A Demon Lord's Tale: Dungeons, Monster Girls, and Heartwarming Bliss

Setsu really enjoyed playing with toys.

When she spotted a ball, she wagged her tail furiously, and when it was thrown, she chased after it at full speed.

But come to think of it, could that be a form of training to chase prey? Well, judging by the way she acts, it would seem like she had a talent for hunting.

She might be a little clumsy, but being born into the [Fenrir] race meant that she would have a certain level of fighting power.

“Every time I see that kid chasing after a ball, I think to myself, [Oh, you and your father are just like each other.]” (Yuki)

“…Kuu.” (Rir)

“Haha, I see. Rir’s wife must have thought the same thing as me. As expected, your wife really does watch you closely.” (Yuki)

Setsu had inherited both of her parent’s characteristics, but she was definitely more like Rir.

The only difference between them would be that Rir was the one who got annoyed, while Setsu was the one who was annoying.

Well, I guess girls were cuter when they were a bit feisty and full of energy.

As I continued to walk around with Rir, playing with Sakuya, I noticed a familiar presence approaching.

“Hey, you guys are all here.” (Yuki)

The four monsters appeared slowly.

The giant snake Orochi, the giant raven Yata, the white cat Byaku, and the water spirit Seimi.

It wasn’t the first time Sakuya had met them, so it was good that everyone was now relaxed when meeting each other, but they sure were quick to gather when they heard about us visiting today.

When I said that a while ago, Byaku implied with a serious expression, “It’s impossible not to show our face when the Lord’s family is visiting”.

However, immediately after that, Seimi implied, “We just want to take care of you all”. There was also an exchange where Orochi and Yata, who couldn’t lie, looked away from me, but it seemed that these guys were sincere in welcoming my children.

“Look, Sakuya. This is my pet army. Say hello to everyone.” (Yuki)

“Daa, aah.” (Sakuya)

Sakuya seemed to be in a good mood as he looked at the pet army, even though he probably didn’t understand what I was saying.

In situations like this, my pets usually reacted in a certain way: Orochi and Yata rushed around in a frenzy, Byaku meowed a normal greeting, and Seimi floated happily around me.

The two males were worried that they would hurt the small, fragile creatures if they approached clumsily, as they considered themselves to be clumsy.

I thought they would have gotten used to children by now after being dragged around by Illuna and the others so much, but it would seem that babies were a different matter.

“Augh, augh!”

Sakuya, perhaps intrigued by the movement, reached out to Seimi, who was floating nearby.

Seimi sensibly stretched part of her water body towards Sakuya, and my son touched it with glee – and the next moment,

Seimi’s body glowed faintly.

As I was frozen in place, Sakuya pulled his hand away from Seimi… and the light disappeared.

I looked at Seimi’s outstretched arm, and my son.

Sakuya, who seemed full of energy just moments ago, blinked his eyes a few times as if he were about to fall asleep, and a few seconds later he was really fast asleep.

“What was that?” (Yuki)

I turned to look at Seimi, but she was just drifting around the place looking puzzled.

Wasn’t there supposed to be some kind of physical change after something like that happened?

“What is this…?” (Yuki)

As I watched Sakuya sleep, I realized something.

I didn’t know what this child had done just now, but it seemed certain that he acted with a clear intention.

The reason was because a new title… had been added to Sakuya’s status…

It was [King of Monsters].

King of Monsters: One who communicates with and rules over monsters. Despite their different species and languages, they adore their King, follow his orders, and overcome hardships together.
