[sister… how is she?] asked Danicia to her sister member who belongs in the order of hospitaller
[Well, the good news is that she will be fine... But] replied the sister hospitaller
[But?] replied Danicia puzzled
[sigh, it's her genetic test results… It's… well I think it better you look at it yourself.] replied the sister
With curiosity peaking with a tint of worry, Danicia reached out to the monitor in front of her and read Layla's test result.
[This! Are you sure! This… if this is true... And word of this gets out!] yelled Danicia with no self-control!
[It is! I ran the test many times to be sure… I thought at first it was a mistake or maybe even a mutation but this… terra must be notified at once!] replied the sister
[No! They must not know yet! It's too dangerous! A single mishap could spell the doom of us all! Besides, she is not ready yet! She's not ready to face the horrors that lie in wait for her at Terra, should she go there now! Quickly destroy these test results and never speak of this again!] ordered Danicia with all seriousness
[destroy them? And a gag order? Mam... these orders of your border line on heresy] replied the sister
[I know! But this is the only way to keep her safe! Look, I'm doing this to secure the future… I can only hope you understand that! Look, I will take full responsibility for anything that happens!] replied Danicia
[That is a bold claim their sister… a dangerous one at that… one that cannot be covered up even with mountains of blood! You know that right!] replied the sister
[I know… I am asking you to risk everything for my plea… But sister isn't that what we do on the daily? Have I yet to earn you full trust even in all these years on board the sister ship of the Unbroken Vow!] replied Danicia
[Umm… fine you convince me for now… but with the slightest slip I will not hesitate to send a report! Also, I need to mind you that… you will need to convince the mechanicus nut on board as well...] replied the sister
[you told them!] replied Danicia
[of course not! But those Adeptus marvels know everything that happens on board this ship! Even the test labs! You best hurry sister you know just as well as I do how over the top, they can become with something that excites them!] replied the sister
Feeling a headache coming on, Danicia quickly gets up and leaves to find the mechanicus in charge before the situation grows out of hand. And in the meantime, Layla awakens from her slumber to a white room filled to the brim with skulls and unwashed blood stains.
{where I'm I?} question Layla to no one in particular, while shaking her head.
But while she looked to her left, she saw dozens of bloody beds and sleeping sisters, as they rested with bandages over missing limbs and torn scars. But not one to stare, she turned her head to the right to see the unfortunate and the deceased! For those at her right were no longer of the living, to be transported back to terra or their home worlds for a proper burial… of course if the mechanicus on board deemed it efficient.
Confused why the dead were up here with the living that were receiving treatment. Layla simply scoffed it off, as it was probably just some Warhammer 40k thing and just let it be. With that done, she began to double-check her body to see if everything was where it should be! Thankfully, it was so, and that they were even nice enough not to leave her on the bed naked or in some weird get up like she expected, but just normal clothing… well normal by 40k standards so… still kind of weird but nothing to bad.
Which is more than she can say for some of the unlucky women that were by her left, which she could have sworn she saw marks left behind by a Reductor… shivering at the thought Layla thanked the heavens she did not require their assistance! But she did think the woman that had to be treated by the synthskin applicators looked… not so bad…
{geez… no wonder all the women in 40k are either bald or have white hair! Stress full combat coupled with stress full healing methods…} thought Layla to herself as she looked closer at the sleeping wounds around her
{Well, that's enough sitting here looking at other people's injuries time to… shit... Well fight for the emperor I guess... Whoopee…} thought Layla to herself as she reached for the exit skull.
[Beep… scanning…. Error…] door makes extra locking noises
{huh? Why does it sound like the door locked itself even more… if that even possible… maybe I should try again} thought Layla
[Burr…access denied!]
{Great… so I guess I'm stuck here for…} thought Layla before suddenly being interrupted from her thoughts when the door abruptly slid open!
[Good! You awake quickly follow me to a Valkyrie! We need to continue your training immediately! We have no time to waste!] pronounced Danicia assertively.
Knowing it better not to question the Canoness, Layla only asked
{understood, but before we set off, can you please tell me how Mary is doing… I feel bad that I kind of left her there with the Hospitaller on her own.}
[worry not… she is doing fine along with that other recruit… they simply had a mild headache and fell unconscious!] replied Danicia
{really?} question Layla
[Hey, don't give me that look! They're fine! They made full recoveries! Well, those that we can see… after all, once you mind get invaded by a demon… well let's just say you're lucky to be sane and even more lucky to be alive!] replied Danicia
{that is not very encouraging…} replied Layla
[True… but in these dire times… I think it is… Look, if it'll make you feel better, there'll be waiting once, we get planet side.] replied Danicia
{Planet side? You mean we're not on the planet!} replied Layla
[Ha! Of course, not recruit! You're on board the sister ship of the Unbroken Vow, the Lion's Daughter! ] replied Danicia with much enthusiasm
{the Lion's Daughter… huh… I don't think I read about that ship before… but then again who can remember every ship mentioned throughout all six hundred books of Warhammer! The lore is too big! Damit!} thought Layla to herself as she arrived at the Valkyrie
But as they left the ship, the "mechanicus nut on board" looked through his monitor with squinty eyes and sent a secret report to an unknown location far out into space!
