the news of Konoha's defense war spread to other countries five days ago.
As a response, Fugaku ordered the Konoha ninjas to gather in a camp located in the Land of Rivers.
With the addition of 2,000 ninjas joining those who departed with him from Konoha 16 days ago, the camp reached about 3,000 ninjas. It was indeed a significant number.
This centralization would make it easier to command and manage any future war rather than scattered ninjas around for intel.
From atop a high mountain, Fugaku is alone, gazing down at the bustling activity of the Konoha camp. A deep sigh escaped his lips, burdened by the weight of the task ahead.
He felt like he was losing control of his own body and couldn't focus enough to control his chakra. It had become increasingly difficult for him to perform ninjutsu or utilize the eight gates technique.
This was not good; he couldn't afford to lose his edge like this. Despite the presence of many female ninjas in the camp, he needed to find a way to deal with his problems quickly.
But distractions wouldn’t solve his problem. He knew he needed something else, something that could truly satisfy him.
"Kekeke, Lord Fugaku, why are you here alone every day, and you still look worried?" someone asks him.
Fugaku recognized the voice of Orochimaru.
"I’m just enjoying the fresh air. What do you want?" Fugaku asked as he sat on a stone, turning his head.
"I must say, Lord Fugaku, I'm still impressed by your strength. Taking on a hundred sand ninjas with a mere shadow clone is an astonishing feat," Orochimaru remarked with a smug smile. "If I recall correctly, you were not this strong before. What brought about this sudden change?"
He knew what Orochimaru wanted. Orochimaru's fanaticism for forbidden arts and eternal life led him to change his appearance and experiment on innocent villagers.
Upon hearing of Fugaku's rapid increase in strength, Orochimaru couldn't resist investigating.
However, Fugaku had a deep aversion to Orochimaru's actions and motives.
He had a desire to taunt Orochimaru, but he chose to remain silent for a moment, then replied perfunctorily.
"I underwent six months of intense training and ate something special," explained Fugaku.
Orochimaru smirked. "And did it make you stronger or just skinnier?"
Fugaku ignored the jibe, knowing that Orochimaru’s eccentricities were not worth engaging with. But on that day, when he decided to go ahead, Tsunade and Orochimaru also tagged along.
As they journeyed on, Fugaku pushed himself to his limit, relying on the forbidden eight gates technique to cover more ground and increase his speed. The others struggled to keep up with him, lagging behind.
Fugaku arrived at their destination in the early morning, long before the rest of them. Tsunade, who feared blood, arrived in the afternoon of the same day and immediately began helping as a medic ninja, creating essential antidotes and medicine to aid the wounded.
Despite her skills, her fear of the sight of blood made it hard for her to function effectively on the battlefield.
-------------------------------------
At that time, in the camp at the foot of the mountain, the cooking smoke hung thickly in the air, and the ninjas were busy with their assigned tasks.
Some guarded the perimeter, some gathered intelligence, some chatted, others trained, some ate, and some were sent to procure supplies in the land of rivers. Feeding three thousand ninja was not a small matter.
Despite their diverse duties, the ninjas shared a common reverence for the figure on the mountaintop.
In the battle earlier that day, everyone in the camp had been wounded to some extent, with many suffering serious injuries. Yet they had lost less than five people in total.
During the cleanup, members of the Ino-Shika-Cho clan came across more than three hundred unclaimed corpses and numerous battle scars, testaments to their overwhelming victory.
That person on the mountaintop played a key role, holding the enemy's left and right wings, leading his clansmen into the enemy camp, and he was alone enough to stop the Suna puppet troops. It was a record to be admired.
“Incredible, big brother. Did the patriarch really beat you?” asked Akira, gazing incredulously at the figure perched on the mountaintop.
Only hearing about it before and now witnessing the devastation firsthand, he couldn't help but believe it.
Akemi chuckled in response. “No, he didn't. Do you think I would lie to you?”
He had once underestimated his opponent and hadn't realized how powerful the patriarch was. Even if he had another chance, he doubted he could have achieved much better.
Now, however, he was a loyal follower of the patriarch, grateful for the timely aid that had saved his life.
As a ninja, Akemi knew that death could come at anytime, but if given the chance to live, who would willingly choose death?
Hearing his brother's words, Akira quietly contemplated his own plans.
--------------------------------------------------------------
Tsunade caught a glimpse of Fugaku seated atop the mountain, his impressive record not escaping her attention, yet despite knowing his strength, she felt at ease.
As she pondered how to approach him, having promised the old man to complete the task, Tsunade figured it shouldn't be a challenge for a ninja of her caliber, with her voluptuous figure being an added advantage.
However, Fugaku seemed to go out of his way to avoid her, always slipping away before she could initiate a conversation. This made her both curious and confused. He was not Fugaku, as she remembered.
Before he got married, she barely knew him. But ever since their encounter, she has noticed his gaze on her, sometimes subtle, sometimes blatant.
He even confessed to her during their fight in the arena. So why the change in his behavior? She knew she shouldn't entertain these dangerous thoughts.
“Tsunade-sama…” Shizune's voice trailed off, interrupting her thoughts.
Startled, Tsunade turned to face her niece, whizzing towards her with a pink piglet. A smile graced her lips as she inquired, "What's wrong?"
