I Became a Malicious Streamer

Chapter 152

I arrived at the recording studio notified by the game company after accepting the proposal.

According to Si-young, I could just record alone and send it without visiting, but that was not an option.

Since I’d be hearing my voice while playing the game later, I wanted to do it right.

Just imagining others having clean voices while my character’s voice is low quality was unbearable.

To avoid that disaster, it was wise to record in a place with professional equipment.

So, here I am in the recording studio, where the man introduced as the director started hiccuping the moment he saw me—what a tiny mishap.

He freaked out as if he saw a ghost, making me jump. After that, he managed to calm down and repeatedly apologized while excitedly greeting me.

It felt familiar. Most people showing that kind of reaction are…

“I’m a fan.”

Sure enough, the director was a big fan. When he shyly introduced himself as Molbu despite his looks, I couldn’t help but smirk.

At the same time, I could see how this had all unfolded.

Honestly, it was ridiculous that I received a proposal when there are illustrious voice actors and other candidates. Moreover, the character I was to voice, Sena, had a significant role.

But I wasn’t about to blame the director. It was his skill to be in such a position socially and to work with someone he wanted.

I was just as lucky. I unexpectedly got a unique and special opportunity to voice a game character, thanks to starting my broadcasts, building a strong fanbase, and even creating a Molbu among game directors.

It’s a kind of snowball, a result of my efforts thus far.

Isn’t it just an overconfident favor from a fan? Yeah, that’s true. So what to do about it?

That’s just how life is. There’s nothing more to say than “if you’re jealous, go do it yourself.”

I found myself lost in thought for no good reason. Then, I suddenly remembered a donation from yesterday’s stream. Someone commented about how easy my life must be, getting money just sitting at home playing games.

In the past, I would have laughed it off, but recently, I’d become a bit sensitive. It stuck with me more than I expected.

Objectively speaking, being a streamer is pretty sweet. Having social experience, I could feel that clearly.

But people are fickle. As the memories of that past fade into distant tales, I find subtle dissatisfaction creeping into my current life.

To prove that human greed is insatiable, I find it hard to be content with the present and wish for everything to be perfect.

I hoped my viewers would always like me, praise me after streams, and greet me without saying anything else when I went live. It was a small, yet extravagant wish.

“Uh… do you drink coffee?”

I snapped out of my thoughts at the suddenly heard voice. Looking up, I saw the director standing there, fidgeting.

Ever since his hiccup earlier, he had been acting like that.

Seeing his awkwardness put me more at ease, and I gladly requested coffee.

“I’ll have an iced black, with ice floating.”

“Iced black… got it.”

Even with my extra request, the director nodded. Usually, it’s hard to find black coffee, but I guess a game company would have at least that much stocked up.

“Are we recording right away?”

“If Mollru is comfortable, we can start right away. The voice actor who was recording before you is almost done.”

We chatted as we slowly moved to the recording room. When we opened the door to enter, I saw sound equipment set up, and inside was another door that led to what seemed to be a soundproof room.

Inside the soundproof room, a woman appeared to be recording.

“Haha, is this all you got? Huh?”

“Can you make it sound a bit more insane? Like you think we’re beneath you. Really like a crazy person.”

“Sure, I’ll give it another shot.”

It was a pro’s scene. The director with the megaphone spoke the demands, and the voice actor immediately improved the output based on the feedback.

The lines seemed a bit cringe to me, but she delivered them with the fitting voice without hesitation.

I couldn’t help but admire her professional demeanor.

“Your voice is great…”

“That’s Kang Young-ji, a super-famous voice actress in the industry. You probably heard her voice during games or anime without realizing it. Recently, she participated in the recording for School Girls that you played.”

The director explained that she also appeared in the stream where I was dating beautiful girls not long ago.

I asked with curiosity, “What character did she voice?”

“That would be Minji, the one you tried to woo.”

“Ah…”

So she was the voice of our ‘Yabal’ voice actress.

The voice actress who voiced Minji was so talented that she earned the nickname ‘Yabal Voice Actress’ in our group.

Her performance was so realistic, viewers joked that she must be a current or seasoned professional. There’s no way such vibes come from someone who hasn’t experienced it themselves.

Seeing the person in front of me, I honestly couldn’t believe she portrayed that tough character. She looked too innocent to even mutter a curse word, let alone an internet meme.

Yet, from that well-behaved kid’s face, various voices flowed as per the director’s requests with the megaphone. Starting from Minji’s voice I had heard to a whole assortment.

It was likely related to the character she would portray in this game.

They mentioned it was a multiple personality character—just the thought of it made the character’s setting dizzying. Since she had multiple personalities, there would be a lot of lines and different concepts for each.

Naturally, she would have to speak in appropriate voices for each.

However, our ‘Yabal Voice Actress’ was faithfully executing such a challenging task. Even I, an outsider, found it quite impressive, and judging by the smile on the director’s face, he agreed.

Not long after, I was greeted by the voice actress stepping out with a refreshed face.

“Ah, thank you for your hard work.”

“Oh, not really. It wasn’t too tough. I’m just happy to be called again. But this pretty lady… Oh my. The director really brought someone precious.”

After a short chat with the director, she turned to me and said.

“Do you know Mollru?”

“Of course! I actually watched your recent live stream for School Girls. You made the viewers laugh in your gameplay.”

“Ah, ah…”

For a moment, I was thrilled to meet the actress behind Minji. But as she mentioned watching that live stream, my embarrassment soared.

Although Molbus are usually shameless, that stream was particularly cringey. It was a day for dating sims, and the chat had a steep density of shy comments.

The problem was, I myself had slipped some inappropriate remarks among the viewers. I think I actually egged the viewers on more that day.

All I could do was thank her with my flushed cheeks for watching.

“I’m so glad to be working with you. It’s a pleasure to meet you in person. I wish I could watch you record, but I have to go now due to prior commitments.”

While she expressed her disappointment, I felt relieved instead. Yeah, it would have been a bit awkward face to face. Let’s save the catch-up for later.

“I guess I’ll hear the recording later… I’m curious about the results. Then, ‘I’ll be looking forward to it?'”

With a smile, she delivered a line in Minji’s voice before leaving the recording studio.

After the director asked if we were recording right away, I asked for just a moment to prepare my mind as I caught my breath. Even if I took my time, it wouldn’t be enough, and I was far from ready.

Just before moving into the recording booth, Si-young, who had been silently observing the entire conversation, spoke up.

“Does the director like people with good voices?”

It was quite an unexpected question. I expected some related talk before entering the recording booth.

Or maybe this was her way of trying to ease the tension. It was a method to divert attention with a conversation that didn’t fit the context.

I wasn’t sure about Si-young’s intentions, but I decided to think simply.

Voice, voice.

“Well, if I had to choose, then yes?

Having a good voice is nice, but that’s not everything.”

After hearing this, Si-young pondered for a moment before asking again.

“Do you think my voice is good?”

With such a clear separation between work and personal life, her suddenly asking about her voice caught me off guard. Perhaps she had some complex about her voice.

She might have compared herself to the talented voice actress. To be fair, the voice actress’s voice was indeed like a nightingale’s.

In contrast, Si-young’s voice was average, but that was to be expected; she was an ordinary person.

Yet, if I had to judge whether Si-young’s voice was good or not, I thought it was decent. It was pleasant enough and had a calm, business-like quality that reminded me of typical office ladies.

When I conveyed that thought, Si-young nodded with a satisfied look.

I had no idea what was going through her mind, but that wasn’t the important part. The recording was right around the corner.

With a tense heart, I headed into the soundproof room.
