Video Games
"Cardio isn't really my thing, but it's definitely important for your health," Emmet said as he watched the boys play basketball as well.
Alex turned towards Emmet and nodded, showcasing he understood.
"Yeah, it can be pretty boring to run in the gym. That's why I usually run on the side of the road or in the forest. It's so much more refreshing, and you get a nice view while at it," Alex said as he watched someone dunk.
"That sounds like something my brother would do," Emmet said.
"Your brother, which one?" Alex replied though he wasn't really putting much thought into the conversation.
"Edward, heard you don't like him much," Emmet said as turned to face Alex.
Alex turned around to face Emmet as well, a small grin on his face as he answered.
"Well, the guy didn't really that good of an impression on my sister, Bella. And you know, I don't really like it when people think my sister smells so vile that it's a pain to even sit with her for an hour during class," Alex said.
Emmet released a short laugh and then replied as he put a hand over Alex's shoulders.
"Ah, he had a stomachache that day, it wasn't Bella's fault at all, you can tell her that," Emmet said as he tried to explain how Edward didn't mean it.
"Right, I remember something about him going to the school staff and asking if he could change classes, though. Maybe I remembered wrong, huh, Emmet?" Alex said as he remembered how Bella had seen Edward ask for a class change.
'She didn't actually tell me, but I remember it from the books, ' Alex thought as he stared at Emmet. His grin had now taken a mischievous look as he waited to hear how Emmet would get out of this one.
Emmet just stared at Alex for a moment and then burst into bright boisterous laughter.
Alex stood there confused as he looked at the vampire, who was acting like someone who had inhaled Joker's laughing gas.
'Is his head broken?' Alex thought.
"Ah, you got me, yeah, Edward was just being a little shit-head that day, I don't really know why either, but yeah, he feels bad about it and will apologize when he comes back on Monday," Emmet said as he rubbed the back of his head.
"Right, well, you're his brother, so it's only natural you were going to make an excuse for him," Alex said as he nodded toward Emmet, showing he understood.
"Thanks, glad you understand that I can't just not help out my brothers. Now, what else do you do besides running? Do you have any other hobbies?" Emmet asked as he continued the conversation.
"Well, I used to play video games a lot, but now I've kind of left it behind since I came to Forks. Don't really have any gaming consoles at my dad's house," Alex said and then felt Emmet turn towards him abruptly.
"You play video games?" Emmet said, his honey-colored eyes wide open as he stared in what Alex thought was excitement.
"Uh yeah, is that such a big deal?" Alex answered as he showed a confused look, even tilting his head.
"Yeah, I've been trying to find someone to play with, but there just isn't anyone here in Forks. I've been stuck either playing online or single-player games," Emmet said as he shook Alex's shoulders, causing his whole body to shake as well.
"Ok, ok, now stop shaking me," Alex said as Emmet finally stopped shaking his body.
"Why didn't you just play with your siblings if you wanted to play with someone?" Alex asked Emmet, confused.
Emmet just looked at him for a second and then sighed in what appeared to be sadness.
"Theyr trash, the lot of them. I play with them sometimes, but when someone doesn't really like video games, then they will never get good of them, and it's not fun to win every time against them, I don't even have to try, and they lose," Emmet said as he expressed his deep sadness.
Alex looked at him for a moment and then nodded and replied.
"I see. I don't get you at all," Alex said as he nodded his head as if he had understood everything.
Emmet turned to Alex and asked in confusion?
"What don't you get? Isn't it boring to always win and there to never be any amount of difficulty?" Emmet asked Alex.
Alex then turned towards Emmet and made an expression as if he was about to criticize some small kid on the road.
"You know what the best thing about playing with other people in real life is, Emmet? Beating them so badly that you can hold it over their head for months until they burst out in frustration and anger," Alex said as he remembered his past life, how he used to play games against his friends, and all the gloating they would do to each other when they lost.
'Ah, I'll forever remember those days as the peak gaming form in my life,' Alex thought as he remembered his thirteen-day win streak against his friends.
'They almost decided to beat me up by the thirteenth day. Good times, good times,' Alex thought as a grin took hold of his face.
Emmet just stood there as he watched Alex for a few moments.
"Right, I guess you don't understand me after all," Emmet said as he nodded his head awkwardly.
"Don't worry, Emmet, ill make you understand when I gloat to your face for weeks on end when we play together," Alex said as he nodded as if he had imparted some divine knowledge on how to achieve nirvana.
"Right," Emmet nodded as his brow twitched.
*Ring* *Ring*
The bell signaling the end of the class rang as the students started heading towards the changing rooms.
"Well, it seems like that's the end of class. I'm going to go change up and head towards my next class so I can choose a good spot," Alex said to Emmet as he slapped his back and waved toward him.
"All right, see you around, Alex," Emmet said as he waved back.
"See ya!" Alex replied as he disappeared into the changing room.
