't know since I used an alias.' Leonardo rubbed his chin.

Leonardo truthfully felt like spacking Clark upside the head for his friendship with Lex. In what world would a twenty year old want to be best friends with a fourteen year old. Not to mention, Lex who is heir to the Luther business and busy handling whatever business matters he has.

Which as far Leonardo knows, doesn't include watching or studying a fourteen year old. Not to mention that Lex has shown obsession disorder as well narcissistic tendency. Which begins to show as he keeps trying to insert himself into Clark's life with gifts, advice, or solving the family financial issues.

'Unless, he is keeping tabs on the Kent Farm internet and phone usage.' Leonardo rubbed his forehead. 'However, I don't think his obsessiveness has reached that level quite yet.'

Unsure about his theory, Leonardo put it off for the time being. He didn't have the resources or time to investigate it. Not to mention, it wasn't a big deal for the time being since it just passed que of being reviewed.
