Chapter 151
I always ran my broadcasts based on my interests, whether it was for a naengmyeon ad or a World Challenge.
I thought I wanted to live however I pleased, and with this life, I had the capability to do so. I could do what I wanted without starving, and people actually liked it.
It wasn’t just about streaming. I had been taking on modeling gigs and commentary roles based on what I felt like at the moment.
And now, something interesting had come my way.
“Recording, right?”
– Yes, a contact asked if you could do a recording. What should we do?
This came through Si-young, my manager, relaying external communications directed to her.
Since I often didn’t check my emails and received too many malicious ones, all external contacts were filtered to her. She usually directly presents the important stuff to me.
– Apparently, it’s a mobile game that’s set to launch next year, and the production is already complete. It looks like there won’t be any problems cropping up.
I could hear a rustling sound from her side of the phone. Did she prepare a report? It seemed she was already organizing the details to tell me.
Curiosity struck, and I asked, “Do proposals like this come to internet broadcasters often?”
I was a total newbie in this regard. Professional voice actors would be a much better choice, so why was I being chosen for the recording?
I was aware that my voice was decent, but considering I hadn’t done any ASMR content or anything like that, it was surprising to receive such an offer.
– Proposals do come for streamers and YouTubers. Some even end up getting ads later. But usually, those who get approached are the ones who do radio broadcasts or cover songs. They focus mainly on voice-related content. You’re not quite that type since you do a variety of broadcasts, so I’m not sure how they found out about you.
That was Si-young’s explanation. I shared the same thought. How did they find out about me? Even if viewers shout that I’m world-class or that Mollru is a god of another world, I had a good sense of where I stood.
My recognition or fame was limited to EOW. I had made a name for myself in the overall game industry through winning the World Challenge, but I didn’t think many people would recognize my name beyond that.
Well, I’ll amend that. It might be easy to know me as a broadcaster since I always sat at the top of the broadcast list due to my viewer count.
Someone entering my broadcast, hearing my voice, and thinking, “Whoa, this voice is something else…” then sending such an offer? Maybe they just wanted to take a shot.
– They said to give a response within a week, so there’s some time. They sent the game introduction and character profile along with the email. Would you like to read it?
“Yes, please send it over.”
The character profile would likely contain the role they wanted me to voice. I should take a look because I needed to know what role I’d be auditioning for.
After wrapping up my call with Si-young, I started reading through the game introduction and character profile.
The game was described as an open-world action-adventure fantasy game, featuring varied characters and captivating stories… There were base characters and characters you could obtain through ‘gacha’… Things were already looking suspicious.
I could already tell that this game would feature a character hierarchy.
There would surely be essential characters that had to be drawn to progress in the game, while some would become overlooked even if they did pop out of the gacha.
I hadn’t decided if I’d go through with the recording yet, but I hoped the character they approached me for had good skills. And I also hoped it looked cute. Generally, characters that meet those two criteria tend to be more popular.
Nodding to myself, I continued reading the character profile.
There was quite a bit of writing. I wasn’t sure about the length of other character profiles, but it was clear this one had a lot of details.
Resurrected specter, Sena. Originally sealed in the mountain behind the village, she was set free by the villagers… Her personality was cynical, appearing lackadaisical about her will to live… Apparently, her combat style involved shooting soul energy from a distance.
Hmm… It would have been better if she were a melee character. But well, that wasn’t the main concern, was it?
As I scrolled and skimmed the lengthy description, I reached the end where the illustration sat. A tall woman with sleek black hair crossed her arms and gazed toward me. True to her specter background, her body appeared faint and her legs from the knees down weren’t even drawn.
“Wow…”
I gasped softly. The character Sena, staring at me blankly, was totally my type. The illustration looked quite well drawn.
I liked it, I really liked it. The proposal felt intriguing. It wasn’t just because of the illustration; the game seemed like it wouldn’t flop either.
Having my voice featured while playing the game would be a pretty unique experience.
Hmm, should I do it? Record…? Would I have to go somewhere? To a recording studio, surrounded by tons of audio equipment, capturing my voice?
My contemplation didn’t last long. Once I organized my thoughts, I conveyed my willingness to accept the proposal to Si-young.

“Have you found your desired person?”
A man, considered the team’s oddball director, asked while handing a coffee to him. They shared a somewhat friendly rapport.
He was someone whose social skills were practically non-existent, but his abilities were top-notch, making me curious about his next scheme.
“Yes… She’s coming for the recording. Thankfully.”
The director appeared to not quite believe it, even saying it.
What could I say? He was a fan of Mollru, specifically one of the Molbunga crowd. Among them, he had achieved a fair degree of success.
Of course, he could be proud of having a character inspired by the Mollru he adored, and even better, Mollru would be dubbing it herself. He felt a swell of pride over his past self for having at least taken a chance to inquire about it.
Even though it was said that only the character’s lines needed to be recorded and sent over, here he was, willing to come to the studio.
He was suddenly given the chance to meet the real deal.
Current time: 3:42 PM. There were only a few minutes left until Mollru was supposed to arrive at 4.
Only then did the director realize the gravity of the situation and began shaking his legs nervously. A team member looked over curiously.
‘What’s up with him?’
He was always a bit strange, but he seemed even weirder today. His face was pale, and his legs trembled as if he were overly anxious.
But that too was a funny notion.
‘Anxious? This guy?’
The director, stone-faced, had many nicknames like “the Rock,” “the Stone Man,” etc. He had seen plenty of celebrities come and go for character recordings.
Famous actors with gorgeous voices… second-tier idols cuter than first-tier idols… real celebrities that common folks rarely encounter.
When all the other team members gaped at those stars, the director had always maintained his usual lackadaisical demeanor during work.
Who could possibly make him this tense?
‘Is a president coming or something?’
The team member thought that and chuckled in disbelief. If that were true, one might think the nervousness was warranted.
The unexpected aspect was that for the director, Mollru held a higher status than any president. He would’ve thought, “Oh, that’s just the president” if he ever met one.
The one person who could melt the hard rock that was his entire being was none other than Mollru herself.
It hit 4 PM. The director’s smartwatch vibrated softly in accordance with the scheduled time, and in a manner mismatched with that gentle buzz, he jumped slightly.
‘Oh, she’s actually coming.’
Not even noticing the curious glances from his colleagues, the director just stared intently at the door with a nervous expression.
Ten seconds passed, thirty seconds passed, and a minute passed. She still hadn’t arrived.
‘Should I have gone down to greet her?’
No, that wasn’t necessary, as it hadn’t mentioned that in the email. I shouldn’t risk upsetting her in any way.
As he lightly tapped his feet on the floor, he suddenly realized that he wasn’t in a normal state of mind.
‘It’s only 4:03 PM…’
Five minutes or even ten minutes could easily, naturally pass. Plus, considering Mollru’s past habit of being quite late to get-togethers, he had to keep that in mind as well.
Instead of being restless like a puppy needing to pee, he should think about how he would speak to Mollru when they finally met and how they would work together.
If he didn’t run a simulation in advance, he would definitely end up looking like a fool. That wouldn’t be appropriate in front of his idol, and it would be a highly embarrassing situation.
So, let’s think about how he would handle meeting Mollru for the first time.
That door would open, and that woman he’d only seen in videos would step in, her long black hair flowing…
“Hello.”
Yeah, a simple “hello” would be suitable. It was her go-to greeting when she started her broadcasts, welcoming her viewers.
As Mollru entered, her gaze fell upon him. A hint of confusion flickered in her eyes when a response was absent.
A simulation that felt so real sometimes, like right now.
The imagined form of Mollru felt vivid and lifelike. Almost like reality…
Reality…?
“Gah!”
The director finally realized that Mollru standing right in front of him was not a fabricated simulation, but real. Her captivating eyes seemed to draw him in, and the manager standing next to her was something he simply could not visualize in his fantasy.
In that moment, he unconsciously inhaled a huge breath, resulting in a hiccup.
Hiccup-!
He hiccupped vigorously while looking at Mollru, her face a combination of embarrassment and bemusement.
He thought to himself, “What a perfect first impression I’ve made!”
