Chapter 10: Will of The Strong & The Change Within
(Year 847)
Finally, the day had come. Those who believed themselves to have hearts of steel. Those who wanted to prove themselves and those who wanted vengeance all gathered into one area.
Standing before a crowd of 400 cadets, A bald man with deep eyes lined with stress marks barked his introduction with a voice that could be heard up on the cliff behind him.
"Allow me to introduce myself! I'm Commandant Keith Sadies; And you WILL grow to hate me! This training isn't going to be anything good and ohhhhhh boy am I hoping to see you spineless shrimps crumble after the first week!"
The cadets stood at attention silently with their hands behind their back taking the blows like champs as he continued.
"I hope you're all prepared to be broken down, built up into something new and then be UTTERLY DESTROYED in a repeated process until you live off your hate for titans, feed off your hate for titans and grow off your hate for titans!
When I'm done with you, your fear of titans will be nothing compared to the ptsd you'll get from this place! Right now the lot of you are nothing! Useless livestock that should be thrown over the walls right now! However, over the next three soul crushing years you'll become something better, something worth the life you live here!
Ask yourselves what you want to be when this is all over! Are you a fighter!? Are you feed!? Or are you a John Doe that'll be crushed between boulder-sized incisors!? Before you graduate from this place I will have an answer from all of you; Is that clear!?"
"SIR, YES SIR!!"
.....
Atop the cliff that looked down on the cadets, Cloudius and Levi spyed on the process and talked amongst themselves.
"You can clearly tell which ones came from Shiganshina. Their eyes are hold such...darkened emotion and resolve." Cloudius noted as he tore off meat from the limb of cow he roasted.
"There's a lot of them to look through. Finding the right few will be quite the task." Levi concluded with lazy eyes.
"I put in an order for detailed reports on every cadet from the statt of their training to the day they graduate. In the next three years, they should make something of themselves."
"It's pointless though. It'll all be pointless when they learn the truth." His eyes dimmed as he referred back to the things he'd heard from Cloudius that day. The things he had been shown in the months after and the horrors that was the dark truth of the Kingdom.
"Indeed, it would be pointless. That's why we have to step innand give them a real reason to fight, to live and to die. This all for the greater good of humanity." Cloudius replied.
"Right. Anyways, I have to go gather some more supplies and finish the antennas. I'll let you know when I'm done so we can finish up on the relay devices." Saying that, Levi stood up left, leaving his companion to his own devices.
...
Hours had passed since the two watched the cadets go through their Right of Passage into official trainees and now it was time to finish up the preparation for in their base before digging out tunnels.
Similarly, the two were currently in a wide basement space that Cloudius modified to fit more electrical devices. While mostly everything was thrown together with poor parts, he was able to achive what Levi thought to be unthinkable.
There was a tall device that had three sharp points rotation at high speeds within a reenforced glass enclosure. Shots of electricity was fired off from with it and at the bottom was a conductor pad that had a thick cable flowing from it.
The cable connected to some square conduits that had multiple smaller wires flowing from them and connecting to 3 boxed screen computers that rested on a wooden table.
"Would you like to do the honors?" Levi wordlessly walked up to the computers and with a bated breath he pressed the power buttons.
The sound of the cpu's starting up was one of high frequency that eventually vanished to Levi. After a few seconds of a static screen they each began to turn on one by one!
"This is great!" Cloudius exclaimed. Although he didn't have the most amount of knowledge on this topic, his helmets' AI system was extremely intelligent and compiled most of the information for him, sending it to his brain.
"Now, we do the real test." Cloudius mentioned as he grabbed his helmet and took out a chip from the back of it.
"Everything's on that little chip, huh? All the lies and truths of this world?" Levi asked as his eyes didn't blink once when he looked upon the chip.
It was THE truth. All of it.
"Yes, however there are things you can not see on here. For this contains every single thing i've ever witness within this armor. My battles, my training, my traditions...chaotic horrors. Letting you be exposed to this is too dangerous not just for you, but for this whole planet.
If you become currupted and it spreads and leads the Chaos God's here...I'll be forced to forgo this mission and wipe out every bit of civilian this planet has to offer."
"Then what? What'll you do when that's done and you've killed everyone!?" Levi asked with a sharp tone that was reflected in his gaze.
"I will pick up my weapon. I will dawn my armor. I will say my prayers. And I will fight the impending Chaos untill I fall. THAT is MY duty. Yours is to lead mankind into a new age of prosperity. I will see to it that both of us fulfill these duties before we die."
Hearing his strong words, Levi had long sense knew the type of being he was dealing with. One that didn't care for recognition. One that didn't care for honor or riches. This was a man of pure will, conviction and strength!
As he looked at Cloudius place the chip within the cpu and began typing out strings of code he turned away with one thought in his mind.
'Hm, so this is a Grey Knight. This is...the typw of person I'll have to become from now on!' Where he went now, no one knew. However he had his ODM gear and multiple back up supplies. He was last reported being seen leaving the walls and for a week, Humanities Strongest Soldier was off the grid.
.....
In that same week, the Royal Government tried to make their move, calling in Cloudius under the suspicion of killing a man that held quite the high position in the Royal Government.
He stood in court with many looking at him with scornful eyes. Of course, this was all bullshit.
"We found the man with his head SPLATTERED like a dropped watermelon! Who else could have done such a thing! No human here has the power to do something like thay, but you!" One of the aristocrats yelled.
His eyed darted between Cloudius and the Grand Advisor, who stood by the judge with a well practiced face of disdain.
"That is correct. I am the only human here with that ability. However, I have no reason to go after such worthless people of high society. You mean nothing to my grand vision. Your government is nothing, your status is null to me and by the power of the Emperor I will smite you like a warp thing in human clothes.
My actions are just and well natured for your kind and the Emperor protects you all for he bars from exacting just judgment against you. All of you who sit here worthlessly doing nothing for the betterment of your citizens. You sit here and put in no work with your hands or effort with your wills!
While it would be my pleasure to put you wastes of space in the soil beneathmy feet, it would be such a dishonorable act to this planet I would weep for the shame I bring unto it.
Now bow your heads in prayer to the Emperor, for he sent me here to rid the world of your messes." Other than the sound of him walking out of the courtroom there wasn't even a buzz from a fly.
What could they do? What could they actually do? Arrest the man? Who the hell are they kidding, he came here on his own will!
What? Try to kick him out for not following the law? Yeah right, the people would have their heads presented to him as an offering by the next day begging for his retur.
'DAMNIT!! Levi's off the grid, we can't control the big guy, there's going to be a deeper investigation ran on the murder and there's a vacant seat at the round table now!! FUCK!'
From afar, Cloudius smirked as he watched the Grand Advisor stressing over the fact he couldn't get what he wanted. Over his arm he carried a satchel and took from it a camra he made, snapping a picture of the man and going about his day.
....
It wasn't long before the sun had went down and the world went quiet. Cloudius stood at the gate of Wall Rose with his arms crossed and a relaxed posture as he leaned on the other side of the gates.
From the top of the wall he heard the guards on watch duty that night yelling for the men below to open the gates. However....
"Finally."
The sharp scraping of a sword against stone was heard getting closer and moments later, Levi dropped down down from the wall in an amazing show of durability as he impacted the ground in a low stance.
"Oh, you've changed." Cloudius remarked. He looked over his torn clothes and nearly destroyed gear.
"Yes, I have."
....
