Chapter 29: Chapter 29: Attack 5
An intense fight was taking place, a man with pink hair against two opponents, one with blond and red hair and the other with white hair.
"Drug! Damn demons, they attacked the Demon Slayer Corps!" Sanemi shouted, his anger almost boiling over, as he charged towards Akaza.
With the swing of his sword a fierce gale was created, and following Sanemi's attack, Kyojuro Rengoku also attacked, violent flames seemed to accompany his sword.
Akaza blocked and countered attacks with his fists, the image of a snowflake beneath his feet.
It was the Compass Needle, a power capable of detecting the fighting spirit of enemies, giving it the ability to react to various attacks easily.
Akaza's left arm was cut in half by Sanemi and his right arm by Rengoku, then both quickly regenerated, and Akaza slashed at his enemies, sending them flying.
The wide smile on Akaza's face revealed his joy in fighting, similar to Kokushibo, he had a great desire for the martial path, but in a more competitive way.
Even when he was still a human, his strength was formidable, once killing sixty seven opponents alone, leaving him in such shape that he was mistaken for a demon even by Muzan himself.
Punching, Akaza pushed Rengoku away with a shockwave, before turning towards Sanemi, attacking with his sword.
Although Akaza wanted to prolong the fight so that he could enjoy it more, he still remembered Lucian's orders to end the fight quickly.
Then he attacked with the intention of breaking Sanemi's sword.
Since the time Akaza was human, he already had a technique to break swords, applying force to the correct location on the side.
Due to his strength being superior to Sanemi's strength, along with the fact that his actions were unexpected, he was successful in his attempt.
Crack! Sanemi's sword broke into two parts.
"Drug!" Sanemi swore, watching the fist approaching his chest.
The demons' bodies became stronger and more resilient as they grew stronger, and stronger demon slayers became capable of breaking this defense, but the demon slayers' defenses did not increase.
Therefore, receiving any attack could be fatal, and Sanemi would discover his own mortality at that moment.
His expression froze, he lowered his head a little more, observing the arm that penetrated his chest.
'... In the end I couldn't do it. I couldn't avenge my family and I couldn't protect my brother.'
He was melancholic, remembering his mother going crazy after being turned into a demon and thinking about his brother who hates him.
"Your strength really is remarkable, I would even offer for you to become a demon, but the king ordered you both to be killed" Akaza said, sighing in regret at how quickly this had to end.
"You..." Sanemi wanted to say something, but he was choking on his own blood, until he saw something that cheered him up, a sword cutting Akaza's neck.
Rengoku, taking advantage of Akaza's distraction, approached him from behind to decapitate him.
"That!" They both cheered when they saw Nichirin's sword cutting through the kizuki's neck in front of them.
But their happiness was soon destroyed, when Akaza easily regenerated, not dying from decapitation.
"That doesn't work anymore!" Akaza smiled, then an arm came out from his back, penetrating Rengoku's belly.
"Since the new king gave his blood to us, the demons have overcome the sun, so nichirin no longer has any effect on us."
Hearing these words, Rengoku and Sanemi's faces darkened, despair appearing on them, but they could not say anything as their bodies gradually grew cold.
Being certain of his opponents' deaths, Akaza absorbed their bodies.
In a more peripheral place of the Demon Slayer Corps, another fight was taking place.
A beautiful woman, with silver and lime green hair, accompanied by an ugly man, with a marked face and a waist that is so thin that it looks like it will break.
On the other side, a man with a bandaged mouth, heterochromatic eyes and a snake on his shoulders.
These three individuals were Daki, Gyutaro, and Obanai Iguro.
Daki and Gyutaro seemed to be in good condition, unlike Obanai, who looked a little pale and panting.
Gyutaro had sneak attacked him with one of his poisoned blood blades, and as Obanai didn't have as high a poison resistance as Tengen, it didn't take long for him to start feeling the effects.
"How about you give up and spend your last moments relaxing?" Suggested Daki, her cruel smile showing that her words weren't exactly real.
She had said this with the aim of mocking, and nothing more.
"Heh, as if that were to happen, I will die, but I will take at least one of you with me" Obanai said, before moving towards the duo.
His movements were sinuous, like those of a serpent, his serpentine sword twisted, looking like a living snake.
And with more ease than he expected, he was able to reach Daki's neck, cutting it open.
Among the remaining kizuki, Daki was the weakest and even though she had received several doses of blood, this had not changed.
However, she was still one of the hardest to kill.
"Onii-chan, he cut off my head!" Daki exclaimed to Gyutaro with her teary eyes, as she complained and asked him to solve it.
Gyutaro upon hearing these words was a little happy, even though his little sister became Lucian's wife, she still acted as usual.
This brought him relief. She was still his little sister and he was still the onii-chan.
Gyutaro raised his scythes to attack Obanai, his blood blades in a dense barrage.
After receiving Lucian's blood, his powers have greatly improved, and he is now able to throw dozens of blades at once.
"How is this possible?!?" asked Obanai, after snaking out of the blood slides, shocked that Daki had regenerated.
"It's impossible for you to defeat us, especially when you're so weak." Daki sneered, as the cut on her throat closed completely.
Then she manipulated her obi sash towards Obanai, intending to cut him into little pieces.
Gyutaro soon followed, blocking the paths that Obanai could use to escape.
Even though his body made complex and flexible movements, taking every opportunity that appeared, he soon became tired.
The frequency at which he was hit slowly increased, the poison becoming more and more present in his veins, and his breathing became heavier and heavier.
His movements became slow, his eyes were heavy and his hands were weakening, almost letting go of his sword.
Feeling that his death was near, he decided to ask something that had been tormenting him for a long time: "Could you tell me what happened to Mitsuri?"
"Mitsuri? Don't worry, she's doing very well serving the king" Daki replied, letting out a little laugh as he finished his words.
She had understood the reason for Obanai's concern, which is why she chose her words that way.
"…" Obanai felt as if something had broken inside him, he didn't even know how to react to those words.
Was Mitsuri forced? What could she be suffering from?
Unpleasant thoughts also appeared in his mind… was she voluntary?
"She is really enjoying her stay at the Infinity Castle." Daki added, looking at Obanai's stunned face.
Before he could react in anger, Gyutaro killed him with one of his scythes.
