Chapter 965: Chapter 963: Wrecking Your Own Health… Is It Worth It?

“It’s that Wen family! When their family had that incident, wasn’t the eldest daughter missing? Then Mu Chengxi found her and brought her back to Beijing, and now his fiancée is that Miss Wen from the Wen family. Today, I was there to ask for her help… but I was driven out!”

When Mrs. Ou spoke of Wen Xin, she clenched her teeth with hatred. She’d never been humiliated like this in her life; it was the first time she suffered such a disgrace, and it was infuriating!

After hearing Mrs. Ou’s words, Mr. Ou’s teacup involuntarily dropped to the floor.

Mrs. Ou, hearing the sound, looked up at Mr. Ou, puzzled, not understanding why he was so agitated.

“What… what’s wrong with you? Did you hear something you can’t accept? Why are you so worked up?” Mrs. Ou felt that something was off with Mr. Ou, but she had not realized what was wrong.

“You’re saying Mu Chengxi’s fiancée is Miss Wen from the Wen family? Do you realize that Wen Xin is from the Wen family of Independent State? You didn’t do anything excessive today, did you?”

Mr. Ou didn’t know how to describe his feelings. He was somewhat hopeful that Wen Xin could help them plead with the Wen family, and yet he feared that Mrs. Ou might have said something to offend Wen Xin.

When Mrs. Ou heard about Wen Xin’s identity from Mr. Ou, she was shocked. She suddenly recalled Wen Xin’s demeanor at the time; it didn’t seem fitting for someone of the Wen family. Wen Xin appeared to be very averse to the Wen family.

“Are you sure you haven’t got it wrong? You know, Wen Xin was resistant when she heard that Ou Shen Zhi was working for Independent State… If she were part of the Wen family… her reaction shouldn’t be like this!”

Mr. Ou frowned slightly after hearing Mrs. Ou’s words, then shook his head, indicating that he too did not know the reason.

“I’m not too sure either. I only heard about Wen Boqian’s identity by chance, but before I could confirm it, something happened to Boqian…”

Mr. Ou glanced at the teacup on the floor, his heart tightened unconsciously, and he sighed with a tinge of resentment.

“Don’t disturb Wen Xin anymore. I will seek Mu Chengxi’s help myself. We are willing to trade our shares to help the Mu family, which might persuade Mu Chengxi to compromise, and then Shen Zhi might be safer.”

The traditionally obedient Mrs. Ou, after hearing Mr. Ou’s words, did not argue but simply acknowledged with a faint reply, seemingly agreeing to Mr. Ou’s request.

When Wen Xin appeared at the Ou estate, Housekeeper Ou was quite surprised; he never expected Wen Xin to visit at such a time.

“Miss Wen… why have you come over?”

Observing Housekeeper Ou’s somewhat flustered demeanor, Wen Xin’s eyebrows arched slightly, and she looked at him with a smile that was not quite a smile.

“Housekeeper, what a thing to say, as if I shouldn’t appear at all. Your nervousness… are you worried that I’ll discover something unsightly?”

Seeing the housekeeper’s reaction, Wen Xin couldn’t help but tease him. He was clearly aware of the housekeeper’s nerves, yet he couldn’t resist making a playful joke.

Realizing that Wen Xin was joking with him, Housekeeper Ou sighed softly, looking much more relaxed.

“Miss Wen is teasing me again, playing jokes on an old man like me. You’re here to visit the old master, aren’t you? The old master’s health has been… ah, Miss Wen, please come with me…”

The housekeeper sighed as he spoke, at a loss for words. However, with Wen Xin around, the housekeeper believed that Old Mr. Ou’s health would certainly improve. His only concern was whether Old Mr. Ou would be able to get over the hurdle in his heart with such ease.

“Miss Wen, how did you know that my master was feeling unwell? I’m so sorry to have troubled you to come here!”

“Actually, when Old Mr. Ou first fell ill, we had thought of asking you to come and check on him, but the old man is quite stubborn, so we had no choice but to invite Master Zhuge instead…”

Wen Xin followed behind the housekeeper, listening to his complaints with a light chuckle.

“It was Ou Shen Zhi’s mother who pleaded with Zhuge Jingming to find me and ask for my help. That’s how I learned about Old Mr. Ou’s illness…”

As soon as Wen Xin finished speaking, the door to the upstairs room opened, and Old Mr. Ou walked out dressed in his pajamas.

“You mean someone went to find you?” Old Mr. Ou stood at the edge of the corridor, looking down at Wen Xin on the lower floor, his expression sour.

“Yes, you mustn’t get agitated now. Go back to your room, and I will help you with a checkup,” Wen Xin said lazily as she looked up at Old Mr. Ou standing above, a playful smile on her face.

Speaking casually, Wen Xin made her way from downstairs to upstairs, arriving at Old Mr. Ou’s side. She gently supported his arm, leading him back to his room.

Back in Old Mr. Ou’s room, Wen Xin asked him to sit on the sofa. She pulled over a chair, sat across from him, placed her hand on his wrist, and began to check his body.

As she felt his pulse, Wen Xin observed Old Mr. Ou with a slight squint in her beautiful eyes, a faint smile in her gaze, showing she was in quite a good mood.

“Elder Ou, don’t you have anything you want to say to me? You’ve worked yourself up into this state, and you never thought to seek me out. Are you afraid of putting me in a difficult position, or are you worried that I would fall out with you over this incident?”

Wen Xin’s bright eyes fixed intently on Elder Ou, waiting for him to speak. But after two minutes of silence, Elder Ou did not open his mouth.

Seeing Elder Ou’s awkwardness, Wen Xin could not help but chuckle softly. She took out a black cloth pouch from her backpack, extracted several silver needles, disinfected them, and began to administer acupuncture to Elder Ou.

She inserted the silver needles one by one into Elder Ou’s body and, observing his conflicted expression, let out a soft sigh.

“I know you care for me and don’t want me to have a hard time with Mu Chengxi, but that’s no reason to be hard on yourself. There are things I might not want to solve, but it doesn’t mean I can’t!”

After saying this, Wen Xin had inserted all the acupuncture needles into Elder Ou. She stood up from the stool and took a bite out of an apple on Elder Ou’s desk, finding it sweet; she nodded in satisfaction.

“When you first brought Ou Shen Zhi to me, I was indeed very angry. After all, my possessions were stolen with the assistance of someone I trusted, and that naturally made me furious.”

“But… I wasn’t that angry afterwards; after all, they were just two old drawings.”

When Wen Xin mentioned that the designs were just junk, Elder Ou slowly raised his head, somewhat incredulous as he looked at Wen Xin, not believing that what Ou Shen Zhi treasured so dearly could actually be worthless.
