A Different Smallville

Chapter 4: Chapter 4

A silence fell upon the room for a moment after Pete had asked this question. However, it didn't last long as Cassandra seemed slightly amused as she smiled. For she patted her closed book.

"What is your name?"

"Pete Ross."

"Mr. Ross, if you want your fortune told, go to the circus." Cassandra said, making Clark smile before seemingly accidentally dropping her books.

Leonardo took control of Clark's arm and pushed Pete forward to help her slightly amused. For if she really can see a glimpse of the future. He isn't sure since if he remembers correctly, she can see a version of the changing future.

Pete clearly took the bump as a signal and walked over to help her pick up the book. However, when their hands touched, a brighter smile formed on the old woman's lips.

"It's a long walk home, Mr. Ross. Check your pockets." She said, making Pete look panic.

'Well there goes our ride.' Leonardo sighed.

'It's quicker to run.' Clark didn't really care.

'Clark, how you don't get discovered is a mystery sometimes. Once or twice is fine, but you're forming a bad habit with your abilities.' Leonardo sighed.

'I have no idea what you're talking about.' Clark questioned.

'Clark, if you want to blend in and hide your abilities, you have to cover the small things that can give you away. When you run away in the middle of a conversation, you tend to just vanish leaving who you're talking to confused and suspicious. The excuses you happen to be in the middle of nowhere without a truck or vehicle where you are saving someone? They are so sloppy that a three year old would find it hard to believe much less the police or a smart man like Lex. Shall I continue?' Leonardo answered.

Leonardo took a breath before continuing after a moment. 'Now, I'm not saying this to scold or put you down. However, you need to be made aware because your sloppy excuses can't bail us out forever.'

'Then how should I act!' Clark roared. 'What with you lately, it's one lecture after another with you.'

'If you run in the middle of a conversation, then appear to be running out the door and when you're out of sight, then go at super speed. This way they won't be as suspicious. As for appearing where you shouldn't be, hiking or exercising doesn't cover it since most of the time you're not dressed right. So, either a disguise is needed or you need to learn to get in to save the day and leave without being seen.' Leonardo replied softly.

Leonardo didn't want to do this, but with this world technology and Clark's carelessness. If he keeps going at the pace he is going, it won't be long before the government knocks on the door. Which not only puts himself in harm's way, but those around him. Which is something Leonardo wants to avoid the best he can.

'Clark, do you know how criminals get caught?' Leonardo calmly asked. 'It's the small details they tend to overlook. A fingerprint here, soil from the shoes there, lame or nonexistent alibis, however, a big one is their overconfidence. It might be a small detail that might not lead to anything now, but in time it will add up. If you're not careful, all the wrong people will begin asking all the right questions.'

Leonardo could feel Clark's anger. 'I know it's hard, but Clark. It is suspicious if you vanish without a trace in someone's house and no one sees you enter or leave. Not to mention when you happen to show up in the middle of nowhere without a vehicle.'

Clark just clenches his teeth in annoyance, but it is reasonable worries. On one hand his rebellious teenage side wanted to argue, saying not to worry. However, his more mature side told him Leonardo was right.

"Well, are you going to stand there all day, young man." Cassandra asked, breaking the two conversations.

"Sorry about that, madam. I was distracted thinking about how I will get home later." Leonardo took over for a moment. "Now, what shall we read today?"

Cassandra blinked once as she patted the chair next to her. "Let's see, why don't you introduce yourself first."

"Ah, where are my manners? My name is Clark Kent." Leonardo ignored Clark's bid for control as the teen needed to calm down.

--

After a bit, Cassandra began to cough, which calmed down slightly as she asked for water. Reaching over, Leonardo picked up the glass of water for her and handed it over. However, the moment their hands touched, Leonardo and Clark found themselves in a trance.

While Clark had found a series of flashes before him. Leonardo found a completely different scene before him. For he found himself standing on barren wasteland as the sun seemed infinitely closer to the planet. Leonardo had to almost squint his eyes, but before him he could see the back of two men where capes seemed to blow in the wind. However, due to the sun basically blinding him, he couldn't make out their faces or clothes color very well. Only that both stood in front of what he guessed was a grave and two striking S symbols were on their chest.

Then, Leonardo found himself back in the nursing home where Cassandra seemed to recover a bit. A confused look crossed her face as she looked in his direction, but it didn't seem to be at him.

"What just happened?" Clark took over and freaked out on the inside.

"Someone close to you will die very soon." Cassandra said.

Leonardo felt Clark's heart sank, not that he could blame him. Hearing such a sentence will be hard to hear for somelike Clark who deeply values all his relationships.

--

After leaving the retirement home, Leonardo watched Clark go into full worry mode as Johnathan was cutting a board. Which made him want to roll his eyes and decided to leave it for the Kent pair to help Clark through this issue. Since he sighed thinking about the own vision he saw.

'So I will get my own body and Clark and I will be here to see the end of Earth.' Leonardo sighed thinking to himself.

It may have taken a small while for him to make sense of the vision, but he believes he got there in the end. Clark and him will be the last ones to see Planet Earth as it is swallowed or they have the potential to be there. Which made him feel tired and a bit speechless.

Spying on how Clark is the sudden safety police, Leonardo feels he should keep this to himself for the time being. He is clearly busy doing his own thing for the moment and dropping this fact on him. Well, he felt Clark would handle it worse than him.

--

'How does a teenage girl lose an old man in a wheelchair in a retirement home?' Clark wondered as he sat down with Lana and Chloe in Smallville Beanery.

He had received a call from Chloe that Lana was depressed. So he agreed to meet up with them at the Beanery and chat over coffee. Which was more to see his crush, then to actually comfort her about losing an old man.

'Hey, Clark. If we use our super brain to study and make a cream that helps with acne. Do you think the girl in the corner will be a beauty?' Leonardo asked, turning his head.

'That is Abigail Fine. She is the team mascot and I don't know, maybe.' Clark attempted to turn his head, but Leonardo wouldn't let him.

'She looks alone and looks like she could use a friend. Also, she hits my soft spot for blondes.' Leonardo wanted to walk over, but Clark wouldn't allow it.

'We are helping Lana and Chloe.' Clark sternly said.

'Just go check out the scene. Unlike the police, we have a bit of an advantage of discovering clues they might have missed. So, let's go chat with this future beauty.' Leonardo cheered as they began to fight for control of the body.
