Chapter 76 - The Slum Boy’s Desperate Counterattack (21)
Right after Si Yisi and the others were “rescued” from the desolate planet…
“What? Say that again… Who did the captured Zerg claim to be?!”
For the first time, an expression that could be considered surprise appeared on Emperor Clint’s usually unreadable face. However, this emotion was quickly masked by his usual dignified, solemn demeanor.
He thought to himself; This must be the Zerg stealing Tru’s genes. In the interstellar era, creating a counterfeit was far too easy.
The spy, who was responsible for reporting classified information, repeated his findings once again. “That Zerg claimed to be His Highness, Third Prince Tru. He said he was turned into that because he was framed by a Zerg spy.”
“…Hmm? Take me to see him.”
“Your Majesty, your status is too noble for such a risk—” One of Clint’s most trusted ministers tried to dissuade him, sweat beading on his palms and forehead.
“No need to say more. Take me there.”

Inside the special prison, Tru lay half-dead, his eyes and limbs tightly bound. No one had subjected him to torture, even though interstellar humans harbored deep hatred toward the Zerg.
He was merely restrained by a standard mental suppression device, but the sensation of his weakening mental strength drove him nearly insane; because he had already believed most of what Alina had said!
His voice was hoarse, like rough stones scraping against glass. “Let me go! I’m the Third Prince of the Empire!!”
“If you dare to torture me, every last one of you should be sentenced to death—!”
“Shut up.”
Clint couldn’t stand listening anymore. His face darkened as he strode up to Tru. “How did you end up like this? Speak!”
At first glance, Clint immediately confirmed that this “Zerg”; with insect-like eyes and a body riddled with Zerg mutations, was indeed his good-for-nothing son!
Tru, as if grasping at his last hope, broke down and cried out, “Father! Father! The Zerg did something to me! They turned me into this—”
He hesitated for a moment but ultimately chose not to mention Si Yisi being a Zerg spy!
Facing Clint, he knew he couldn’t afford to lie, or he would be exposed on the spot. He needed to use this opportunity to escape, then return in triumph as an Emperor!
From beginning to end, he never believed Alina’s words. To Tru, the Zerg were nothing more than a swarm of vermin that needed to be eradicated completely. Especially that damned Queen Zerg, Alina. She deserved to die!
Clint scrutinized Tru carefully. He could tell that Tru wasn’t lying, but he was definitely hiding something. Even though Tru had always been a disappointment, Clint couldn’t deny that he felt a lingering sense of guilt toward him…
21 years ago, when Tru was still an infant, he could have been saved from the Zerg. However, at the same time, the Zerg launched an attack on Clint’s soldiers. For the sake of the greater good, Clint chose his soldiers.
From a strategic standpoint, sacrificing a single insignificant life wasn’t a decision worthy of criticism. But as a father, Clint couldn’t help but want to make amends.
“Enough!” Clint turned his face to the side. “If what you’re saying is true, the medical team will do everything in their power to restore your human form!”
But deep down, Clint knew…
Even if Tru had committed a crime, he would do everything possible to protect him. Even if it meant imprisonment, as long as he could preserve Tru’s life, that would be enough!
Human emotions weren’t made of stone. He was a decisive and ruthless Emperor, but he wasn’t a cold-hearted father.

Tru was soon transferred to a medical laboratory, where the doctors used the most advanced, precision instruments to analyze the cause of his Zerg mutation!
Although confidentiality and non-harm protocols were in place, the doctors couldn’t contain their excitement. Seeing such a rare case for the first time, they were both terrified and utterly fascinated!
Forced to face these examinations, watching as scalpels sliced into his body, Tru’s eyes darkened with sinister malice!
Endure… I only need to endure for a while. Once I regained my human form, I’ll return every humiliation I suffered a hundred—no, a thousand—times over!
Since I’ve become a Zerg, that damned Si’an should suffer the same fate!
Even without the homogenizer, it doesn’t matter; there’s still a living, breathing Zerg right here! I’ll drain her of every last drop of her Zerg genes, refine them into an injection, and force it into Si’an’s body—
From then on, I’ll no longer be the one hunted like a beast.
Si’an would be the one the entire galaxy wants dead.
Die!

Tru’s so-called plan was nothing more than an unrealistic daydream. As he lay on the medical bed, relying on the Empire’s resources in an attempt to regain his human form, Si Yisi had already taken action.
Through Lin Xian’s hand, he not only filed an appeal directly to the Supreme Court but also planted a journalist in the process!
Si Yisi knew all too well how those in power operated. The original owner had once happily gathered solid evidence and submitted an appeal, only for the case to be dragged out for a full 2 years without a verdict.
It was only after the mission had failed that he realized… from the very beginning, the higher-ups had deliberately suppressed the matter!
If that was the case, then why not manipulate public opinion from the start? It might not have been the most “righteous” method, but when dealing with villains like these, sometimes more extreme measures had to be taken!
Fighting poison with poison; there was no better way.
The journalist he had found was highly capable and harbored deep hatred toward the Zergs and anyone who colluded with them. He had become a reporter solely to build an intelligence network, all so he could avenge his wife and children, who had been brutally killed by the Zergs!
After verifying the authenticity of the video multiple times, he gritted his teeth and spent all his savings to broadcast it on the massive interstellar screens—Where every single human across the galaxy would see it the moment they stepped outside.
It played on a loop!
To avoid being targeted by the Kaz Empire, the journalist secretly fled to the Shuling Kingdom.
At the end of the broadcast, he even left a small marker that pointed to his StarNet account, where he had also uploaded the chillingly long video. He openly invited professionals to verify its authenticity!
As the video played on public screens, it also spread like wildfire across StarNet, pinned to the top for maximum exposure!
It ignited a massive storm, shaking both empires to their core!
The footage recorded by Huo Jinren contained far more than just Tru harming those noble students. During the battle between the Zerg and Si Yisi, Huo Jinren had left a communicator running in the background, recording everything in its entirety!
It was as good as handing Tru a death sentence!
[Did you see this?! The Empire’s prince actually turned into a Zerg?!]
[Is the video real…? I just got chills down my spine. What a two-faced traitor.]
[It’s real! Absolutely real! I specialize in this field, and there’s not a single trace of forgery or editing!]
[Just saying… is no one worried about the safety of the person who leaked this video? This is classified imperial information!]
[I’m a student at Anderson Military Academy, and I can confirm that during our midterm assessment, we DID encounter a massive Zerg swarm on that desolate planet! I barely escaped with my life, only surviving because a noble student saved me!]

Just as Clint wrapped up an important meeting, he was hit with the shocking news.
“Your Majesty, there’s more. Several students have formally submitted an appeal to the Supreme Court, presenting evidence that the Third Prince deliberately lured noble students to their deaths and directly caused the Zerg tide disaster on the desolate planet!”
And right on its heels—
“Your Majesty! The Shuling Kingdom’s diplomatic envoy has sent an official statement regarding this matter. They believe that even if he is the Third Prince, since he has been tainted by the Zerg, he must be made an example of!”
Clint’s face turned black with rage. “What do they mean by this? When did my Empire’s affairs become their business? Are they trying to provoke us?!”
“But Your Majesty… while you’ve been handling state affairs these past few days, the people have already grown restless. We can’t delay any longer—”
“If His Highness, Prince Tru, truly didn’t commit these crimes, then reasonable citizens will naturally speak up for him! We beg Your Majesty to issue an order for a full investigation!!”
The Shuling Kingdom’s stance and the outcry from the public pushed the situation to its climax.
Even though Si Yisi hadn’t publicly led the charge with his appeal, there were plenty of people eager to dig up every detail and expose it to the public!
***
On a winter dawn in the year 250 of the Interstellar Calendar…
The Supreme Court officially convened a trial on the matter!
Just a few hours before the court session, Tru viciously tore off the restraints binding his body. The soldiers under his command had infiltrated the facility and broke him out at the critical moment, right before the trial began!
From the subtle yet unmistakable looks of contempt around him, Tru had already realized—Things weren’t unfolding the way he had imagined!
“Damn it, damn it, DAMN IT—!”
Tru crawled on the ground, slithering away like a true Zerg. His twisted body resembled an ugly reptile, and without realizing it, his thoughts had already become more aligned with the Zerg than with humanity.
This time, he chose to escape using his private soldiers, partly because he was convinced that the Kaz Empire’s medical expertise was absolute trash, and partly because…
He was still thinking of bringing in more Zerg.
These damned, ignorant citizens… more of them deserved to die!
What Tru didn’t know was that, at this very moment, Si Yisi was standing not far from him.
At some point, without making a sound, he had silently infiltrated the medical laboratory.
Si Yisi whispered to Ah Tu, “Let’s wait and watch how he destroys himself.”
