A Different Smallville

Chapter 32: Chapter 32

It took Clark about another day or so to wake up, which lucky him, it was a weekend when all this went down. During which Leonardo when not pretending to be him and keeping an eye on the girl who he learned was named Sarah. He was writing out another book that was along the lines of a horror genre with a killer of the night.

The book wasn't anything fancy nor really based on any series he read in his previous life. Unlike the sappy Twilight he wrote before that seemed to become a small hit. If he had to actually pick what inspired him for this, then probably the various terrible or cheesy horror movies in his last life. Which fit the painting he drew last night in his depressed state.

Overall, it was a very depressing story and if this becomes a hit or classic, Leonardo will begin to worry about the world. For even he seemed to re-entered his depressed state of wonders and self doubt reading a small portion of what he wrote.

'I don't think I ever saw you depressed, sad, happy, energetic, playful and a bit lustful but never depressed.' Clark said.

'It happens to all of us, Clark.' Leonardo moped in the loft. 'It's hard you know, especially as the feeling of a new adventure, new world wears off. Not to mention the joys and hardships of having abilities, especially ones such as ours.'

While he wasn't feeling as down as last night, Leonardo was still almost sloth like and unmotivated. He didn't even care Lana came over to chat with him thinking he was Clark. In which she tried to get together with him, or end this game they apparently had going on last year. Not that agreed one way or another, since Clark longs for her, but refused to tell her his secret she so desperately wanted to know. All while having Leonardo in his head, who greatly disliked her.

'I think it would be better if we didn't have them. I could be normal, you would still be in your old life. Instead, I dragged you into a world and burden you with a secret.' Clark said sadly.

'It wouldn't be easier Clark. You would have to bury Lana and Chloe long ago with the amount of trouble they get up too.' Leonardo joked half heartedly. 'Everyone has secrets Clark, and it's just ours is just a bit bigger than most. However the world only gives the burden it thinks you can handle and to us, it's a whole lot.'

'Is that so, then why are we cracking under it?' Clark grumbled.

'Because, we lack the support that inspires us to be better than we either feel or think we are capable of.' Leonardo answered. 'Jor-El wants to push us because he sees so much potential, Jonathan and Martha provide a home and caring environment. Chloe and Lana only see the sturdy and strong front we provide that give them and others a sense of security and safety. While Pete, well Pete is doing what Pete does for whatever he does.'

'Everyone around us, while they love and care for you as either family or friends. You are their pillar in some way or another that inspires them to be better. Well, maybe not Lana, but maybe she is just a toxic teenage girl.' Leonardo said. 'It's why I dislike Lana so much, she isn't a pillar for you, but more like a twig that will snap under the pressure. Once the full weight of being with you hits her, she will either leave you and run away or do something drastic.'

'So, I am destined to be alone? I have dreamed of Lana since I was eight.' Clark sighed.

'No, there are many strong women in the world, maybe not physically, but mentally and emotionally. Lana just isn't one of them.' Leonardo refuted. 'You just need to open your eyes to others around you and try to get to know more than your small friend circle.'

'What about yourself?' Clark asked.

'In the same boat.' Leonardo sighed. 'It's lonely being alone after all.'

'Speaking of boats, do you want to build one?' Clark asked offhandedly. 'Just go sailing during the summer vacation or something. Possibly sell it once we are done with it."

Feeling he was needed, Leonardo jumped off the couch. While he didn't really care much about sailing the seas, it sounded like a fun project. Not to mention results will appear faster than the cask of grape wine in the storm cellar.

A few days later, Chloe appeared at the farm. "Hello, Mr. and Mrs. Kent. Is Clark around? He hasn't really spent much time in the Torch lately. Is something going on as he hasn't really talked much about the farm lately."

Jonathan was sipping on water taking a break from his work. "He is out in the barn working on building a boat."

"A boat?" Chloe said, completely confused.

"It really was out of the blue, but he seemed happier than he had been in the last while. So, we just let it be." Martha shrugged.

Chloe nodded trying to understand a bit. "Isn't building boats expensive and requires a bunch of knowledge?"

"He isn't building a yacht, Chloe." Jonathan joked. "Besides, he earned a bit during his internship and if he wants to splurge on this. Well so be it and worse comes to worse, we just sell for scrap metal and recover a bit of the losses."

"Ignore him Chloe. What can we help you with?" Martha asked.

"Lana wants Clark to help move things at the Talon. Apparently she decided to transform that old storage room into a small apartment and needs help moving things around." Chloe explained. "She says she was a bit swamped at the Talon and just asked me to pass along the message."

"I will tell him, so he should drop by later." Martha said.

"Thanks, now I want to check out this land boat." Chloe said.

Inside the barn, Clark was looking over the frame of the boat while looking at the blueprints. The boat wasn't very complex, but it wasn't very simple either. Hence he and Leonardo were taking their time building it and measuring it and measuring to triple check their dimensions.

"Wow, you got all this done in a few days?" Chloe said, appearing at the barn doors.

"It's been more than a few, but it's not that impressive. It's just the very basic frames." Clark awkwardly stated. "So, what can I do for you Chloe."

"I heard you were building a boat. Kind of strange since there is only mostly land and very few lakes that allow boating." Chloe bounced on her heels. "So what brought this on."

"I was in a mood and thought doing something random would help fix it." Leonardo replied.

"So even the invincible Clark Kent can have down days." Chloe joked.

"I am only human after all." Leonardo gave a half smile.

"Yes, you are. So what is the plan after you build it?" Chloe diverted her eyes from his face.

"Maybe sail it once or twice then probably sell it. The boat is a whim after all." Clark shrugged.

"Kind of a lot of work just to do that." Chloe pointed out.

"So are the shirt, your pants, your underwear if you wear any, yet it is sold." Leonardo also pointed out.

"Point taken, plus for your information, I do wear underwear." Chloe said but unsure why.

"I don't think I needed to know that." Clark mumbled.

'Same. It was a joke.' Leonardo agreed with Clark.

"Is there something you wanted to ask, Chloe? Other than the boat." Clark changed topics.

"Not really, just to deliver Lana's message asking you to help her move some boxes around for her at the Talon." Chloe stated.

Leonardo wanted to reject, but also hated being the nice guy he is. Even in his last world he hated the fact he hardly said no. So even if he dislikes the other person, he would agree to help them to some degree. Hence, it didn't surprise him Clark agreed almost instantly as he felt a surge of joy Clark felt for when he felt Lana needed him.

"Tell her I will be there in a few hours. I got a few things to finish up here first." Clark said.
