Chapter 110: Those Who Contain Shiro’s Past and Future
In the world of Shin, many different variants of slime people have coexisted with others for centuries. Though sticky to the touch and capable of holding things, including people, inside of themselves, slimes are relatively harmless. In fact, being held inside a slime had slowly turned into a sign of affection over the years, as putting one’s body into yourself proved that you trusted them with your life, given that you could be hurt from the inside without any means to fight back.
Of course, there were variants that did not allow for this, like corrosive slimes who were typically green in color. Due to their bodies' highly acidic properties, pills and the like were often made so that the slimes could hold others who were not slimes themselves without injuring or killing them. Sometimes these green slimes would choose to have the acid removed entirely, leaving them as a regular slime like every other in the world. There were advantages to their previous bodies, such as food digesting at an incredible rate leaving them far less hungry, but many were not willing to keep such a benefit only to lose their ability to love others.
However, among the countless variants of slimes, hardly any were outlawed from their existence alone, with one exception. Death slimes. Slimes made of red and black ooze, far more dangerous to the touch than the green slimes. A deadly poison of black would infect the body upon being touched, leading to nothing but death shortly after. If one were to accidentally touch a corrosive slime, they would likely lose what touched the slime, but nothing more than that. For one to touch a death slime, they would be forfeiting their life, as no matter what, the poison would spread. Regardless of what touched the slime, regardless of amputations or the treatment, a death slime’s touch could kill someone within minutes.
It was a cruel reality for them, but then again, they were odd beings. They spoke with multiple voices, spoke in riddles that did not make sense, and often convinced others to touch their vicious bodies. As such, the wheels of time did not change as this variant of slime was kept away from all areas of society. Nearly extinct, the death slime would surely soon fade away, only being able to reproduce after absorbing its prey.
With hardly any death slimes left, a singular death slime was given a chance. Kept away from the others they had worked alongside, a man clad in black had found the entity and brought it with him, ready to fight when called upon.
The battle of the Onigashima District was their moment to strike.

Standing face to face with a foe that could kill them slowly, Tari and Sena looked up at the death slime in uniform that towered over them. The pink-haired succubus gazed upon its clothing, honing in on the title etched into its shirt of RANK 3. Gripping her sai tightly, Tari had known that this would not be an easy fight in the slightest. Not only were they against someone on the higher end of Nero’s army, but a death slime at that. Though they were fast and excelled at stealth, should they be hit once, that was it. Neither could save each other or they’d both go down together. Whilst Tari worried about these thoughts, Sena placed a finger under her chin with her mouth slightly open, trying to observe the death slime’s form.
Sena: [I didn’t think death slimes wore clothing. Do they need to protect their bodies from the sun?]
Hissing back at her, Skal, the death slime replied with its multiple voices.
Skal: [Foolish girl. Must a snake shed its skin to become a real snake?]
Being thrown a question she did not understand, Sena kept her finger under her chin and tilted her head.
Sena: [I’m not sure. I’ve never really asked the snakes in the grass back home. Do they need to?]
Tari: [Don’t worry about this freak’s riddles, Sena. Let’s focus on dealing with him for the time being.]
Tapping on her sister’s shoulder with the back of her hand, Tari corrected the elder succubi’s thoughts and returned her to a neutral state.
Tari: [Hey, jackass. I wanna know, how many third rank guys are there and where are you positioned between them?]
Skal: [Need I answer a question as pointless as counting the fins upon each fish.]
Slapping her forehead with her hand, Tari closed her eyes and shook her head.
Tari: [Oh boy, it’s gonna be one of those fights, huh? I really didn’t need this today. Even if we’re fighting that bastard, I was hoping for something a whole lot bet–Gah!]
While Tari continued to speak, Sena had suddenly lifted one of her pistols at top speeds and shot at the death slime’s head, causing Tari to jump. Looking over to her sister while being both furious and surprised, the pink-haired succubus shouted at her.
Tari: [What the hell, Sena?!]
Sena: [I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to scare you.]
Tari: [We weren’t exactly trying to talk to the guy but you could at least give me a warning before you decide to shoot it!]
Sena: [But it was going to attack us first! See?]
Pointing behind herself, Sena showed Tari the small cracks made within the ground. Looking inside, Tari could see small blobs of black and red that had ceased their movement following Sena’s attack. Widening her eyes, Tari nodded to her sister and praised her for the close call.
Tari: [... Fair enough. Good job, Sena.]
Sena: [Yay!]
Slowly, the slime reformed its face, hissing back at the girls again.
Skal: [It seems that the two of you are intelligent enough to–]
Tari: [Yeah, no time for that, dumbass! You’re going down, here and now!]
Launching themselves off the ground, Tari carefully sliced through the slime’s neck and glided past it while Sena stayed back from afar, shooting down at it with her pistols. The two quickly regrouped behind the slime, watching as its body morphed and stretched out from within the uniform to reach them. Jumping from their position, Sena kept the heat of her bullets up while Tari looked for opportunities to close in, dodging the deadly attacks from the slime as best as she could. Choosing the safest option, Tari followed Sena who was headed for the nearby trees. Perched by the top branches, they remained ready to move as they spoke.
Tari: [What a persistent prick.]
Sena: [I’m confused, Tari. If we hit the slime, won’t it just regenerate its body?]
Tari: [It ain’t that simple. Slimes don’t really regenerate, they reform. The mass inside their bodies lower after being hit, leading to the spot they were injured at to heal but at a cost. Meaning if we hit the thing enough times, it’ll go down and cease to exist.]
Sena: [I see! I suppose that makes sense! Oh! It’s dodging time!]
Tari: [Yeah! It sure is!]
After Skal had located them, a wave of its slime was sent towards the tree they stood on. The pair of succubi jumped into the air, soaring through and landing back on the ground near the slime. In a situation like this, their abilities held no ground. They could not touch this slime nor would they have a reason to activate them. Even if they had shown this slime its past or future, what would that change? Thus, all they relied on now was the pressure they kept up as they worked in their duo method.
Spinning through the air like a tornado, Tari rapidly cut through the death slime. As it tried to counter her attack, Sena shot at the morphing blobs on Skal’s back, preventing it from doing so. More were thrown towards Sena, which Tari rushed over and cut before moving both her and Sena out of the way to avoid touching the blobs that fell to the ground. It was only then that they witnessed the slime stretch out and pick those pieces back up. Clicking her tongue, Tari gave an annoyed look to her foe.
Tari: [Tch! Of course this asshole can do that! Sena! We need to keep our attacks coming! Otherwise, even if it can’t regenerate, it might as well be able to with how often it’ll reform.]
Sena: [Right!]
The two dashed towards Skal again, tearing into the slime like substance and shooting the residue that flew in the air. Dodging the slime’s every move, Tari circled around it and slashed at its sides. Once Skal had picked up on her strategy, Tari chose to mix up where she would strike, hitting the slime from the air above and randomly choosing sides to attack from. Sena’s guns were hardly normal, especially thanks to the upgrades Kōkatsu the Almighty had made, so firing her guns was never an issue. No matter how many times she fired, she would never run out of bullets to use. After all, they weren’t real bullets to begin with, but matōki bullets morphed into a similar shape and feel as real bullets. While she kept Skal from attacking her sister, Sena continuously dodged the attacks the slime had sent her way. On occasion, the purple-haired succubus would be able to shoot the death slime herself, which allowed Tari to swap her job from the main attacker to the clean up job as she sliced through the bits that flew off.
Crossing her arms, Tari struck at the slime in an X shape and flipped through the air, avoiding any pieces that flew at her. Once Skal went in to attack the agile succubus, Sena shot it twice in the head from behind. Redirecting its attack over to Sena, the death slime attempted to corrode her body, but was halted as both the attack and one of its legs were cut by Tari.
Hissing loudly at the two, the death slime instantly reformed itself and created a new attack entirely.
Skal: [The time for these games are over!]
Releasing several arrow shaped blobs from itself, Skal rapidly extended and approached the two, striking the spots they had stood and dodged into.
Tari: [Damn! Sena! Book it!]
Sena: [Right!]
Agreeing upon their next tactic, the two sprinted away from the death slime in opposite directions. As they ran, the arrows still approached, causing them to jump around to avoid getting hit. Rushing into the trees, they tried to hide their presence from branch to branch, but were still followed by the arrows. However, one thing was certain, there was a limit to how much Skal could see. Even if the slime could attack what was visible to it, its attacks became more frantic and less calculated as the two gained distance and hid away from Skal. Jumping to a nearby set of rocks, on both sides, Tari and Sena hid behind them by their lonesome. The arrows still did not let up and crashed into the rocks close to them.
Tari: [Shit!]
This forced the two to start running, only to see the rocks by the end break as more arrows struck them. Crouched down in the middlemost rocks, holding onto it tightly as they hesitantly watched through the cracks, the two experienced a terrible fear like no other as each and every rock around them was slowly being destroyed. There were hardly any left, leaving it only to the inevitable passage of time for their demise to approach. Grinding her teeth together, Tari’s eyes winced with each rock destruction.
Tari: [We just need a little bit more time! Once Sena fires her gun, victory is ours! But until then, we need to bear with it! We’re running out of options and I’m not sure how much longer we’re going to last, but as long as we can get enough time, we’ll be alright!]
On the opposite side of the arena, Sena tightly clutched her head as she crouched behind a rock, quietly shrieking with every other rock destroyed. Slowly, her eyes started to open.
As her beautiful purple eyes could be seen again, her scared look changed into a smile.
Sena: [Oh! It’s time!]
Placing a finger over the trigger of one of her pistols, Sena looked over the rock and aimed it at Skal.
△▼△▼△▼△△▼△▼△▼△△▼△▼△▼△△▼△▼△▼△△▼△▼△▼△△▼△▼
Not too long ago, Sena and I lived on a nice farm.
Being a few years younger than my sister, one of the first few faces I had seen when I was born alongside my parents’ was hers. Even if I still can’t remember much from back then, I still remember the wide, open mouth smile she gave me when we first met. Maybe it’s because I’ve seen it so often now that it’s been engraved into my memory, but I think that was the first time I had really kept the image of it.
Like I said, I had no idea what happened for the first two years or so of my life. It’s a little bit hazy for the few years after, but I remember bits and pieces of it. One thing I do know, both from my own memories of that time and Sena’s retellings of them, was how she’d often speak to me about random topics. She would either learn something in school or learn something from Dad, and repeat them back to me. I could barely understand words or even speak them for that matter, so how the hell was I supposed to understand what she was saying. Still, she always had that same happy look on her face when she did so. She took a lot of joy in telling me about her day or what she learned.
Once I was around five years old, that’s when I really started to keep my day to day experiences in my head. I remember trying to cause all kinds of trouble. Stealing from a cookie jar, knocking over stuff, painting on the walls.
Each and every time, Sena scolded me, but not in the way an older sister normally should.
When I stole from the cookie jar…
Sena: [Tari! You shouldn’t do that! Mama and Papa would be very upset if you took more than four before dinner! Here, you can have some from mine! I’ll tell them I ate too many without thinking!]
When I knocked over stuff…
Sena: [Tari! You shouldn’t break things! If you need something to break, I can give you some of my old toys! Don’t worry about the vase, I’ll tell them I tripped and bumped into it!]
When I painted over the walls…
Sena: [Ah! Tari! Stop! If you need something to paint on, use a sheet of paper on a table! You can even use me! But don’t paint on the walls! Mama and Papa will get mad if you do! Don’t worry, I’ll clean it up!]
No matter what I did, she always found a new way for me to continue what I was doing. That’s the type of person Sena is. She’s clumsy, but cares a lot about her family.
… Saying I love my sister would probably be something obvious, but I really do love my sister. I wouldn’t sacrifice her for anything in the world. I’d rather give up my own life so she could live hers.
Our parents were really kind to us. It’s odd to say, but the one we preferred was different from the ones we had spent time with.
I loved Mom a whole lot. I loved Dad too, but I tried to spend as much time as I could with Mom. Whenever she’d need to go shopping, or she’d tend to our farm, Sena would usually step up to help. In order to show how much more I cared, out of jealousy, I usually stepped in as well, trying to one up Sena. If Mom asked for assistance somewhere, I ran to her as soon as I saw Sena walking over to help. Sena never really seemed to mind it. Hell, I’m not even sure if she ever noticed. Part of that might just be how caring she really is. She didn’t view my jealousy as anything malicious, it was just her sister loving our mother just as much as she did.
Usually, I ended up spending time with Dad. He was a lot of fun to be with. I’d hang out in our garage, handing him tools to fix our cars and tractors with. Sena enjoyed spending time with Dad the most, despite how much more time she spent with Mom. He’s the reason she learned so many interesting facts about the world as well as the reason she studied so much. If it weren’t for him, I don’t think Sena would be as insanely smart as she is. I liked hearing some of his fun facts too, but I didn’t always care about the topic. Sometimes he’d tell me stories about him and Mom when they were young, which I enjoyed listening to. I learned about Mom’s last name, Milliana, and how she came from a family of royalty that also lived similar to the common person. They hardly accepted their royal status despite being close affiliates with the Bloodfire and Tensetsu families. Dad’s stories were really nice. Even if I tried my hardest to become Mom’s favorite child, I definitely think that Dad helped shape me into the person I am today.
Together, all four of us lived a nice, peaceful life. There were occasional arguments, but that’s common in a family. For the most part, we were always happy and laughing with each other.
That was until… he appeared.
In the middle of humans attacking our village, before anyone could talk it out, his scummy face appeared.
That bastard dressed in black. Thinking about him makes me sick to my stomach. I can feel blood in my throat every time I see his face. It makes me want to scream. It makes me want to run at him and try to stab the prick to death.
Dad tried to protect us, but was swatted and killed like a fly. That was only the beginning of my hatred. Our entire village was burning. All of it fell to the ground in front of us. With Mom standing between him with his soldiers and Sena with me, she begged for us to be spared. For some reason, the look in his eyes changed. Why the fuck would a scumbag like him care about what Mom said? He had no reason to. Before Mom went, we saw her face one last time. She held both of us, kissed our foreheads, and from her messy, teary eyed face and disheveled long green hair, she spoke to us one last time with a smile on her face.
Gomona: [You two deserve to live more than I do.]
That was the last thing we ever heard from our mother, before our faces were decorated with her blood. Despite what Mom wished for us, I almost made that bastard change his agreement. Sena had to hold me back as I tried to rush him, screaming a thousand curses at him as he walked away. I had grabbed some old sai from Mom’s closet, which were starting to make my palms bleed as I clenched onto them tightly. For the sake of our safety, Sena had done something similar, and grabbed two flintlock pistols from Dad’s closet, keeping them hidden away in her fur boots.
As part of the agreement, we were forcefully taken onto his ship. If we did our best, we’d get to survive just like Mom wanted.
Every night that I slept on that ship, I looked at my cloak. It was covered in patches of all sorts of colors. Something Mom had rushed to make me for a birthday. She didn’t view it as a good piece in the slightest, but I was forever happy that Mom would do something like that for me.
From that day forward, we regrettably worked under Nero Virtuoso. It was only as the war started that we met her. A goddess in white, who didn’t try to harm us in the slightest, even going out of her way to get hurt for our sake.
… Maybe Mom would view me as cruel, but after hearing what Lady Shiro had to say to us there, the line between Mom and Lady Shiro was hardly there. If anything, it felt like Mom returned to us, in the form of a different succubus entirely.
After our battle with Lady Shiro and the retreat she provided us with, Sena and I kept watch of her. We wanted to make sure she was safe at all times, no matter what. We learned more about her, the plan she and Miss Devi had in mind, what her family looked like. We didn’t see very many of her children, but we saw one of the three once when she was training. They looked like a small Lady Shiro, with white hair, crimson eyes and a dark gray turtleneck to match. It made both Sena and I smile.
I won’t lie and say one of my reasons for joining wasn’t to kill that Nero bastard. I have every intention of doing so, or at least, being a part of the reason he dies. He deserves to have a taste of his own medicine. But at the same time, I think with every day that Sena and I spent watching over Lady Shiro, it felt like we were back home again. Like we were in a bubble, kept away from Mom and Dad, but we could still see them having fun. Even if we weren’t there, they were still happy, and that made us happy as well.
My reasons for joining are comparable to a ball of yarn. It’s hard to untie the whole thing and find out why every reason exists. But there’s a single reason that exists, outside of this ball of yarn. Just one single reason.
Sena and I will always serve Lady Shiro, because to us, she’s the perfect second mother we could ask for. Sena even came up with a great nickname, though she’s avoided using it around Lady Shiro at my request since I don’t want any awkward reactions.
Moms. When we’re by ourselves, Lady Shiro is Moms.
△▼△▼△▼△△▼△▼△▼△△▼△▼△▼△△▼△▼△▼△△▼△▼△▼△△▼△▼
The loud bang of a gun filled the sound in the air. To Skal, this was the sound attached to the sudden shot to the head it had felt. No pain existed from this wound, but merely the benefit of now having one of the two succubi’s locations. On the other side however, Tari raised her head. Clutching her sai tightly, she hopped over the rock and kicked the ground below her. Flapping her wings as quickly as she could, she charged at Skal, who was distracted by Sena’s attack.
Turning back to look at Tari after feeling a presence, Skal could not help but watch as the girl flipped in front of him, followed by several lacerations all across the slimes body. Falling to the floor in pieces, hissing as it did so, Skal abandoned its uniform and took on a less human-like form, reducing itself to a puddle of slime that extended outwards to hit the two. Multiple faces of different beasts and beings were made within in order to allow the slime to speak.
Skal: [Without hiding, you’re a bird without wings!]
As soon as Tari’s left foot touched the ground, she looked back up with a confident smile.
Kicking off the ground again, she soared through the air and avoided the oncoming attacks with her wings, slicing through them as they approached. Using her pistols, Sena reentered the battle and shot at Skal’s extended weapons, while also providing Tari with bullets to place her feet on top of before jumping around again. In perfect synchronization, the sisters struck at the pile of sludge without touching a single piece of it with their bodies.
In Tari’s mind, she continued to think of her elder sister.
Tari: [When it comes to abilities, I might be as screwed as they come. I can’t use mine for a situation like this, and even if my advanced ability mattered, I’d need to use the regular version enough in order to break the condition.]
Noticing an arrow approaching her, Tari held her sai to the side, effortlessly slicing through it down the middle. As she descended down and drew close to the pool of the death slime, Sena shot her gun towards where Tari was approaching. Flipping herself straight, Tari landed on the bullet and jumped into the air, kicking the matōki bullet back into the sludge and damaging it again.
Tari: [But that doesn’t mean Sena is in the same boat. Because even if she can’t use her ability, that just works to our benefit! As long as she doesn’t use it for enough time, her advancement can be used!]
Several arrows now closed in on Tari, which she responded to with a flurry of slashes that ripped the attacks apart. The remaining bits were quickly shot by her sister nearby. Changing positions, Tari dropped low on the ground while Sena flew high.
Tari: [Oni can use clairvoyance with matōki alone. Meaning if we try to replicate that simple power, if Sena makes an advancement that uses a similar technique to view the next twenty seconds, then the condition is easy as shit to break through!]
Knives and swords made of the death slime attempted to cut Tari down. Clashing with them, Tari struck each with all of her might, tearing them to shreds. Sena shot down at the remaining bits that fell back down. Using each bullet like a staircase, Tari hopped from bullet to bullet and ascended into the air to join her sister, both now at the same height as each other. Looking towards their eyes of pink-ish red and purple, the two smiled and nodded.
Tari: [Even if I’m strong on my own, I need Sena by my side to win. That’s because in reality…]
Sena: [Future Tellings!]
The purple succubi’s eyes illuminated with a white outline, displaying a look similar to the hands on a clock moving.
Tari: [... Sena is the real strong one!]
Rapidly, Sena shot down at different directions of the slime. To match her, Tari spun down and severed multiple areas. Jumping as the bullets reached the end of her shoes, Tari continued to cut through the slime heavily, shrinking it more and more. The matōki bullets caused several holes to appear in Skal’s pool, which were treated with more holes before a reformation could occur. An immense wall of slime was formed in order to make a tactical defense, separating the sisters. However, Skal was a foolish slime indeed, as it did not understand why Sena and Tari’s attacks were now incredibly precise. Taking her sai by the front, Tari dragged them down the center of the wall, ripping it to thirds as she descended. On the sides of it, countless holes were shot into the wall, giving a similar appearance to sliced cheese. Pushing herself off the wall with her sai, Tari cut the slime again and watched as two bullets made their way towards her. Without cutting them, Tari redirected the bullets back into a head that had been formed on the slime, destroying it instantly.
Readjusting her cloak, Tari turned her back to her foe and placed a single sai back in its spot. Sena landed right next to her, putting the safety back on a pistol and placing it into her left boot. The tiny pool of slime behind them attempted to rush them one more time, creating the form of a demon beast’s head to crush them in its poisonous maw. Without looking, Tari sliced the neck of the head, and Sena shot it to finish the job. Both put their remaining weapons away and stood side by side, ignoring their eviscerated foe.
While Tari dusted herself off, Sena looked at her younger sister and smiled.
Sena: [Mother would be proud of us! We did very well together!]
Exhaling a small laugh, Tari smiled back at her.
Tari: [Yeah. She sure would. You did a good job there, Sena. We won that thanks to you.]
Sena: [Not at all! I only did my best to support you! You’re much stronger than I am, Tari!]
Scratching the back of her pinkish-red hair, Tari shook her head in response.
Tari: [Jeez, are we seriously gonna fight over our praises now?]
As the two enjoyed their happy moment, a sudden rise in presence was felt, leading to the sisters smiling together as they looked into the distance.
Tari: [Speaking of mothers…]
Sena: [Yeah…]
Shaking her fists in place, Sena gave a cute look of enthusiastic courage towards the end of the rocky field.
Sena: [She’s here!]
With the death slime now decimated, the deadly succubi sisters took pride in their accomplishment
The battle by the forest of the Onigashima District was now over. The victor: Tari and Sena Erozena.
△▼△▼△▼△△▼△▼△▼△△▼△▼△▼△△▼△▼△▼△△▼△▼△▼△△▼△▼
Behind several others fighting, an oni with hair and eyes of red and a kitsune with long orange hair and nine tails of the same colored fur spoke with each other.
Kōkatsu: [Looks like another one of Shiro’s crew is finished with their fight. Guess all that leaves is Ryuka to get a turn in.]
Xander: [I haven’t exactly known that girl for long, but judging by the way she fights, I get the feeling she’ll try to one up everyone here.]
Kōkatsu: [Hah! Yeah. She’s quite the interestin’ one.]
Removing his hands from his pockets, Xander pulled out a phone and was ready to look at the screen to check something.
Xander: [Well, for the time being, I’ll do another checkup on how–...]
An incredible gust of wind moved past the two, leading Xander to pause what he was doing.
Kōkatsu: [Hm? Ya all good, Xander?]
Placing a hand on his cheek, Xander smiled calmly.
Xander: [Just now, I felt someone pressing their lips on my cheek before running past us.]
Moving her kiseru to her lips, Kōkatsu released the smoke she inhaled and gave a smug grin back.
Kōkatsu: [Hmhm. I had a feelin’ she was here.]
The two looked towards the front, watching as a large beam of white made its way through the battlefield. Moving and moving, the beam did not stop for anyone nor could any others keep up with it. Hidari, Migi, Bachi, Tari and Sena, all of them looked up towards the beam and smiled.
While the beam kept moving, a towering man clad in muscle, holding chains in each hand, attempted to intercept the beam. Due to how well he had kept up, the beam slowed down by just a bit, revealing eyes of crimson that glared back up at him. Before the chains could reach the center of the beam, a flash of black moved by, hitting the chains with the sheath of their katana. What now appeared was a goddess of white floating in the air, followed by an oni with spiky jet black hair protecting the divine one.
Clutching her katana near the top, the oni looked towards this foe while also speaking to the demonic goddess behind her.
Shiro: [Ryuka.]
Ryuka: [Yes, Lady Shiro?]
Shiro: [... I’ll leave this to you.]
Ryuka: [... Yes, Lady Shiro.]
Shiro had dashed away from the two, focusing her attention on where Helig Gammal was positioned. Now, Ryuka Ryoma and this chained warrior were alone. On his outfit, the title of RANK 4 could be seen. This was a man Ryuka had recognised, as she had seen him many times before.
Ryuka: [Totem Deliciano.]
Pulling his chains forward with a grinding sound, the man scoffed at Ryuka’s call.
Totem: [I’m quite shocked that you know of me, given your previous lower class, Ryuka Ryoma.]
Ryuka: [How couldn’t I? The one among the fourth rank who is closest to reaching the highest. Dreadful Executioner, Totem Deliciano.]
Totem: [So? Do you intend to fight me? I’ve made it clear once, but I’ll do so again. You should know that a first rank like yourself fighting someone on an upper level like myself is practically suicide.]
Moving her hand through her hair, Ryuka looked back up to Toten coldly.
Ryuka: [Is that all you’re concerned about?]
Curling an eyebrow, the towering figure stared back at her.
Totem: [Hm?]
Closing her eyes, Ryuka spoke to the fourth rank soldier.
Ryuka: [If all you’re worried about is ranks and the little importance they hold, you’ll go down a whole lot faster than anyone in the first rank.]
Opening her dark gray eyes again, a powerful fire as cold as a blizzard radiated through her pupils.
Ryuka: [Come at me.]
Through the first ranks to seconds and all the way to the thirds, the battle at the Onigashima District provided all kinds of opponents for many to face.
After many within Shiro’s crew had finished their battles against the third rank soldiers they were pitted up against, a brand new terrifying opponent appeared.
The sharp Ryuka Ryoma was now engaged in battle with a Rank 4 soldier.
