Chapter 21 Ancient Ferocious Beast, Plundering the Thunder Toad’s Entry – Devour (Purple)!

Boom!

Southern Yellow Wind Ridge.

Clouds churned, and the battle raged on.

“Guaa!”

A thunderous croak boomed like rolling thunder. A massive toad, thirty zhang tall like a small mountain, lashed out its long tongue, forming countless whip-like shadows, densely packed, attacking the Yellow Wind King.

Each jump carried it higher than mountains, and arcs of electricity crackled over its body. A single flick of its tongue unleashed a cascade of lightning, shattering trees and crumbling boulders with terrifying force.

With one breath, it summoned thunderclouds, raining divine lightning down upon the battlefield.

Yellow Wind King was jolted into alarm.

“No wonder this place is devoid of monsters. Turns out, an ancient ferocious beast has been lurking in the lake!”

[Species: Ferocious Beast – Thunder Toad (60%)].

[Realm: None].

[Entries: Innate Thunder Control (Gold), Devour (Purple), Dynamic Vision (Purple), Vast Stomach (Purple), Electric Tongue (Purple)…].

It had no cultivation realm—not because it was weak, but because it didn’t cultivate immortality or divinity. Instead, it walked the path of bloodline regression, refining its innate divine abilities.

With each metamorphosis, its strength and body grew infinitely, ferocious beyond compare, capable of devouring even immortals and buddhas.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

Lightning exploded. Water surged. Yellow Wind King fought with all his might, battling in close quarters with his spear and attacking from afar with arrows. Though he managed to wound the beast, it only provoked its savage instincts further. The toad’s blood energy was immense—like a boundless ocean. Its emitted fiendish aura shattered mountains.

Although Yellow Wind King possessed the bloodline of an ancient beast, he was not like this toad, who specialized in divine abilities and physical strength. His blood energy was nowhere near as vast.

Activating 《Great Heavenly Immortal Technique》, he clashed with the beast head-on, but his black iron spear couldn’t withstand the force—it shattered!

The Thunder Toad opened its massive mouth, unleashing a powerful suction force that swept up trees, lake water, and earth, pulling everything into its maw. Before Yellow Wind King could react, he was swallowed whole.

Inside the Beast’s Belly, the battle ceased. The Thunder Toad leaped back into the lake. Inside its belly, Yellow Wind King clung to a tree, rolling into its cavernous stomach.

To his astonishment, its stomach was unimaginably vast—nearly the size of ten football fields, a hundred zhang high. It resembled an alternate dimension, filled with countless dissolved and corroded bones, along with some glowing metallic remnants.

As he observed, a putrid yellow rain fell from above. The trees and soil it touched immediately melted, releasing wisps of green smoke.

“Stomach acid?”

Yellow Wind King quickly formed a seal, conjuring a protective energy barrier around himself to resist the intense corrosive force.

Zzzzzzz…

His energy shield sizzled as it was rapidly eroded.

“So strong! But… eating recklessly comes at a price. Haven’t you ever heard of Princess Iron Fan? Oh, right, you haven’t!”

He drew his Thunderwood Divine Bow, reaching into his quiver for the twelve Five-Element Arrows gifted by his senior refining master. Each arrow carried five layers of restrictions—Armor-Piercing, Sharpness, Tearing, Penetration, and an elemental restriction corresponding to one of the five elements.

Unlike the makeshift restrictions he’d encountered before, these were fully refined, maximizing their power. Taking a deep breath, Yellow Wind King adjusted his stance, nocking five arrows onto his bow at once.

Yes—Five Arrows Fired Simultaneously!

Each representing one of the five elements. These twelve arrows were divided into three sets.

Why three?

One set of five arrows corresponded to the five elements. The other two were the Yin Arrow and the Yang Arrow, forming a dual-element set.

“Gold, Wood, Water, Fire, Earth—Five Elements, Unleashed! Slay gods and annihilate immortals!”

Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!

The arrows tore through the air, each trailing a dazzling streak of white, green, blue, red, and yellow light.

Thud! Thud! Thud!

They all struck their target, ripping through the Thunder Toad’s flesh, embedding deep into its body. A bloodstorm rained down inside its stomach. The entire space trembled as the beast let out a deafening wail.

Moments later, a violent explosion shattered the sky. Each Five-Element Arrow carried a destructive formation. Upon breaking, these formations released their full power. The conflicting elemental forces clashed, triggering an immense destructive blast.

The Thunder Toad struggled violently, but ultimately, it succumbed. No matter how tough its outer skin was, its internal organs were still soft and vulnerable compared to spirit weapons.

_____

[You have slain the ferocious beast – Thunder Toad. You have plundered a random Thunder Toad entry: Devour (Purple). Would you like to fuse it?].

[Devour (Purple): By consuming flesh and other materials, you can absorb and convert energy, rapidly restoring yourself.].

“Hm?”

Yellow Wind King was greatly disappointed.

Was this what he fought so hard for?

What he truly wanted was [Innate Thunder Control (Gold)]!

The moment he saw the Thunder Toad, he was ecstatic. He needed to undergo Tribulation Lightning, but he couldn’t cultivate thunder techniques—the heavens forbade it. However, there was a loophole. The Heavenly Court could restrict postnatal thunder arts, but it couldn’t control innate thunder divine abilities!

So when he spotted the Thunder Toad with its golden [Innate Thunder Control], he went berserk, risking everything to fight it.

And in the end… this was all he got!

Water gushed in through the torn flesh.

“Water?”

“Wait… am I still in the lake?”

Yellow Wind King frowned. He wasn’t good at fighting in water.

Zap!

Just then, a water bubble shot out from the bamboo basket at his waist. A tiny carp emerged, waving its fins at him, signaling for him to leave it to her. She had been watching nervously the entire time, and now, seeing Yellow Wind King’s victory, she was overjoyed.

She eagerly rushed out to help. After all, with the Thunder Toad dead, this lake now belonged to her. Yellow Wind King had won a kingdom for her!

Well done!

Yellow Wind King blinked in surprise. He had almost forgotten about her. She was no ordinary carp. A carp with true dragon bloodline—naturally adept at controlling water. She and the water bubble dived into the lake, their bodies expanding rapidly.

In moments, she had grown three to four zhang long, her golden scales shimmering brilliantly. Although she had yet to take human form, she already had dragon whiskers, dragon scales, and a dragon tail—a pureblood carp dragon.

Swimming against the current, she quickly stopped the influx of water. The Thunder Toad’s corpse shuddered and began to float upward. Before long, golden sunlight streamed in.

Yellow Wind King leaped out, landing atop the beast’s floating carcass. The carp dragon joyfully churned the waves, pushing the corpse swiftly toward shore. The lake was stained red with blood, attracting countless fish, but none dared to approach.

The carp dragon’s dragon aura dominated the aquatic creatures. It drank deeply from the lake, absorbing the rich spiritual energy in the Thunder Toad’s blood. She felt that with just a little more, she could take human form. However, she knew her limits.

The Thunder Toad’s blood wasn’t just filled with spiritual energy—it also contained a dense feral aura. Too much of it could taint her bloodline. Arriving at shore, the carp dragon withdrew her aura, flicked her tail at Yellow Wind King, and swiftly vanished into the lake.

Crackle…

With the dragon’s suppression gone, swarms of fish—including black fish demons, crab spirits, and old clams—descended upon the feast. The smarter ones ate a little, then retreated to digest. The greedy ones ate until they burst. Truly, when a whale falls, all things thrive!
