Chapter 10 - Ruijin's Charisma
Ruijin’s Charisma
“Phew..”
Goblin group sat near the rocks for a break, panting.
A surprising number of goblins.
It was a wonder how the townspeople could have stopped them and held on thus far.
“Whoa.. What’s the tally?”
As they examined the goblin bodies one by one, all that was left was white ash.
“Much more than expected… At least half must be handed to the townspeople.”
Ruijin placed the goblin bodies into the item box.
Today, due to Ruijin’s authority, the surviving villagers were forced to undergo defense preparation.
“Huh… Does the guardian deity visit then.”
As we turned to leave the village, there was a weathered old man who seemed like the village chief, returning the ruizen to us.
With a side glance, the village chief checked the condition of the ruizen.
Upon seeing the well-crafted saddle on the ruizen’s body, Inae let out a sigh of relief as she spoke.
“You’ve worked hard… We came this far for the sake of the village, so we’ll give you half of the euliri-bi.”
The village chief spoke as if he knew that ruizen had lost at the table.
“There’s an inn nearby, so why don’t you stay there for tonight…”
“Just for a little while.”
Ruizen cut off the village chief’s words and said.
“Do you think I’m being unreasonable to the Goblin?”
As I spoke, the village chief hesitated and then spoke as if in astonishment.
“Yes, the… the wounds on your body as well and… you came back empty-handed…”
The village chief’s words faltered as he turned his gaze elsewhere.
The reason the village chief treated me in such a manner was due to the image of a conspiracy that had been instilled in them until now.
Not all conspiracies are like that, but the terrifying conspiracies… No, young ones came to prevent, cooperate, and commit crimes against the euliri, so conspiracies became a being of fear, solving everything in their minds.
The village chief appeared in such a matter-of-fact way to avoid touching Ruizen’s nerves.
“Don’t worry. I’ll be fine.”
“Yes..?”
Ruizen loosened the man’s scarf and placed his hand in the item box.
“Ah~ I wouldn’t have known if this was a counterfeit. Did it exceed the 100-unit limit as you put it in the item box? Just wait a moment.”
Ruizen placed his hand in the item box and took a step back, and after a while, Ruizen withdrew his hand from the item box.
“Now, here they are, the terrifying goblins of today.”
As Louis grabbed the arm and crushed it, sand-like goblin figures emerged there.
“Wh..what…”
The village chief was startled as he watched the disintegrated goblin figures of Louis while hearing loud noises outside. A few people began crowding around Louis and the village chief.
“Mom! Is that a goblin??”
“Shush!!! Quiet down.”
The mother, who was covering the child’s ears, avoided eye contact.
‘It can’t be; that gaze must not see this.’,
Louis, having understood, redirected his eyes to the child.
‘Wow…’
A child, with a startled face, closely observed the goblin figures. The child’s gaze met with Louis’.
“Hey!!”
“Not okay!!”
He approached Louis.
“Hey! Was all this caught by you?!”
The goblin-eyed child exclaimed.
The child’s mother came up to him.
Louis bent down slightly and raised his hand to the boy.
“Not okay!!!!”
The mother’s firmness crumbled into laughter suddenly.
This young man…
“Ha!”
Luizen scratched his head and smiled brightly.
The mother, who thought her son was doing something he shouldn’t, slowly approached Luizen at his seat and put her hand on the young man’s head and said.
“Of course. It’s true. Isn’t the councilor over there? The councilor asked for help and he came. He couldn’t go up the mountain for a while, right?”
“Yes. Mom said that there were fierce monsters in the mountain that she couldn’t let people go in.”
“Now, since those fierce monsters in the mountain have all been dealt with by this young man, don’t worry.”
“Wow! Really?? You’re amazing!!”
The young man stood up from his seat and said while a teenage boy cautiously approached Luizen.
“Ho.. by any chance, are you the person hired by the councilor to handle the ‘problem’?”
A trembling voice called to Luizen looked up.
Luizen replied with a friendly face.
“Yes. I just finished an assigned quest from the councilor.”
Luizen flexed his arms over his golden watch.
“Although there were more of them than expected, I can assure you, there will be no more goblins coming down from the mountain. I’ve confirmed everything.”
It seemed as if Luizen’s words were intended for the safety of everyone and he said them like a meaningful statement.
‘Every single one of them cost money, so what was the point of just killing them all if nothing would change later?’
In reality, Luizen had done nothing but lost focus on the money with which he dealt a large-scale blow to the goblins.
The young man seemed moved by Luizen’s words and sat in his seat clenching his fists tightly.
“Really, thank you so much!!”
The man’s impulsive actions.
Louise was startled and held onto the man more tightly.
“Please don’t. I only did what I had to do.”
‘It’s my job to gather money.’
“Sigh…sigh…”
Meanwhile. The man who had been struggling in front of Louise wept in front of everyone.
‘Why are you crying??’
Seeing the man trembling in front of him, Louise comforted him sympathetically.
“Teacher, is there any reason why you’re crying?”
With a determined voice, Louise spoke, and the man replied in a choked voice.
“In my early years, I married a childhood friend and lived a happy life. We climbed the mountain together, and she supported me in everything I did beside me.. That day, I went up the mountain with my wife. To follow the path, I trod the path in front. However, it wasn’t meant to be…”
“Because of a sudden storm, my wife had a serious accident. Whether it was fate, my wife still thinks back anxiously..”
“But my husband… couldn’t do anything… In the end, I couldn’t do anything but help my wife down the mountain after she had fallen..”
The man spoke to Louise once again.
“Thank you so much.. truly, thank you..”
The man trembled as he spoke, and Louise listened to everything the man said until the very end.
“Is your wife in good health now?”
“Aah…”
The man consoled himself as he continued to speak.
“I asked for help from well-known healers and doctors, but my wife’s recovery was not possible..”
A man hesitantly sidles to his seat.
Louisian clenched onto the man’s shoulder.
“Please guide me to a place where my wife is staying.”
“Wh…what?”
“I’m not sure what’s happening, but… I want to see it once.”
“Ah.. no, it’s not your fault.. I just thought capturing the goblin would have been tiring.. what to do..”
“Husband.”
Louisian sighed deeply into the husband’s ear.
“If you miss an opportunity once, it may never come again. Long ago, I let go of that opportunity.”
“The day I missed the opportunity. From that day, I wanted something I couldn’t have, holding on to just the things that seemed to touch them.”
“Do you think you will live a life like mine? No..”
Louisian said with a bitter smile.
“Holding on to something weak, like a barely reachable goal… will you try to hold on?”
As Louisian’s words ended, the man burst into uncontrollable sobs.
***
Following the husband’s guidance, Louisian headed towards the house.
The man was small when he knocked on the door of the house he was heading towards.
“Look, came out..”
The man soon opened the door.
Seeing his wife, Louisian was left with no choice but to be astonished.
‘This is…magic..’
Rui Zhen felt directly the fact that this had happened because of drug addiction when he saw the woman’s face.
The door swung open, revealing the faintly written fate of the drug.
This was a different outcome from the fate that common goblins would have faced.
“Can you endure it… teacher..”
As the man grasped his wife’s hand tightly, he spoke.
“I will try once. Until my ability wears out.”
Rui Zhen looked at the man calmly and said.
‘Just a little more…! Just a little more…!’
Rui Zhen was searching and erasing the demons inside the woman one by one.
Even though the places like arm, leg, and kidneys had been occupied by the demon for a long time.
‘There’s nothing in the head… if so…’
Since the head was free from demons, it began treatment holding onto faint hopes.
Even if it was knocked just a bit, it seemed like the woman’s life would be weakened, so Rui Zhen endured with effort while searching for a place where the demon’s synchronization was collapsing.
“It’s here!”
Rui Zhen discovered the concentrated spot of the woman’s demon and with all the strength and magic he could muster, he dissipated the demon.
“Whew..”
“It’s over, isn’t it..?”
As Rui Zhen let go of the hand he had been holding on to, the woman began to weakly move.
“Her.. her vo..!”
As soon as the man spoke in a loud voice, the woman opened her eyes, which had shown no sign of consciousness until then.
“..Impossible…”
For a long time, women and men had been wary of each other and then suddenly embraced utterly.
“Look..Look!!!!”
“Now it’s all right..Impossible…”
Two violently hugging each other.
Louisane opened the door and cautiously stepped outside.
“It’s been a long time since you two have spent some serious hours together.”
Louisane brought them happiness that he wouldn’t even give to a man with dim voice.
“Then should I go home as well?”
Louisane turned his tired body and headed forward.
Now he even had a family to rely on.
“This time.. I will never regret it..”
Louisane spoke, looking at the sun disappearing behind the mountain.
To avoid repeating the painful memory of that day twice again…
