A Different Smallville

Chapter 16: Chapter 16

Inside the Fortress of Solitude, the Barn Loft edition. Clark was bouncing a ball as he chatted with Leonardo inside his head. For he messed up with a joke gone wrong making his friendship with Chloe tossed up in the air.

'I really messed up didn't I?' Clark said for the over dozenth time.

'Please, if I didn't sign you and Chloe up, your joke would have been the truth.' Leonardo answered. 'Besides, you should stop crying to yourself and just fix the situation. Of course, unless you are fine losing your friendship that is clearly fixable.'

'I guess you are right.' Clark sighed.

'Great, it finally got through to you after a dozen tries.' Leonardo lightly cheered.

A bit later inside the Fortress of Solitude, the Barn Loft edition. Clark was bouncing a ball as he chatted with Leonardo inside his head once again. For he attempted to fix his friendship with Chloe and ended in disaster .

'I really messed up didn't I?' Clark said once more.

'How are we supposed to know Chloe would be swept up in teenage hormones? It's not our fault she rather believes her five hour boyfriend over your friendship of over two years.' Leonardo stated.

Clark's attempt to fix the situation didn't end well was an understatement. Not only did he stumble in on Chloe in a heavy make out session with someone. They even hurled insults at him while holding up a set up entry ticket to the event Chloe had him sign up for. Which hurt Clark more than even himself wanted to admit.

'I guess, ask Pete if he is interested in going since it seems wasteful if we don't use the tickets.' Leonardo suggested.

'I doubt it.' Clark replied. 'He didn't seem all that interested before.'

'Then use this to make a new friend who is interested in journalism.' Leonardo gave a second suggestion.

'I'm not that interested in Journalism either.' Clark said.

'Really? You seem quite interested in it in my opinion. It seems you have a lot of fun tracking down stories and writing about them in your school newspaper.' Leonardo offered his opinion. 'It also would give you a nice cover in the future, if you decided to become a hero. Not many would ask why you show up at accidents or investigate. Since you are a reporter.'

'Why would I want to be a hero?' Clark asked. 'Wouldn't that just out myself with my abilities?'

'That is what dual identities are for. Well, anyways, it's just a thought for the future you might want to consider. You know for the whole saving people thing you got going on.' Leonardo said.

'I don't know.' Clark shook his head. 'I am more curious about Chloe's latest crush Justin. I just have this hunch that there is something off about him.'

'Well, we can just stake him out later tonight and see if he does anything strange. Wasn't Chloe sending off a message about half a license plate or something.' Leonardo said. 'In the meantime, why don't you put your beginner reporting skills to the test and dig up what you can?'

'Fine.' Clark got up.

--

Later that night while keeping a safe mile or so distance from Justin. Leonardo was following him to see what he was up to so late at night. Clark managed to dig up Justin doctor who had many malpractice lawsuits against him and also just lost his hands. While also managed to uncover a few rumors about Justin while he was recovering, many which weren't good ones.

'Why is he at Principal Kwan's home?' Clark asked.

'Clearly to sit down and have some tea?' Leonardo sarcastically retorted. 'Judging by how he is shouting. It might be revenge or to vent his anger thinking Principal Kwan slighted him somehow. Remember, a few patients said that Justin was short tempered and tended to seek revenge in some form even if it was petty reasons.'

Then before their eyes, one of the ground lamps around a concert pathway leading up to Kwan's door, was levitated and pinned the Principal to the garage door. Then while Justin appeared to be speaking, the station wagon started up next to him. While the wheels began to spin.

Upon seeing this, Leonardo began to move quickly, which he ran up behind Justin and tapped his head, while moving Kwan out of the way. Right before the station wagon plowed into the garage. Rapidly thinking how to solve this mess, or at least help Kwan since telling the cops that a teenager with telekinesis wanted to kill him, probably won't work well. Leonardo moved the unconscious Justin into the vehicle, while a slightly confused Kwan to another position before leaving.

'Chloe is so going to be mad about this.' Clark groaned.

'Well, her and Lana do tend to attract weirdos.' Leonardo lightly shrugged. 'You included Clark. Though, most males are weirdos, and finding a woman to accept our weirdness. It just makes the one that does all the more special to us.'

'Leonardo, for someone who has been single all his life. You sure have a lot of nonsense to say.' Clark grumbled.

'Speaking nonsense is a gift.' Leonardo laughed.

--

The next day as the news of Justin attempting to kill Principal Kwan spread faster than a speeding bullet. Clark was basically on the mark for Chloe's reaction. She wasn't just mad, but furious if broken keys on the keyboard were to go by.

"Are you ok, Chloe." Clark attempted to ask nicely.

"I'm just dandy." Chloe glared at him.

'I'm going to take that as a no.' Leonardo lightly jokes.

"Are you still interested in the student journalism conference? I still have your ticket." Clark tried to quell her anger.

"Did you get them from Lex?" Chloe asked.

"No," Clark shook his head. "I was just joking about forgetting to sign up. However, you stormed off before I could tell you. Then you hurled insults at me with Justin when I tried to clear it up later."

An embarrassed blush overcame Chloe as she turned her head away, unable to look at him. Clearly the embarrassment and her overreaction catching up to her. So it wasn't long before she changed the subject.

"So, I heard rumors that the facts about the Principal Kwan incident are a bit suspicious. Shall we check it out?" Chloe asked.

This time it was Clark's turn to be a bit embarrassed, since he knew why things were a bit suspicious. After all, it was Leonardo who tried to arrange the scene in a less suspicious way upon recusing Principal Kwan.

'Just agree and roll with it. I doubt she could dig up and Chloe from what I saw isn't exactly great at putting facts into her articles.' Leonardo suggested.

"Ok," Clark agreed.

"Great." Chloe grinned ear to ear.

--

Later that night while Clark was still giddy about successfully asking Chloe to go to the spring formal with him in a few weeks. Leonardo was rubbing his head as the drowsiness was returning again already.

Within the month Leonardo figured he will be back in his hibernation sleep again, for Clark's puberty was beginning to ramp up his absorption of the yellow sun. Not to mention discovering new abilities while his strength was beginning to soar.
