Chapter 103: Diana: I Was Careless
Seeing Robert quickly finish off the sandwich and hot milk, Diana is momentarily stunned. She eyes Robert skeptically and asks, "You can still eat? Are you really not full?"
"Can eat!" Robert nods eagerly, patting his stomach, "Yeah, that was just like an appetizer before the main meal, barely enough to tide me over..."
So, are the sandwich and hot milk meant to be eaten before or after the meal?
Robert: The sandwich is like a pre-meal appetizer, and the hot milk can smooth things over after eating, but having it beforehand as an appetizer works just fine too!
Soon, Diana, with a hint of skepticism, heads out to eat with Robert. As she mentioned before, she doesn't take him to a buffet but chooses a nicely decorated restaurant...
All buffet owners in Paris are sincerely grateful to Diana, wishing she continues avoiding buffets with Robert...
"Marseille fish soup, foie gras, Parisian lobster, red wine pheasant, Saffron Chicken, steak fries, French lamb chops, duck leg with baby potatoes, pasta, oysters, panini, meat and vegetable stew..." As Robert starts listing dishes from the menu, Diana realizes she might have underestimated his appetite. Especially when Robert adds, "Let's order one of everything. Your menu isn't that extensive, and there's a bunch of desserts. I'll order more if it's not enough..."
"One of everything? Order more if it's not enough?" The waiter, maintaining his composure, has never heard such an order before. He turns to Diana, hesitantly asking, "Madam...?"
"Then one of everything, please." Despite the turmoil inside, Diana calmly responds.
"Alright..." The waiter nods hesitantly and then informs the kitchen to start preparing. Soon, dishes, desserts, and soups continuously arrive at the table, quickly consumed by Robert.
Watching Robert devour the meal, Diana's mind wanders. She wonders how Robert's alien species survives. If every member of his species eats like him, can their planet produce enough food? Won't they deplete their planet?
Unaware of Diana's thoughts, Robert finds each dish at the restaurant a bit small in portion and not very rich in variety, thinking a buffet would have been more economical...
But since he's there, Robert decides to order more bread and other main courses to fill up.
Diana: I really was careless!
Seeing Robert ordering more main courses, an idea flashes through Diana's mind.
After a while, amidst the astonished staff, Diana pays the bill and leaves the restaurant with Robert. It's a good thing Diana has some assets; otherwise, the financial pressure of feeding Robert would be quite significant...
"Let's find a place to continue fighting!" After a satisfying meal, Robert once again challenges Diana to a fight.
"Is your injury healed?" Diana looks at Robert skeptically.
"Not completely, but moving around a bit shouldn't be a problem!" Robert, eager to fight, feels his battle spirit stirring again.
"Alright, but don't go all out like yesterday..." Diana, feeling Robert's battle spirit, gets drawn in and eventually agrees to a light sparring in a secluded area.
After a long while, a visibly exhausted Robert stops to catch his breath, while Diana stretches contentedly, thinking a daily fight like this isn't so bad...
"Are you sure you haven't fully recovered? I feel like you've gotten stronger," Diana, with her battle spirit waning, looks at Robert curiously.
"Of course, I haven't fully recovered yet. Otherwise, I could have forced you to use more of your power, even that hidden strength!" Robert proudly nods, not knowing Diana's limits but guessing a few more improvements like this could push her to use the divine power she displayed last time.
"That's divine power. I'm the daughter of Zeus, king of the Olympian gods, and Hippolyta, queen of the Amazons. I have the blood of a god flowing through me, which allows me to wield the mighty power of Zeus..." Diana sits next to Robert, sharing her lineage, "I was born on Themyscira, and I'm older than you might think. It's just that my divine blood keeps me from aging."
"A demigod? So that power is divine power, no wonder!" Robert isn't concerned about Diana's age but is interested in divine power and gods, "I've heard of Zeus, isn't he the one from the Athena mythology stories?"
"Greek myths are widely known, so it's normal you've heard of them. But are you also interested in the goddess of wisdom? Sometimes, what you hear in myths isn't necessarily the truth..." Diana narrows her eyes at Robert, speaking softly.
"Hm?" Robert senses a fleeting danger, scanning his surroundings but finding no third presence before turning back to Diana with anticipation, "So, are there any Saints around Athena? Are they strong?"
"Saints? Strong?" Diana pauses, confused, "What are those? Athena doesn't have any Saints around her. Where did you hear that?"
"No Saints, huh..." Robert looks disappointed, hoping for Saints' existence in a world with talismans from Jackie Chan Adventures and Greek deities. It seems he was hoping for too much.
"Where did you hear these rumors?" Diana, noticing Robert's focus isn't on Athena, doesn't show much reaction and casually shifts the topic, "What about you? Can you share your story?"
"Oh, I'm a Saiyan, a naturally combative race. Sixteen years ago, I landed on Earth from a spaceship and was adopted by my family..." Robert nods, briefly sharing about the Saiyans.
