Chapter 107: What’s Your Deal Again?
Chapter 107: What’s Your Deal Again?
“Well, that’s a problem for tomorrow,” I thought, as Gaia decided to throw a celebration feast tonight to honor the success of the rescue plan.
“That’s right! Don’t be late tonight! If you miss this celebration feast, you’ll definitely regret it—so hard, you’ll be slapping your thighs!”
After instructing Weirafiya and Aierjisi not to be tardy, Ailin took her leave.
“Ah… just thinking about the celebration feast gives me a headache.”
Aierjisi cradled her head, sitting on the edge of her bed. Ever since the last soirée at the City Lord’s place, she had developed an aversion to large gatherings like feasts and balls. After all, she was a total otaku in her past life! Expecting her to keep her cool in such a crowded place was just too much to ask.
“Do you dislike crowds as well?”
Weirafiya patted Aierjisi’s back. She wasn’t fond of crowded places either. Watching a movie or a circus performance as a mere audience member was fine, but attending a ball or a social gathering where you had to engage with others? That was a different story altogether!
“Exactly! I’m really not good at attending these things. Just think about it—sitting there, and people buzzing around us, trying to strike up conversations.”
Aierjisi couldn’t help but imagine herself hiding away in a quiet corner, waiting for the party to end. But lo and behold, the moment she thought she was alone, a swarm of curious folks would come over to chat her up! Just the thought of it made her head threaten to explode.
“I’ve never been to one before. But from what you’re saying, it sounds like a major hassle.”
Unlike Aierjisi, who had attended a ball before, Weirafiya had zero experience. Naturally, she couldn’t fully grasp Aierjisi’s suffering. But simply hearing her describe it made Weirafiya feel like it was bound to be a colossal headache.
“So, what are we gonna do? Are we going tonight or not?”
Weirafiya couldn’t make up her mind. If they did go to the celebration feast, there would be tons of delicious food and exquisite drinks—definitely a scrumptious perk! But then again, her stunning looks would surely attract a crowd, interrupting her food enjoyment.
But if they chose not to go… It felt like they’d be missing out! After all, they put in effort, and Gaia had invited them. Not attending would be such a waste!
“We absolutely have to go! After all, it’s a celebration feast that Gaia invited us to. If we don’t go, won’t that embarrass him?”
If it were someone else inviting them, Aierjisi would totally skip it. But this was Gaia! If he extended an invitation, they were obliged to accept! I mean, he was Ailin’s husband, right? Not going would look bad, especially since they were meant to be allies against the Adrian People moving forward.
“Speaking of which, there’s something I forgot to ask you.”
“What’s up? Ask away!”
“How long have you been in this world? When you came here, were you stuck in an egg too?”
Aierjisi was curious about Weirafiya’s situation in this new realm. Ailin had been aware since she was in her egg, but Aierjisi had just been shoved into this body. What about Weirafiya, though?
“Oh, me? I’ve been here for about three years. As for being an egg, I’m not sure. My consciousness was pretty hazy back then. I could never tell if I was dreaming or if it was real life. I basically spent all day in a volcano. If it weren’t for Yake making too much noise, I’d probably still be hanging out in that volcano!”
Recalling that time, Weirafiya was puzzled about her state back then. After all, she had just been chilling in a volcano where the lava provided all the nutrients she needed, so she didn’t leave. Or maybe she couldn’t leave? Who knows? At that time, she probably couldn’t even move!
“Hmm… So, that’s your situation? Looks like each of us ended up here differently.”
Aierjisi frowned, realizing they all had totally different timelines coming into this world. Ailin had been around for about 30 years, Weirafiya for around three, and here was Aierjisi with the shortest stint—only two months…
But hey, at least she made it here in time—just caught the last train! The other three got captured even before they arrived!
“Anyway, I’ve got to head back now. See you tonight!”
“Yeah, see you later!”
With no particular topic to continue on, Aierjisi went back to her room.
“Aier, you’re back! So, what was it? Did Ailin have something important to tell you?”
Yake was there, bored out of his mind, doing push-ups on the floor. Upon seeing Aierjisi, he eagerly asked about her chat with Ailin.
“Nothing that crucial. Just some intel she overheard in the enemy’s base camp.”
“What kind of intel?”
“That’s none of your business. It’s about my old…”
Aierjisi glanced at Carl, who was still snoozing on the bed, and stopped mid-sentence.
She couldn’t let Carl know that she was just an outsider occupying his daughter’s body. Who knew what he might do if he found out she was merely a traveler from another world!
In Aierjisi’s memories, Carl was friendly to his own people, yet brutal to those he deemed enemies—that was why outsiders were so terrified of the Blood Clan’s ruler.
“Come on! What’s with the cliffhanger? Why’d you stop?”
Yake was confused, noticing Aierjisi had cut herself off. He didn’t get it.
【Let’s just use a contract to finish this conversation. I don’t want Father King to overhear.】
【Huh? Oh…】
Now Yake understood—Aierjisi wanted to have a private conversation without anyone eavesdropping.
